Hosts were fantastic, Charles showed us walks to take on the Saturday, we ordered food for our arrival date, it was exceptional, would thoroughly recommend Caroline's cooking !!. We couldn't fault anything, lovely and cosy, warm and welcoming, will be back for sure!!!"

  • Super barn in a lovely part of Devon

"My family and I (2 adults plus 2 children, aged 10 and 8) enjoyed a lovely week at Strawberry barn over May half term 2016. Though physically next to the main farmhouse, the layout, driveway and fenced in garden gives the barn a very secluded feel and the immediate environment is peaceful and tranquil. The barn is wonderfully located, being within an easy drive of numerous beaches and the towns of Dartmouth and Salcombe. Dartmouth for crabbing, river & steam train excursions were a highlight as was the fabulous Bantham beach. The barn garden is a good size and the swings were a bonus we hadn't realised would be there. Being fenced in, it's very safe for children as it's tricky for them to escape! We were lucky with the weather and so enjoyed BBQing on the Weber most evenings. There's plenty of space to kick a ball around or play some garden games. The barn itself is appointed to a really high standard, with lots of lovely decorative touches, and I can't really fault anything about it. The upside down layout allows for a small elevated decking area outside the entrance, from where you can enjoy the view, a glass of wine and the peace and quiet (once the children are asleep!). The barn doesn't have a dishwasher but that was clear from the details on this website and wasn't an issue for us. It's not huge, the upstairs constituting one open plan area but was perfect for us for the week. The dining table in the kitchen part of the upstairs can comfortably accommodate 4. We didn't watch much TV so I can't really comment but there is a Sky box with free view channels. The wifi is OK but remember this is the Devon countryside so don't expect fibre optic broadband speeds. Overall, I would recommend Strawberry Barn without a moments hesitation and suspect it is somewhere we will be visiting again in the future."
