Woodside Retreat is a spacious, single-storey countryside retreat for up to 18 guests, with six ensuite bedrooms, three additional sofa beds, three private hot tubs and generous living space for families, friends and groups.

Set within The Victorian Barn, our family-run 65-acre countryside estate, Woodside combines private group accommodation with access to a range of shared leisure facilities. The estate also has a collection of other self-catering cottages and lodges, so while Woodside Retreat is your own private accommodation, some of the wider leisure facilities and grounds are shared with other guests staying on the estate.

Guests at Woodside Retreat can enjoy use of the shared indoor heated swimming pool and sauna, games room, activity suite, outdoor play area, fishing lakes and countryside grounds. The three hot tubs at Woodside Retreat are private and exclusively for Woodside guests.

Large windows and patio doors bring in plenty of natural light and open onto the extended terrace and garden area, with lovely countryside views towards Bulbarrow Hill.

Bedrooms and Sleeping Arrangements

Woodside Retreat has six spacious ensuite bedrooms.

All six bedrooms have zip-and-link beds, which can be arranged as either king-size or twin beds, giving plenty of flexibility for families, friends and mixed groups.

There are also three sofa beds within the accommodation. Two are located in master bedrooms and the third is in one of the lounge areas, providing additional sleeping flexibility for larger groups.

Please note that Vrbo may display Woodside Retreat as having seven bedrooms because the lounge containing a sofa bed can be categorised as an additional sleeping area. The property has six conventional bedrooms, all of which are ensuite.

Five bedrooms have ensuite shower rooms with large walk-in rainfall showers, heated towel rails, wash hand basins and WCs.

One bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a full-size bath, large walk-in rainfall shower, heated towel rail, wash hand basin and WC.

There is also an additional accessible WC in the hallway.

The bedrooms are comfortably furnished with memory foam mattresses, plush pillows and duvets, fitted wardrobes, dressing tables, bedside tables and full-length mirrors.

There is also space for a cot.

Three Separate Living Suites

Woodside Retreat is arranged into three adjoining accommodation suites, each with its own open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area.

Each kitchen is fully equipped with an induction hob, double oven, dishwasher, under-counter fridge and under-counter freezer, with dining space for up to 6 guests.

Each lounge has comfortable leather sofas, coffee tables and a wall-mounted 50-inch Smart TV.

Doors lead from the living areas onto the patios and garden, making it easy to move between indoor and outdoor spaces.

This layout works particularly well for larger groups because everyone can stay together while still having their own bedroom, bathroom and smaller living area when they want a little more space.

Central Group Living and Dining Space

At the heart of Woodside Retreat is the large central living and dining space, designed so your whole group can spend time together comfortably.

There is a large dining area with seating for up to 18 guests, making it ideal for family meals, celebrations and evenings together.

The spacious lounge area has six sofas and a 75-inch Smart TV, providing plenty of seating for the whole group.

A fully equipped kitchen adjoins the central living space, so meals can be prepared and served without everyone having to separate into the individual suites.

There is also an accessible WC nearby.

The central space sits just across the hall from the bedroom suites, so guests can easily come together while still having quieter areas to retreat to.

Private Outdoor Space and Hot Tubs

Woodside Retreat has level access onto its own extended patio with outdoor picnic furniture, making it a lovely place for morning coffee, outdoor dining or relaxing together.

There are three private outdoor warm bubbling hot tubs for Woodside Retreat guests to enjoy during their stay.

The accommodation also has an open-plan lawn area with countryside views towards Bulbarrow Hill.

Please note that Woodside Retreat does not have an enclosed garden.

There is a wooden post-and-rail boundary fence at the edge of the garden, with electric livestock fencing on the field side. Warning signs are in place, and children must be supervised at all times around the hot tubs, outdoor areas, farm boundaries, lakes and livestock fencing.

Shared Leisure Facilities

Woodside Retreat forms part of The Victorian Barn estate, where guests have access to a range of shared leisure facilities.

These include our indoor heated swimming pool and sauna, games room, activity suite, outdoor play area, three coarse fishing lakes and countryside grounds.

The swimming pool and leisure facilities are shared with guests staying in our other cottages and lodges on the estate and are not private to Woodside Retreat.

The three hot tubs at Woodside Retreat are private and are for Woodside guests only.

Swimming arrangements and opening times can vary depending on the time of year and occupancy, and guests are provided with the relevant information for their stay.

The Estate

The Victorian Barn is set within approximately 65 acres of glorious Dorset countryside.

Guests can enjoy the shared estate grounds, lawns, lakes and rural tracks during their stay.

As this is a rural countryside and working farm setting, guests may encounter livestock, farm boundaries, electric fencing, uneven ground, lakes and rural tracks around the estate.

The setting is peaceful and rural, with beautiful views across the surrounding countryside towards Bulbarrow Hill.

Parking and EV Charging

There is ample onsite parking, including extra-wide parking spaces.

An onsite EV charger is also available, making it easy to explore Dorset during the day and recharge when you return.

Group Stays and Celebrations

Woodside Retreat is particularly well suited to family gatherings, milestone birthdays, celebrations, reunions, retreats and weekends away with friends.

Its layout gives you the best of both worlds: a large central space where up to 18 guests can dine and relax together, combined with six ensuite bedrooms, three additional sofa beds and three smaller living areas where guests can enjoy a little more independence.

For a special occasion, or simply if you would prefer not to cook, we can also recommend local caterers who may be available to provide meals during your stay.

Woodside Retreat is single-storey with level access and an accessible WC.

The property can work well for guests who prefer accommodation without stairs, although guests with specific accessibility requirements are welcome to contact us before booking so we can help confirm whether the layout will suit their needs.
