House was old, quirky and not that clean

House was old, quirky and not that clean. Shower in master bath was super small. Front door does not open all the way as it scrapes on the tile. The house served its purpose, bit was just OK

Don't believe the reviews.

I would not recommend this property. Pleasant on initial appearance but very dated. Twin bunk beds nearly unsleepable due to thinness of mattress. Downstairs queen bed broken on arrival and although it was repaired the following day part of our party chose to sleep elsewhere. Package of ritz crackers and unused tampon beneath the bed. We would not return! The manager was pleasant, had bed fixed and promised us partial repayment of our fee but we have yet to see it!

Great place for a reunion

My family came from the east coast and Hawaii to gather here for a wedding and an extended visit. The house was well stocked and comfortable (except not enough table chairs). The piano was in tune! The yard was great for badmitten. The location was great - easy to get downtown and escape the city to the north. It was beautiful and private. We were pleased to find a community center, complete with groc, drugstore, bookstore, eatery, live music, farmer's market and more just around the corner down Hamlin Road. We had one problem and the owner was quick to respond to my phone call. The property was clean and well-maintained - GREAT washer and dryer. The layout worked well for our group of 8 adults and 4 children. Down one side are three bedrooms and bath. The second bath was through the master bedroom. It was handy having the laundry and half bath right off the kitchen. Those in the loft were wakened by other early risers and there were no curtains to shield the morning light. We were able to adapt. We could have children with card games or drawing at the table and musicians gathered in the living room - all in one large room. Several of the adults had to work while we were there and the internet connection worked great. I recommend this home to others. It added to our visit.

House Needs to be Maintained

I will start with the positive: the area is very nice, the trees in the backyard are pleasant, the piano was a nice addition. However, the house is not well maintained. The carpets, couch and rugs are very old and dirty. The bedding is all very old as well. The mattress pads were either stained or missing altogether. The fireplace did not work. They sent someone to fix it, but he was unable to do so. We also showed the handyman several other things that needed repair. He said he would come back, but did not. The owners offered to have the carpets and couch cleaned while we were there, but we did not want the interruption. The bathroom fixtures were lose. The master toilet seat slid to one side upon sitting. The dishes are all chipped. I could go on. We tried to get out of our contract and move to a hotel. The owners would not let us out of the contract unless the place was "unliveable". In my humble opinion, it was. Would not stay there again. We use VRBO to have an experience more pleasant than a hotel.

Perfect!!

Our stay at this house in Seattle was fabulous! The house worked perfect for our family. We had many family members with us and never felt crowded and the layout of this house is wonderful. We have many great memories to bring home with us. Thank you David for sharing your house!

Relax and quite place to stay.

It was very quiet and relaxing place. We enjoy the outdoor activities and the bbq in the backyard. The cabin is kind of old and several items need maintenance. We rented for one week and did not have any problem with anyone including the owner. There are many lakes, parks, stores, Starbucks within walking distance.

Great for Family Vacation

Our extended family gathered in Seattle recently at the Seattle Lodge in Forest Park. It was a perfect location for our group that included toddlers, dogs, (fenced backyard, parks nearby, and safe, quiet neigbourhood to walk in), and the combination of four families (lots of bathrooms and sleeping space for everyone!) The proximity to downtown via transit and driving was convenient, while the tranquility of the neighbourhood was calm and relaxing. David was available for the questions we had, and was easy and friendly to correspond with. We would recommend this rental to others and use it again in the future. Thanks David!

Stay in Seattle area.

The house was just as described. It is in a quiet area that is convenient to the locations and attractions we wanted to see and visit. It was quite comfortable for the 10 people that stayed here. Cozy, but very manageable. We rented 2 minivans while in Seattle and had no problems parking and getting in and out of the driveway. The house was clean, beds comfortable, every amenity that was needed was supplied. The entry door does drag a slight amount when opening but that was not a problem at all. Would not hesitate to stay here again, if in the Seattle area.

So great we would like to own it!

We love the Lodge! We have spent several weeks each of the last 2 winters at the lodge – great house, yard, and neighborhood for dogs and people. We’ve got our reservations in for this winter and are looking forward to our visit. The area has lots of parks and great shopping center with 2 pizza places, a Himalayan restaurant and an excellent American grill. The shopping center also has a department store, a bakery and a no fees ATM at the bank. It is only a 5 minute walk down the hill. As soon as we win the lottery the lodge will be unavailable – it will be ours!

Needs work

This property is for sale and I don't think any money has been put into it for quite awhile. Uneven and cracked tile, broken light switches, hole in deck, landscaping is bleak, knob missing on fireplace, mix matched sheets and towels, stained pillows and used bars of soap left in all the bathrooms are just some of the things I hope the new owner addresses. We had to go buy washclothes because we could only find one. If you have children you will need washclothes because the yard is basically dirt. They ask that you change the bedding before you leave. The bedding is stored in closets with way too many sheets, not sorted by size or color and that took up a lot of time as we were preparing to leave. Hard to find sets for most of the beds. Driveway is narrow and difficult to turn cars around before exiting onto street. That said, as a family we still had a great time. Several nice parks close by and groceries very convenient. Front porch is large and we sat there in the evenings and let the little ones play there so they could stay clean after baths. Large trees in back give privacy.

Peaceful and spiritually refreshing!

I just stayed three nights at the lodge and found it not only to be magical and charming in the peace that permeates the entire property, but it was also scrupulously clean. All of the furniture & rugs had been steam cleaned just prior to our arrival & there were lovely fresh flowers to welcome us. The beds are comfortable and the furniture is attractive & just right for lounging in front of the beautiful fire while watching a movie. I also soaked in the jetted tub which was fantastic. It's the first time I've ever filled a tub that size where the hot water didn't run out way too soon! I'll come back again as this location has a very special feel and is perfectly located for a lovely Seattle experience. I highly recommend the lodge for a truly relaxing and restful sojourn.

