The cottage is situated a strow away from the beach and close to the town centre which makes it an ideal place to stay in Hythe. Parking was easy in the street, which is a bonus.The cottage is nicely decorated and had all we needed for our short stay.Naomi is very responsive in her communication and helpful. We would not hesitate to recommend to cottage.

A wonderful place between the sea and the centre of Hythe. 5 minutes walk to the beach, 10min to the town centre. Very cosy living room, well equipped kitchen, very comfortable bed. Everything is clean, of course. You'll find some goodies in the kitchen when you arrive. We love it and hope to come back soon. The dog loved it, too. There were treats, when we arrived...

Lovely cottage in Hythe

The cottage is well-equipped and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Hythe is lovely too with an attractive promenade and nice, independent shops in the High Street. Great local pub too!

Heron Cottage felt like a home, not a holiday let. It’s perfectly positioned, wonderfully stocked, and Naomi’s communication is friendly and helpful. I went to Hythe not knowing what to expect, and left with sadness having made friends. I highly recommend the house and the town.

Thank you Andrew. Andrew was an exemplary guest - previous visitors had reported the toaster broken and Andrew kindly picked up the replacement I ordered. He also went beyond expectation to sort out incorrect recycling by previous guests. Very much hope he stays again.

and such a nice owner. Everything was just as described, location was close to the sea and the river, kitchen had all you could possibly need. As we were arriving late we were apprehensive about parking and getting in - both were very easy. They have a nice system where there are beers waiting for you in the fridge and you then have to leave beers for the next guests. Definitely a place to go back to

Lovely stay in a lovely area

Everything went really well. Naomi had left clear instructions on how to access the property etc. The cottage is well stocked with all cleaning products, which is always good as it helps you to clear and clean as you go along!The beds were really comfy and there was the bonus of a ceiling fan during the heat wave.Lots to do in the town and surrounding areas. Cosy place

A great place in the nice little town of Hythe, 5min walk to the beach, 10min to the High Street, all the amenities close by.We did not miss anything in the house. First of all, the house is very well equipped: kitchen and bath with all the necessary appliances, comfortable beds, good Wifi etc. Apart from that, we loved the artwork, the colours: a great fusion of features of a traditional house and clever ideas. Great holiday

Lovely house, great location, would definitely recommend. We had our dog with us which unfortunately let the holiday down a tad because of 'the ranges'. I hadn't realised the ferocity of the firing. My dog is VERY noise sensitive so we had to jump in the car and run out of earshot most days. We really liked Hythe and the friendliness of all the folk we met. We went on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway a couple of times which was great. I paddled the Royal Military Canal a couple of times...had it to myself both times. The Happy Shack down the end of the road is a great breakfast treat.

Oh I am so sorry activity at the ranges caused your dog anxiety. You were unlucky to coincide with that amount of activity - some weeks you wouldn’t even know it was there. For those unaware the ranges are a base where the military can fire live rounds out to sea. If they are practising you can hear the noise in the garden. Maybe similar to firecrackers going off in a neighbouring road. I’m glad the things I can control were positive though!

A top holiday house 2 minutes walk from the beach and 10 minutes walk from the town. Parking was on the roadside, but totally easy. The check-in was very easy and flexible due to a key safe. The owner gave explicit and easy to follow instructions about everything concerning the house and garden.She was also available per phone and text to contact and friendly. The house had everything we needed; it was completely furnished with lots of cooking utensils a dishwasher and a washing machine. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was great. There was also a downstairs utility room with an extra toilet .We had a lovely week and hope to return. The owner calls it The Happy Placeand that is certainly true.Thank you for letting us stay.

We've owned Heron Cottage since 2012 and have enjoyed it as a family bolt hole whilst also sharing it with visitors, many who are repeat guests.
We love being so close to the beach and often the car doesn't move whilst we're visiting the area. A favourite activity is to walk the 5 miles to Folkestone and then get the bus back, often via lunch at Bella Pizza Pasta on Sandgate Road. Closer to home the pubs all do great food or there's the Waterfront Restaurant for a beach side meal. Over in Folkestone a treat is Rocksalt restaurant overlooking the harbour arm.
Dymchurch and beyond has the sandy beaches and Dungeness has a particular charm.
A wander along Hythe high street usually results in an unexpected purchase of food or nicknack.

Swimming: The beach at Hythe is safe for swimming or as an alternative the local 25m swimming pool in Hythe is about 500m away. It nearly always has public swimming with lane ropes for serious swimmers and there are regular fun swims for children in the school holidays

Walking: The Saxon Shore Way runs 160 miles from Gravesend to Hastings (passing close to Hythe) and is named after the line of historic fortifications that defended the Kent coast at the end of the roman era. The Elham Valley Way runs from the historic cathedral city of Canterbury all the way to Hythe through beautiful countryside and the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Cycling: National Cycle Routes 2 and 17 are accessible locally.
