Once the former wash house to Coastguards, now a luxury self-catering retreat for two, this romantic hideaway in Jury's Gap is just the ticket for couples looking to breathe in some fresh sea air. A sun-trapped outside space, bbq and the sound of the waves reign during the summer months, while in winter the white washed wooden glamour of Surf Shacks interiors offer a snug retreat to hide from blustery winds. Rough-luxe, this cabin on the coast will entice all who stay to up sticks from their city slicks and escape to Camber forever.

Inside

With French doors and velux windows flooding the open plan layout with natural light, The Surf Shacks king-size bed is as soothing as it is stylish. The white washed interior creates a cocoon of comfort where long lie-ins sipping coffee beneath the weight of the duvet with the log burner roaring are the most tempting way to spend each and every morning, while the separate bathroom with a beach mural is the perfect place to wash away coastal adventures with the electric shower.

Outside

Surrounded by SSSI, The Surf Shacks garden is a peaceful spot, spend days here gently soaking up the good life. Come nightfall, wrap in blankets and spot shooting stars fly across the heavens before collapsing into the enormous bed, not a sound murmuring beneath the outside other than channel breeze and the crashing waves.

Sea Defence Works and Nearby Military Firing Range

Our properties are situated near the Lydd Ranges, a historic military firing range that has been in use for over 150 years. This unique area is also a nature reserve and part of the Dungeness, Romney Marsh, and Rye Bay Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to incredibly rare plants and animals. While this adds to the natural beauty and significance of the area, it also means that certain times the ranges won't be accessible to walk along. Don't worry as there will still be several miles of beach to walk along as you head to Camber.

Military Firing Range Information:

Access to the foreshore is occasionally restricted due to live firing exercises. Red flags are flown during these times, indicating that access is prohibited for safety reasons.

When firing is not taking place, it may be possible to walk along a designated path along the shore, offering a chance to enjoy this unique environment.