AWESOME!!!

Gallagher Family We've stayed here now a second time and can't say enough good things about the lodge. It's got great character. The magnificent trees and the pine forest scent are surprisingly refreshing. And so quiet, very serene. No barking dogs or street traffic. The constant insta-hot water for the showers was really helpful as we didn't run out of shower water like we have in other locations. The beds were very comfortable and the general ambiance of the lodge was amazing, especially the river rock fireplace and floor to ceiling windows. With DT Seattle so close by, I couldn't ask for a better Seattle experience. I recommend this to anyone really wanting to get away from it all and live in a beautiful home and forest setting for their upcoming vacation.

Nebraska Family

We had a great experience at the Lodge in Lake Forest Park. It was inviting and comfortable for our family of 5. Beautiful setting and a unique property. The kitchen was fairly well-equipped and having unlimited hot water was the best. All the various light switches were pretty confusing at first, but we managed to figure them out since many were marked. I thought the kitchen could use a little more organization - there were parts of small appliances in one cabinet that would have been hard to put together if I'd needed to use them. We bought ice because the refrigerator ice maker hadn't made any when we were setting up for a meal. Also, I walked through several cobwebs in doorways when we first got there so I wondered if it actually had been cleaned just prior to our stay. But overall, it was a wonderful place to stay and we definitely would seek to stay there again!

Great place to stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lodge. It was exactly as described and there were no disappointments from this group of four. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well supplied with dishes, utensils, cookware etc. We found the back deck a wonderful place to sit and relax after we'd finished our golf rounds. Thanks Dave for the great communication and clear instructions on accessing the lodge. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Paradise on Earth, Lord of the Rings trees

If you must have stainless steel and granite counter tops the lodge is not for you. Most people might comment on the ample amount of bedding or the incredible amount of exterior glass ( 3 glass French doors, a glass slider, picture window, glass block inserts, a sky-lite twice as big as any I've ever seen in a house and two two-story glass walls). But for me the highlight was the PRIVACY. You can see the roofs of nearby houses over the privacy fence only if you stand in just the right spot on the second floor. The fully fenced back yard was paradise-on-earth for our dog. And with the 100 foot trees, I half expected Gandolf to step out of Lord of the Rings and come striding up the hill to join me on the back deck. The location couldn't have been better with a 10 minute walk to the shopping center to meet all your needs with restaurants, a grocery store, and much more. For dog walkers, there are two nice parks (Animal Park and Blue Heron Park) less than 1/2 mile away. Both have doggie bag dispensers and waste cans. There is also a 20+ mile asphalt walkway within 1/2 a mile. My greatest fear is that my review might cause the lodge to already be rented should we want it next year. We spent two months in the lodge and I can't imagine a better situation.

A rare find!

I'm from San Francisco and my friends and I have stayed at the lodge more than once and have found it to be awesome. We love the woods, the close stores and restaurants, and the general upscale area where the home is located. The air is especially nice there, with the woods all around. There is easy fast access to downtown. Yet the lodge is in a really quiet laid back forested setting where quiet reigns. We really loved the interior's spacious loft overlooking the living room, the floor to ceiling windows, lots of character and all the beds are really comfortable, serving up a good night's sleep for us all. The endless hot water in the bathroom showers was also much appreciated as many times we have two showers running, both running back to back showers. All in all this is a great place, very functional and gorgeous ta boot. It fit all our needs. We would come back again and most likely will. For a true Pacific Northwest experience, I highly recommend this great location.

Lovely destination for large families!

Right from the initial inquiry, the owner was very quick to answer questions and guide us in our reservation for this beautiful home. The house is charming and comfortable for our large family gathering that needed to accommodate 12 of us. The beds and linens were comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with what ever you could imagine needing for meal preparation. Do check all the cupboards before you shop since you will find quite a few staples that have been generously left by prior guests. The living room and dining areas invite group gatherings in comfort. The location is very private with lush woodland surroundings. Just a short walk down 165th puts you on the Burke-Gilman Trail along Lake Washington. We walked a short distance north to the Starbucks for our morning paper. The Haggen's grocery is in that complex along with a great Farmer's Market. The location was perfect. It is very easy to get to the Interstate, to the 405 that goes on the eastside of the lake. Or directly west towards some of the ferry terminals. The heating is a little tricky in this bumped out a-frame. Our recommendations would be to keep the ceiling fans on medium and open all the bedroom and bathroom doors during the day while the heat is on for even distribution. We loved our stay here. I would recommend to anyone as a great home base as you explore all there is to see in the PNW.

Fabulous Vacation Spot We Will Return To

We had the pleasure of staying 4 nights at this lovely property and was delighted and felt right at home the minute we opened the front door. David, the owner is most accommodating and takes great pride in his home and obviously loves sharing it with people who appreciate a conscientious owner. The rooms were pristine, warm and inviting. We enjoyed the deck dining and the quiet serene forest setting surrounding the house. So quiet! I also loved the different unique architecture of the Lodge and the easy access to gas banks grocery stores etc within a few blocks. We had several homes to consider and I'm very picky, but loved the ambiance of an older home with a grand piano. The guest book reassured us that we were in experienced hands by someone who cared. Thank you David, your property is fantastic; exactly what we needed, clean, cozy and a delightful experience for our first trip to the Pacific Northwest. My family and I will return next year without hesitation. See you next year! Roni L. Wise RN

Quiet, peaceful, with lots of space. We are always rested when we leave. Our third stay and we are never disappointed. David is easy to deal with, and always available if needed. I honestly cannot think of any negatives about the Lodge. We will definitely be back.
