Breaktaking waterfront property. The Bay borders Colington Harbour, Kill Devil Hills and the southern regions of Kitty Hawk in addition to the miles of open waters of the Albemarle sound. The Bay is a semi-circle which is protected from the expanse of the sound by the northern borders of Kitty Hawk which jet out into the water, and the southern island of Colington which also sticks out and curves north, providing the lagoon-like shape of Kitty Hawk Bay. This is a prime location for birds and wildlife. You might see dolphins and egrets. There are two excellent restaurants nearby.

The place is super cute. Love the location. Bonus was being able to use the kayaks, paddle boards, and kids toys at the house. We had a great vacation here.
We had an awesome time at the beach. Staying on the Sound side was wonderful for young children to play in the sand and the water. The neighbor we talked to was friendly too! The house was great and the owners responded so quickly to a couple of questions we had. Highly recommend. Thank you for a great vacation!
Location, location, location. The rental property is in a great location. Love the private pier ! Having 3 decks/patio is so helpful. The house is very well equiped with everything that you need. The owners are very quick to respond with answers and helpful suggestions. Extra bonus: gorgeous sunsets !!
Nice sailboat and kayaks included, also not a bad windsurfing spot
We only used the first floor, but if needed there is another bedroom upstairs and one bed in a loft upstairs. It is an older little house, so there are nice trees around. We are windsurfers, and luckily there was a good wind for a couple of days, lots of planing. It is deep enough for windsurf and even for foil, but be aware of some weeds, it is best to use weedfins. Plenty of space around the house for your gear. There is a nice lagoon to the right, very safe for windsurfing and protected by some marsh so even with strong winds the chop is minor.
On a windless day we took out kayaks that are included with the house and crossed the bay (about 2.5 km) to explore some canals on the other side as well as in nearby marsh area, great day! And another day wind was not strong enough to get windsurf planing (i.e. for go at 15-30mph) so we took out the little sailboat that also came with the house ('sunfish'), first time I used that kind, but it was very easy to setup and sail, we sailed across the bay accompanied with few cans of beer, very relaxing after windsurfing :-)

Uncomfortable setting in living room
Beds were uncomfortable, sheets poor quality poor lighting, pictures showed two dining tables and there were no dining table, clothes in closet and items left in refrigerator, no dresser in bedroom , closet upstairs was full so unable to use
The house was perfect for our family of 5. Plenty of room and more than enough beds. The home is decorated beautifully and all the furniture is so comfortable! The decks are large and spacious with a gorgeous view of the bay. The beach area is wonderful with calm shallow water perfect for young children. They gave kayaks and chairs available. Overall this is a wonderful property! Will definitely stay again
A+ experience! Hosts were top notch.. helpful and hospitable..went above and beyond to accommodate. House was clean and well stocked. Great location. Couldn’t ask for more!
We had a great time at this property. The owners got us in a couple hours early and were very prompt communicating with us. We loved using the kayaks and other amenities. Loved that there were some staples in the kitchen for us to use as well. Would stay here again!
Great location with awesome waterfront view. The space is small but good for a small family.
Great communication with host, easy getting in. The outside space is great (deck on two levels and private beach area). Good option for a small family.
Loved the property and view. Far enough away from town to have privacy, quiet, and the view, but close enough to easily go into town for things we needed or to pick up dinner. The owners were very helpful before and during the trip. Check in and out was easy. No complaints!

The view from the dining room/living room was indeed beautiful and we loved looking out while eating meals. Unfortunately, that was the main positive. When we arrived on Saturday, there was not hot water. We alerted the contact given to us by the owner and she offered to come by end of day on Sunday. The hot water heater did get repaired Monday morning. However, repairing the hot water heater released roach type bugs from a wall where the water heater was stored. So, we closed off that powder room and no longer used the loft floor. When asked if a pesticide application could be sprayed behind the removeable wall, we received no response.
There are no queen size beds, only full size beds. There is no sofa with a back, only a day bed, which is not comfortable to sit on for any length of time. When I sat on the only other chair in the living room, it collapsed and was not replaced for 10 days (I am not a large person). The main bedroom had the bed pushed up against the wall so that you have to climb over your spouse. There were NO dressers and NO available closet space. Be prepared to live out of your suitcase, and there is no floor space, so you need to used the chair.
There were three single kayaks, but no tandem kayaks. The beach supplies in lower level were strewn across the floors of three rooms under the house full of bugs and dirt. The dryer top had dead bugs , lint and dirt on it. The refrigerator and freezer are not cleaned out between guests, and there were broken empty egg shells in an egg carton. The freezer also had old food. The pantry cabinet had crumbs all through it. There was a small blood stain on an upstairs quilt and a washcloth. I was told by the housekeeper that they just can’t get the stains out sometimes. So, replace the stained items!
This rental is 4.5 miles from the ocean. While it is a great neighborhood to live in if we were there full time, we prefer to be walking or biking distance to the beach. The main road was too winding with no bike path to make it a safe ride to cycle.
The house next door is a better kept 6 bedroom that rented for less than the tight one bedroom loft.
This rental was not accurately described and we would not have rented with full size beds. It has a lot of potential but fell way below expectations.

Andrea we are so sorry that you are disappointed. The plumber was able to address this issue within a day, you mentioned that the breaker was tripped and he flipped the breaker for you. We do have pest control service to treat the water bugs and they were sent immediately to dust the pipes and treat around water heater. The storage under the home is where guests can store the beach supplies and we apologize if they were not arranged off the floor. We will ask housecleaning to check on this in the future. Housecleaning does leave fresh unopened condiments that are still good in the refrigerator. As an aside, the property next door is a duplex. We do have queen beds as I purchase the queen sheets for them. We did inform you know that this home is located on the sound and not the ocean. Regardless of the accidental broken chair, we will not leave you a bad review. Our cleaners did say that you left the house in excellent condition, just as you found it when you arrived and we appreciate that. We wish you all the best!
