Whike "location" was not the only reason for staying here, it was ideal for visiting Reims, Verdun and Troyez. A reasonable drive to each place. The bonus was that the chateau itself was delightful. The bed was great, the accommodation was very clean, there was nice private outdoor space, and the host and hostess were very helpful and open. We will gladly stay there again if we are in that area.
A well equipped property in a fabulous setting. Friendly hosts had good recommendations for things to do (including a day trip to the fantastic medieval city of Troyes) and made us feel welcome.
A lovely comfortable self contained chalet attached to a magnificent chateau,
The grounds and scenery we amazing,
The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable.
Would recommend to anyone, and we will return.
The property is in a super location surrounded by a beautiful landscape. We enjoyed the easy access to the canal tow path for cycling and walking. the owners were very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable.
Really enjoyed stay, very relaxing, tranquil environment, loved the fresh flowers on arrival. The cottage is very homely, warm and comfortable. Our host, Marc, was extremely helpful, gave us some great suggestions of places to visit while there, he particularly helped us navigate our hire car booking which included taking us to the Avis depot when the car was not available at the railway station and then came with us to return it.
Thank you Marc and Catherine.

A great find
We had a very relaxing, peaceful stay. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was clean, recently renovated and warm. Our stay was December, cold and wet outside but toasty warm inside. Due our visit being over the new year nearly all the champagne houses were closed but for us it did want we wanted for this trip. I’d love to revisit in the spring or summer when it will be buzzing with all the activities in the lake and park right in the door step.
Chateau de Juvigny is a history lovers dream opportunity to step back in time. The interior of the chateau has modern restoration on one side and historical restoration on the other. It is made of chalk limestone, behind the chateau are huge gardens with one side having the original French gardens layout, and a large lake for swimming. The VRBO apartment is a entire separate unit with a clothes washer and well equip kitchen. The hosts are helpful and kind. A sweet German Shepherd roams the courtyard and provides additional security beyond the historic moat and gates.
We spent two weeks at the Pavilion du Lac, a self contained apartment with good amenities (small washing machine, dishwasher, excellent shower, well laid out kitchenette and places to quietly sit and eat outside or in. There’s WiFi and a glorious 400 metre tree lined avenue before impressive wrought iron gates and a moat. The chateaux has been in the family for over 200 years and is set within a huge property including a lake (that’s swimmable). One Sunday, the chateaux was open to the public and there was a lot of interest. Marc, our host, was unintrusive, helpful, and had many recommendations. He also works hard to keep the estate tidy. We visited Troyes (60 mins), Rheims (40 mins) and Épernay (20 mins) and made several trips to Châlons-en-Champagne, just 15 mins away. The highlight was a visit to Lamiable champagne in Tours sur Marne (15 mins) where we bottled champagne. An absolutely lovely getaway that needs a bit of planning (restaurant hours are strict but we discovered lots of excellent places including the Auberge in neighbouring Matouche) but there is so much charm to explore. A frequent trip to the boulangerie in Recis (10 mins) was a delightful ritual. Avoid the champagne houses in Epernay and seek out the small farms. Two hours from Charles de Galle and a million miles from traffic jams. I hope we return.
