Wonderful retreat in the country but close to everything!

In the midst of a holiday between Paris and London, we decided to take a few days in the country, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cottage was the exactly the remedy we needed. The side patio offered a beautiful setting to put our feet up after a day of exploring nearby Honfleur or the DDay beaches. The kitchen was well equipped, there was a grill outside but no charcoal to cook with. The market was close by and the village on Honfleur was a wonderful tourist destination. Olivier was very welcoming and we got good advice in local resutaurants and sites from he and his son. I would highly recommend this spot for a small family or 2 couples. We loved having a couple of sheep in the 'backyard' and all the beautiful flowers around us as we sat outside. Wonderful vacation spot. Would definitely go back if I was in the area again.

Delightful Rustic house near Honfleur

We stayed at Le petit pressoir and had a lovely relaxing break. The house was very suitable for us being two couples as it had two double bedrooms-one upstairs with en suite bathroom and one downstairs with a separate bathroom. As the evenings were becoming cooler we had ample wood and lit an open fire. The property is a mass of beams, stone floors, exposed brickwork with a private garden. It has everything you need for a very pleasant stay in the heart of the Normandy countryside. It was hard to find though being situated on a no through road between Gites de Canet and a White House with white fencing if that helps future visitors.

Parkeren was zeer matig.

Charming Cottage

The little cottage was lovely. Very nicely decorated and clean. It is located close to the town of Honfleur...a bit of a walk but just a few minutes by car. The cottage was a bit difficult to find but once there we enjoyed our stay.

Rustic cottage complete with cobwebs

This is a rustic cottage complete with cobwebs, shabby furniture and old linens (which we had to pay extra for). The owner gave us incorrect directions and the cottage is very hard to find . It is about 5km from center of Honfleur which we liked very much. The owner did not connect with us but emailed a contact for a woman who spoke no English at all . I would not recommend staying here unless you bring your own linens and are ready to clean the place up. It is truly out in the middle of nowhere in a compound of other cottages . No restaurants or stores unless you go to Honfleur so you must have a car . The place needs new furniture and linens and a good cleaning throughout and Americans might find it unsuitable if you like clean and tidy and good access to restaurants and shops. We only used the cottage to sleep in as we were out all day and that was ok! God bless the mom that was picking up her child at the little school who spoke English and helped us to communicate with the lady who met us after we had to call her Twice instead of the owner who was 1000km away somewhere

Thank you for your appreciation, which is not the best we have had in 15 years! In response I give you a copy of an appreciation left by another American family who came a few days before you. This appreciation was published on rbnb site September 9th, 2018, and everybody can check it. David 9 sept : "Olivier has restored this property with exceptional attention to detail. The property has several structures on it and all fit perfectly within the landscape. Our small cottage is perfect for 2 people (although it has bedrooms to fit more). The private enclosed courtyard was our favorite place to sit and relax, whether with coffee in the morning or BBQ in the evening. The home was immaculate without being sterile. It has tremendous character throughout with the old wood beams, the wooden spiral staircase, the stone walls, etc. It truly is a country getaway. The location was very easy to move between Deauville to the south and Etretat to the north. Honfleur is literally down the street. In addition, Olivier introduced us to some smaller villages that we might have overlooked, like Villerville, a few minutes away. Cozy, private (even though within a larger property it absolutely offered privacy), authentic and with a fantastic host. Thank you for making our long weekend so relaxing and enjoyable!" Conclusion : we appreciate critics when they allow us to improve, but this time we promise not to change anything and keep the house as everybody like it ! Olivier
