About Steven Mansfield

I am originally from Massachusetts and moved to California 25 years ago. I am a local dentist (Prosthodontist) and have an office in the city of Napa. Most weekends I can be found either skiing, motorcycling, or playing golf or tennis. My east coast roots shine brightly as I am a 'die-hard' ice hockey enthusiast.

Steven Mansfield purchased this house in 1995

Why Steven Mansfield chose Sonoma County

My professional life as a dentist brought me to the Sonoma/Napa Valleys 20 years ago. I was fortunate to have purchased this idyllic location in 1995 and raise my two daughters here until it was time for them to attend high school in Marin County. It made sense to move closer to their schools and 5 years ago we made the move to San Rafael in Marin County.

What makes this house unique

My Sonoma home remains very much the same as it was when we lived there and thus you should experience a very 'lived in, homey' feeling while relaxing in our home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Such a wonderful place to call home for a few days as we celebrated my sisters 50th birthday. Thank you! amazing home! I was sold when I saw that oak in the backyard!

Beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do the house justice. The area is beautiful! Great for bigger groups. Hot tube didn't work for us which was a bummer but the house was great.

Owner's Response: Thanks Michele for your comments! Sorry for the inconvenience with the hot tub as my repair service was unable to replace the heating element in time for your arrival. All fixed now!

Pictures don't do this property justice

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend with friends at this property. When you arrive you immediately feel like you're in a different world. It's quiet, serene, and beautiful. You may have a chance encounter with a neighborhood Weimaraner named Enzo. He came right up to the screen door and just wanted to say hi. The house is plenty big for a large group (we had 12). We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace with plenty of wood supplied in the shed, great new appliances for cooking, and the supremely comfortable furniture. The jewel of this house is the backyard. There's a large, old growth California Oak that spans the yard and creates quite the scene. We enjoyed playing croquet on the back lawn, cocktails in hand, and the sunsetting in the background. Go enjoy the serenity of Sonoma.

A fantastic getaway

  • 5 of 5

This vrbo acted as a perfect gathering point for our group of 10. The property felt very comfortable with great accommodations. We really appreciated the grounds of the property with the wonderful gnarled trees and hammock swing in the backyard.

The kitchen is a bit cramped when trying to make meals for 10 people but came with all kitchen utensils and pans that were necessary. Dining room fit all of us spaciously. Beds and rooms were comfortable. Although there are only two bathrooms, they were spacious enough to allow people to get ready in tandem.

Mr. Mansfield was very fast when we let him know about the oven not working and although it did not get fixed during our stay, he was very prompt and courteous with his responses.

Overall, a great gathering point to explore nearby wine country for larger groups with beautiful grounds itself.

Great space and grounds

  • 4 of 5

Overall, it's a great size and the grounds are nice. The hot tub is awesome! Also a very convenient location.

The loft bed is extremely hard and uncomfortable, and the whole area was very dusty. I wouldn't plan for people to sleep there.

Towels and hand towels provided. A fairly well stocked kitchen for utensils and plates.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback Chelsea! The double size bed in the loft has a single futon mattress which probably accounts for the bed feeling hard. I will be sure to address the dust in this loft space. I'm glad your group had a good time and thanks again for staying at my home.

Excellent & charming place for a large group. Quiet neighborhood.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house in conjunction with a wedding event nearby. The place is very clean and spacious and worked really well for our group of 9, including 2 dogs (pet friendly). We cooked several times there and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would need to prepare meals. It's a very private estate so it was very quiet & peaceful the entire stay. The location was extremely convenient to Sonoma square, groceries, cafes etc. The owner was extremely easy to work with in answering all of my questions. He responded very efficiently and was always kind & courteous. I highly recommend staying there and if we are ever in town again we would surely stay again.

Perfect for large group!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect rental for our girls weekend. There was plenty of space for the 12 of us, and even though there were only 2 bathrooms, one of them was rather large so multiple people were able to get ready at once. The property was private and absolutely beautiful, and the spacious backyard provided a number of places for us all to hang out. We loved that the speakers were wired for inside and outside - a major plus for our group! The location was also great - close to town, so quick grocery store trips were easy to make if needed. Thanks again for everything!
