Great for families with kids. Easy access for the elderly. Miles of Beach combing. Top Spot on the beach (not just an ocean view). 60 feet of Window views. Crabbing at the house; tie up your boat. Only a dozen steps from the beach, Most friends say, 'It's the best location to enjoy the Ocean & Coast sites.' The hosts are pleasant to work with. That, along with Shorepoint's location, makes it the destination that has many continuous repeat guests.
Families can build sandcastles or go sea-shelling. Play Frisbee or while glancing at fishing boats or seal watching, enjoy the waves splash on the beach, and watch them paint the shore as you enjoy your breakfast or dinner while watching the kids (or the grand parents) It's a wonderful vacation retreat!

Carol & I direct two charitable organizations, one that supports charitable efforts in Israel for 3 decades & one that assists family & children with special needs here in Oregon. Often, this home is used to help a family who need some special type of support. We also operate a beautiful retreat in the Southwest Oregon area called Cascade Mountain Ranch, a wilderness retreat & family reunion getaway that can sleep 60 plus guests. Jeff & Carol travel regularly to Israel in their continued work to minister & develop various charitable projects. Jeff serves on the University of the Holyland board in Jerusalem, has been the Intl' tour director for the Embassy for many years, both developed the National youth & Children's Camps during Passover, & now hosts exclusive groups of 6 to 8 guests only on 'People, Places & Project trips' to Israel. (no better way to truly experience 'ALL of ISRAEL'.) Carol & Jeff have their home in Medford, OR with short residential stays in Jerusalem.
Carol Shelton purchased this house in 1989
Shorepoint has been the prime spot for Coast vacationing & getaways. With four miles of sandy beaches; seals, pelicans & crabbing galore, an easy trip from any place in Oregon & beyond, neat little shops in a New England like fishing setting, it's a great change of pace. The kids love it and the Grandfolks can access the beach. The great room is wonderful & can seat 20 people. No homes on either side, just beach makes it open all around. Spacious, safe, fireplace cozy, just right.
Shelling, bird watching, kiting, sand castles, because other rentals are near it's good for a collective family gathering. Crabbing is great, or we like to walk the miles on the beach. The best weather quite often is March thru May & September thru mid-November. The Markets are just over the bridge in Waldport. We love it.
The view and location are 5 star! The reason I gave it 4 stars was because the refrigerator was really dirty when we arrived, there is no heat in third bedroom with the bunk beds so it was COLD and it took us 3 days to find the remote to the TV. Having said that, none of those would prevent us from staying there again! Our family of 9 had a great week there over Thanksgiving. Kids played in the sand and water and we could supervise from the deck. The kitchen was really well appointed, we cooked Thanksgiving dinner there and had everything we needed to do so. I would recommend this rental to anyone with kids looking for a great beach rental.
Fantastic gathering place for our family. Thank you for your hospitality. Our choice for crabbing season!!!
Location is perfect.. a few small things had issues but it didn't affect our stay.. beautiful location in a comfortable home with kind owners. Can't say enough about it!!
We just finished a week long stay. The house was an older home but we knew this going in. The only issue we had was the stove top was challenging to get to work and the refrigerator in the garage for crap was not working (the freezer worked though). The owner was great to work with and Debbie the care taker was a pleasure to deal with. The bay was right out he back door and the walk down the beach to the ocean was easy and lead to Sea Lion viewing daily. You can't hardly get much closer to a perfect location than this beach house. Plenty of room to fly kites and crabbing right out from the house in the bay got us 18 keepers and we feed plenty of females our bait. The house was clean and fit 8 people comfortably. Plenty of seating for the whole family. The TV is a little dated but worked fine for our grand kids on the rainy days. Plenty of bird watching and was definitely a place we would book again. Thank you again for allowing our family to have a great vacation at your home.
I'll start with the great, the view is spectacular and it made offloading people from the boat to the house a snap. This alone might make up for the price to size ratio.
The good, everything worked and it was great to have a couple extra crab rings to lay with.
The bad.... The house is NOT a true 3 bedroom. The third bedroom is a closet that now has a bunk bed in it. For all intensive purposes the third bedroom would not be easy for an older person to deal with. Kids are okay though. Be advised if you need three legitimate bedrooms do not rent. The price is also not appropriate considering the size of the house. It should be at least $50 less a night as I've stayed in three other homes in the neighborhood and I felt all of them were a better value. However the view can't be beat.
Stayed for 7 days. Wonderful location. Beautiful views of the bay and bridge. House is located right on the bay. Crabbed right off the back deck. Saw eagles, osprey, and harbor seals. House is an older home, but well taken care of. Room with bunk beds is small, but accommodates the little ones. Had a wonderful time. The owners are good to work with, and informative. Will stay here again.
Hatfield Marine Science Center, Oregon State University's marine biology headquarters is involved in research and visitor education, A few miles away you will find the famous Oregon Coast Aquarium with many wonderful exhibits; including the 'Passages of the Deep' a 1.32 million gallon exhibit featuring 3 realistic ocean habitats connected by a 200-foot long underwater tunnel, Newport is also home to 2 lighthouses (Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and Yaquina Head Lighthouse), You may also want to keep an eye out for gray whales just off the shoreline.
