Stellar place, but really made perfect by the host

  • 5 of 5

A lot has been said above already. All I can say is that I can vouch for all of it. The house itself is excellent and affords everyone in a large group (we were 9) a little of their own space. The location - smack dab in the middle of Umbria and less than an hour to most hill towns - is ideal.

But what really makes this stand out is Gian - he clearly really loves having guests and bends over backwards to ensure you have a great stay and experience all that Umbria has to offer. I have stayed in many rental houses but have never had such a hands-on guide like Gian. Agroturismo should be paying him because he makes his own olive oil, knows all the grapes, and can speak to the history and must-sees of all of Umbria. Excellent, Gian, thanks!

Perfection in Umbria!

  • 5 of 5

You've looked at all of these reviews and I am sorry to say that they are all amazingly true! As a family trip we were looking for great space - check! Beautiful location with great access to medieval villages - check! What we also heard about from these reviews was how great our host - Gian - would be. He was instrumental in making this part of our Italian vacation perfect. Gian was thoughtful about our space, our daily itineraries, where we would eat the best regional food - the list goes on. The house with such good space (and kitchen!!) is perched on a range of hills overlooking vineyards and olive groves. You are a 10 minute drive to the village for groceries, bank etc and to the highway en route to Assisi, Perugia, Spoleto and other great locales. When asked where their favourite place was in Italy's - each member of my family answers the same - Umbira and Gian's house! Thank you Gian - you are an amazing host and Umbria itself is beautiful. We will be back!

A Magical Place to Stay while Exploring Umbria

  • 5 of 5

After spending a few days unwinding in beautiful Positano, we made the drive to Umbria to experience Torre del Maggio. Gian, you made me look very good to the entire group. There are few places that stand out in so many different ways. Not only is it a beautiful house in a gorgeous location, but you also have wonderful seclusion from the neighbors, a house that is laid out so that everyone can have as much privacy as they desire, all of the conveniences in the house you look for on vacation and on top of all that, a host that has such a big heart. Who could ask for more?

Gian happily jumped in to make suggestions before the trip, including a cooking class at the house with Giovanni and a wine/food pairing in Orvieto, then when we arrived put up with our abundant questions about the house, land, town, grape harvesting, and much more. A tour of Perugia and a wonderful lamb truffle dinner in the mountains with Gian just put the trip over the top.

If you have the chance to stay here, I cannot emphasize enough that you shouldn’t pass up the opportunity! Thank you, Gian, for sharing your wonderful house with us. If you are ever in Southern California or Colorado you have friends to stay with.

Simply the best place ever!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second trip to Torre del Maggio, and it was even more spectacular than the last--- if that can even be possible! Gian is, as always, the warmest, most gracious host, and goes above and beyond to make your stay at the villa memorable and fantastic. This year we noted with excitement some recent updates to the villa: air conditioning units in all the rooms, and a wonderful bump out extension of the kitchen to create an island good for cooking and entertaining, and opening the space to create an additional room and bath. The new room has sofas for relaxing and conversation and also has a television that can be viewed or used to play music. We thoroughly enjoyed this new addition and made the most of it during dinner celebrations, cooking class and general relaxation. The layout is well done and nicely appointed.

As with last year, the house and pool are wonderful; the views are incredible and we so enjoyed our stay there. It was personally wonderful to connect again with Gian and to meet some of his friends; truly an added bonus and one that we felt lucky to experience. And of course, the location in Umbia is perfect for exploring all the surrounding hill towns. This year we got to experience some local festivals and had a great time.

Thank you, Gian, for a spectacular vacation in your magical villa!! We hope to return again!💕

Our Italy Vacation in Todi

  • 5 of 5

I traveled to this beautiful place with my husband, other family, and friends. A total of six stayed at the villa with plenty of room and privacy when wanted. Gian was very helpful to me personally as I worked through all of the planning stages of this trip. He accommodated my need for food and provided me the service of a chef, Marta, who was his friend but also a wonderful person and chef. She really cared about us, our needs, and the food she prepared. Gian was always there throughout to make sure our stay was pleasant. I highly recommend a visit to take advantage of staying in the beautiful Italian countryside.

Our visit to Todi

  • 5 of 5

Amazing location and accommodations! We rented a van when we landed in Rome and during our stay drove to Florence, Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio, and Montalcino. We drove to Orte and grabbed a train to Rome for the day. All easily done from the villa. Gian, the host, is wonderful and a great support. He helped us with food and directions. He has friends that can host cooking classes and/or just come and cook dinner. We had an amazing dinner by his friend Marta. We utilized the grill for our own cooking and took advantage of the pool. We also were able to wash clothes, so important during a long stay. Overall, a lovely time and we are looking forward to going again, as the countryside is just beautiful.
