Bike trails to Wright Brothers Monument, fishing pier, cinema, shopping and food so close by. It's perfect for your boats or outdoor gear. Located close to public boat ramp in quiet family friendly neighborhood, removed from the traffic yet right in the middle of town. WiFi provided. Just Enough

This house is perfect for a couple’s get away. Conveniently located & close to everything.The house was clean, the kitchen was well equipped, and the deck is the perfect place to relax! We went to the beach, rode bikes, & cooked delicious meals in the kitchen. Don’t skip a duck donut!

Cozy and near everthing

This place was great! We were tucked at the end of the street with only 1 neighbor. But so close to the beach and the grocery store and Duck Donuts!

Wonderful Beach Cottage

Second stay at Rose’s beach cottage and we got to meet Rose, she’s absolutely wonderful and a great host. Great location, private backyard, always very clean, and super close to the beach. Lovely place to stay with the furbabies, We look forward to coming back!

Mermaid Cottage

Perfect place for us, had all we needed and more; nautical deco that i wantrd to copy. Quiet neighborhood. Rose was a great host and gave us great recommendations for everything we asked. She's a long time local so she's in the know. Comfortable bed. If we return to OBX this is our go to place.

Family fun

Our family enjoyed our stay in OBX. The house was clean with plenty of cookie supplies, nice space under the house. Lots of towels provided by Rose which was great as the house does not have a washer and dryer. Rose was very helpful and quick to make a small repair on the outdoor shower.

Wonderful

Great place to stay with our little family! Its so hard to find a vacation home that also allows 2 large dogs so this place was perfect! Just off the main highway, but in a nice secluded area. Had all the amenities you could think, especially in the kitchen. The outdoor area was a perfect hang out spot for everyone! Rose checked in a few times to see if we needed anything and gave us plenty of information about things to do and places to go. Thank you so much, we enjoyed our stay!

Great place!

Rose was quick to respond to any questions or requests that we had. She and her husband came by during our stay and were both very nice people. This house was very clean and the beds/pillows were super comfortable.

Great beach getaway

We come to OBX routinely to see family. This time we decided to bring the dogs with us for some beach fun. Location was convenient. Rose was an absolute wonderful host. Had a great time.

Loved loved LOVED

We stayed with my husband, 2 kids (ages 7 & 10) our dogs and myself. It was such a lovely, quaint house. We enjoyed the outdoor shower and area underneath the house very much! Loved that it was on a dead end and it offered a little more privacy. The house was perfect and everything we needed for our family vacay! Rose was very easy and accommodating! Thank you Rose!

Awesome!

The house was just what we needed for the two of us and a dog! Rose was kind enough to stop by and introduce herself. The location is close to everything and yet we still felt away from people/places being tucked in the back of the dead end street! We look forward to future trips!

Great place!

This place was perfect for our family and dogs! We loved that it was at the end of the road against trees for taking the dogs out. The house was comfortable and setup nicely! We found everything we needed in the house. We loved how it was close to everything and the neighborhood was quiet. Rose is a sweetheart and welcomed us with cookies and fresh eggs from her chickens! We will definitely try to book here again in the future 😀

Fun and Relaxing!

Our family had such a special vacation here. Rose was very welcoming and accommodating! There is crosswalks to walk to the beach which worked out really well for us. Grocery close by and teens had freedom to walk to duck donuts and shopping. The place was clean and cozy…great AC for the heat! Loved under the deck and a nice quiet neighborhood. We would love to return here! Thank you Rose!

Loved This Place!

My boyfriend, dog and I had a great time at the Mermaid’s Purse! The place was very clean and Rose was so great - answered all our questions about the area and gave us excellent recommendations. We loved the pine forest backyard - the dog got to run around and didn’t want to leave! Also, the decorations added a great touch - I counted all the mermaids - there are 22! We hope to return soon.

The Best Vacation Ever!

Wonderful , Wonderful place ! Cozy and charming! We had everything we needed in this beautiful cottage. The hostess was so kind to think through every single detail. It is so well decorated , with great taste. Space is so well organized, kitchen has everything you need and want for cooking. Every thing you need for the vacation at the beach , you get in this place. Very accommodating for two kids ( 2 years old and under) . Rose is a wonderful hostess! We would love to come if we can .

Mermaid's Purse bday & proposal

due to length of stay, most OBX rentals required a week long stay... thankfully we came across this location that didn't. Rose was accommodating and maintained great communication with me in the week leading up to check-in. What initially was just meant to be a weekend spent with friends for my birthday turned into a proposal with my now fiancée. Everything was perfect for this to happen and would not have been possible without the cute cottage.

Comfortable home base

The Mermaids purse was a comfortable home base for us to stay on our trip to the outer banks. The beds were comfortable and The house was well equipped with what we needed to make meals for the family. We are used to sitting at a table together, our three boys were able to sit at the counter bar to eat. A couple of kitchen chairs would have been helpful for my husband and I to sit at the small table. The location felt private and was close to the beach and other sights we were interested in visiting. There was noise from the main road and car wash early in the mornings. Rose was welcoming and gave us lots of helpful insider information for parking and things to do. She provided toys and boogie boards for the kids to use at the beach. She also left a basket of snacks and goodies for us to enjoy. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Mermaids Purse.

PERFECT Home Away From Home!

This adorable little cottage was perfect for our family! It was nicely updated, clean and very well stocked with linens. With five of us we never ran out of towels. We have three boys, 17, 16 and 9. We had plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy their time while we were there. It's a very short walk to the beach with a shortcut path in the front yard. If you choose to drive to the beach, there are beach access parking areas just down the street. Grocery store, gas station, retail stores and most importantly DUCK DOUGHNUTS are right next door. I cooked several meals during our stay and the kitchen is well stocked. There is also a gas grill and we used that. If there is anything you find you need that isn't there, Wayne and Rose will do their best to accommodate you. We handlined for crabs one afternoon. Wayne gave us directions to the best spot to catch crabs and while we were out he brought over his propane tank, cooker stand and steamer pot for us to use. Dinner was delicious that night! My older boys loved the outdoor shower and I loved less sand to clean up. There are lots of puzzles, board games and yard games for the kids to entertain themselves with on rainy afternoons. The Wifi is teenager approved as well. The listing says no TV, but they do have one with streaming services on it.

Wonderful cottage at the end of a private street. Dog friendly and centrally located to everything. Enjoyed our vacation here. Very comfortable.

We have lived on the Outer Banks since 1975. The ocean called Wayne here to surf from Hampton Va. many years ago and we couldn't live anywhere else now. We raised two beautiful girls here, one still in high school off to college soon. I attended ECU , Special Ed. teacher. Wayne is a professional house painter.
