Karoti Village is a hidden gem in the heart of Crete, a picturesque, traditional village of just 150 residents, perfectly positioned between the historic towns of Rethymno (15 km) and Chania (50 km). It offers the quintessential Cretan lifestyle—quiet, slow-paced, and deeply welcoming—while being only 2.5 km away from the sandy shores of Episkopi and Petres beaches.

In the nearest Rethymno City, you should definitely walk in the streets of the Old Town, where the old houses with the Venetian doors and the minarets will take you on a journey through time. A plethora of restaurants, cafes, and shops are waiting for you to explore them. At the edge of the old town, you can visit Fortezza Castle, where you can enjoy the spectacular view. A stop at the Archaeological Museum and the Folklore Museum of Rethymno will complete your visit.

Life in Karoti is defined by its charming simplicity. The village features two traditional cafes and a local tavern that offers a truly personalized and traditional culinary experience: simply arrange your meal with the owner in the morning, and enjoy a tailor-made dinner later that day.

Experience the romance of village life as local vendors pass through the streets; listen for the loudspeakers of the artisanal bread van each morning, or source fresh, seasonal produce and daily catches from the visiting vegetable merchants. For further amenities, the vibrant village of Episkopi is just a scenic 15-minute countryside walk (1 km) away, offering a wider taste of local life.
