Overview

About the property

Log Cabin, Downstairs Master Bedroom + Loft Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

We recently bought out our partner in R&R Retreat and now it is all ours. We have remolded our little cabin in the mountains and even put in new windows so you can enjoy the mountain view from the living room even more.

The bathroom has been completely remodeled with new tile floors and a bright glass doored walk-in shower.

The kitchen is fully equipped and has new granite countertops, stainless fridge and cute little red retro microwave. We have new dishes and silverware too.

All three beds have new mattresses and are wrapped in waterproof, bed bug free covers for your comfort and safety. The loft has cushy new carpeting, a new dresser and a comfy sitting area with sofa to relax and read or play computer games. There's even a recliner for a quick cat nap.

Downstairs, the flooring is all new vinyl plank and the living room has a wonderful big leather sofa and a comfy love seat. The dining area has updated table and chairs with extra leaves to seat your group of 6 more comfortably is needed. Table leaves are in the bedroom closet if you need them.

We still have a bit to finish up mostly outside.

We recently replaced the front steps with a ramp making both the front and back doors handicap friendly.

Outside is as great as inside with the hot tub on the large private back deck where you will also have a charcoal grill and table and chairs for outdoor dining. The side deck has 2 lounge chairs for private sunbathing and relaxing.

The front porch is where the view is. There is also another table and chairs here to enjoy al fresco dining with a mountain view. Grab a rocking chair and sip your morning coffee, afternoon beverages or simply watch the clouds float over the mountains.

The cabin is at the entrance to the Valley where Townsend is located. The only road in and out is just below the cabin and vehicles can be heard when you are outside. Being located in the woods the cabin is occasionally visited by local animals. Squirrels, raccoons, possums, turkeys, various other type birds and on very rare occasions a bear might wander by looking for food. Ignore any bear and it will continue on it's way when it finds no food.

We want to invite you to our little cabin in the mountains, located in Townsend, TN, the quiet side of the Smokies. our location is perfect for nature lovers without going miles away from everything.

About Jerry Rainwater

We have traveled extensively around the globe, but still come back home and marvel at the beauty of the mountains right here in our own front yard. We have traveled for business and pleasure, including international hot air ballooning, even flying in the Alps and over the Great Wall of China. Nothing beats home and the Smoky Mountains.

Jerry Rainwater purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Jerry Rainwater chose Townsend

Cindy grew up in East Tennessee and visited this area with here family since the 1950's. While Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge exploded with commercial tourist attractions, Townsend kept it natural charm. With the opportunity to purchase a vacation place anywhere in the world, we found this to be the perfect place for an easy getaway for relaxing and enjoying nature. Townsend does have small events from time to time and we always enjoy participating in them and then head back to our little piece of serenity.

What makes this cabin unique

R&R Retreat is located in a very private setting without driving long curvy roads through the mountains. We are located just 25 minutes from the Knoxville airport. While offering cozy relaxation, we are only 4 miles from the Great Smoky Mountain National Park entrance. A mile inside the park turn right to Cades Cove or left and drive the river road to Gatlingburg. Pigeon Forge is just a short drive away with Dollywood, The Island, entertainment shows, outlet malls and more.

It was very relaxing and quit

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay the road noise was some times a bit load but other than that it was very nice and clean and peaceful. something we needed have needed for a long time wished we could have stayed longer. we suggest if you stay you try the tubing down the river that was relaxing and cooling on a hot day we spent 12. dollars and could go as much as we wanted to. we only wish we would of got to see otis around the cabin. but we went to cads cove and saw many bear in there, so make sure you go there in the early morning thats when they are the most active and stop and look and the different buildings and grave yards they have it is very interesting so thank you so much for the use of you cabin. we enjoyed our selves very much.

Comfortable Cabin!

We spent a week at this very comfortable cabin. It was very clean. We enjoyed the view from the front porch. I would stay at R & R Retreat again, and I would recommend it to others.

Cozy and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was comfortable and I loved the decor and the huge fireplace. We also enjoyed the large porch that wraps around three sides of the cabin, with the comfortable rocking chairs and the lovely view of the mountains. We called the owners to let them know the Directv box in the living room wasn’t working and the hot tub wasn’t properly taken care of by the cleaning staff. They promptly took care of the problems and were very friendly and helpful. They are good people who clearly care about their guests. We would definitely stay here again.
