The Château de Saü, a family property since 1846, is located between the sea and the mountains, in the Pyrénées-Orientales.

In an exceptional setting, the castle has 13 bedrooms, sleeps 28, a large wooded park and a private swimming pool, ideal for large families or groups of friends. The pool area includes a kitchen, a bowling alley, table tennis, deck chairs...
The rooms are all equipped with bathrooms and toilets.
The 4 kitchens are fully equipped (including one at the pool).
The accommodation includes: 1 billiard room, 3 living rooms, 1 large dining room.

The property is located 2 km from the town of Thuir, 15 minutes by car from Perpignan train station, close to the beautiful Mediterranean beaches, the coves of Collioure, Spain and the mountains. The accommodation has a breathtaking view of the Canigou and the vineyards.

The chateau was truly beautiful, the location was great surrounded by apricot trees and a short drive into Thuir, good for a coffee and shopping and the grounds were fantastic, we especially enjoyed the swimming pool and the paddle court, it was a great place for a family of 26 people to spend time together.

We stayed in the chateau with six adults and 22 teenage girls, luckily the chateau is big enough that we weren’t on top of each other all the time. Camille (the property manager) enabled us to tour the chateau prior to our stay and answered any queries we had.Honestly you couldn’t ask for a nicer place to stay.

Magnifique!

We were a group of 6 families (28 in total) and had a fantastic stay at the beautiful chateau. Lots to do and see in the region. Jean-Loup is an excellent host and very accommodating.

Ideal place for a familyreunion. A lot of space and many possibilities to do on place like playing padell, boccia or having a swim.Having "kitchenstuff" on 3 different floors and not allowed to mix them is a little bit difficult.

Fantastic

We enjoyed a fabulous holiday at this magical property. Beautiful setting , huge house with excellent facilities the highlight of which is the outdoor pool kitchen and area. Jean-Loup is charming and a very obliging host but also very discrete. We hope to return!

Wonderful chateau for a large group

25 family members met up here for my mum's 85th birthday and had a wonderful time. Chateau de Sau is an amazing place. It is huge: there were whole rooms that we hardly used. The four kitchens made it easy to cater. The pool and its kitchen were great. Thuir is a nice little town with a couple of good places to eat.The owners, Isabelle and Jean Loup were very helpful.

Beautiful chateau with a wonderful welcome

Our stay was a complete delight. Gorgeous location with a view of snow-topped mountains in the distance, with a house filled with personality and character, we weren’t short on activities (pool, paddel, board games and more) and only wish we’d stayed longer. The bedroom are large, and the bathrooms are immaculate (and plentiful). We had a very big group (22 at its smallest, 28 at its largest), but the host was incredibly helpful in helping us settle in - always gracious, very responsive whenever anything needed attention, and very generous with his time and with the local apricots! We can’t wait to stay here again.

A Perfect Stay

This chateau or "grand maison" provided everything my group of 18 expected. The house is beautifully maintained and presented. The host is very helpful and easy to deal with. The building consists of 4 floors with ensuites in all but one of the 13 bedrooms, and each floor has its own kitchen. There are facilities galore from a swimming pool to a mini tennis court. The house is situated in a rural setting, but only two kilometers from a shopping centre with supermarket and restaurants. In terms of value for money, you could not ask for more. It is easy to recommend this place.

Le jardin, le terrain de Padel et la piscine sont très sympa, très agréables. La maison est partiellement rénovée, notamment les salles de bains et cuisines. Les salons sont restés "dans leur jus" mais ca a du incontestablement du charme. Merci!

Amazing place!

We so enjoyed our stay at Jean-Loup’s place. It was spotlessly clean and so much better than the description and pictures on the website showed. There were no other guests (apart from the host’s family) during our stay so we had the pool and pool facilities to ourselves (this included a full kitchen, shower, toilet and changing area and dining area). All the rooms in the house are spacious, elegantly furnished and have their own bathroom. The family were super hospitable and gave us some great recommendations for places to visit in the area. They also arranged for a cook to come and prepare local Catalan cuisine for us, which was great. Any questions we had, were answered quickly and helpfully. Despite the heat the week we stayed, the house is very cool and the ceiling fans in the bedrooms provide the needed cooling. I would highly recommend the place to anyone.

Le château du domaine de Sau est un bien exceptionnel dans une région très agréable. Pour le moment, seul le 3e étage est loué ce qui offre plus de 200m2 de surface habitable et 4 chambres. Cet espace est tout équipé et offre tout le confort nécessaire. De plus, un espace cuisine et salle de bain / WC est disponible près de la piscine, un vrai plus. La vue du troisième étage donne sur les montagnes et les couches de soleil sont à couper le souffle. Enfin, les propriétaires sont vraiment sympathiques et ont rendu ce séjour encore plus agréable. Séjour exceptionnel au Domaine de Saü

Une semaine dans un domaine familial d'exception dans les Pyrénées Orientales, qui se distingue par la beauté d'une demeure cernée par d'un parc magnifique et particulièrement bien entretenu avec un accès privilégié à une piscine privative qui se dissimule derrière des haies de lauriers roses. Les conditions sont réunies pour profiter d'un barbecue en toute tranquillité et intimité en profitant d'une vue dégagée sur le Canigou qui se dresse à quelques encablures. Du haut du troisième étage, la vue inspire d'autant plus à la sérénité. Le Château de Saü qui se dresse au bout d'une allée de platanes, réunit le confort moderne d'une bâtisse chargée d'histoire (ancienne propriété viticole) et inspire à la quiétude tant il semble protégé du tumulte urbain. Une escapade idéale en Occitanie pour prendre le temps de vivre et de s'abreuver du plaisir simple de la convivialité : merci à Monsieur Passama, qui outre la qualité de son accueil, a fait preuve d'une disponibilité sur mesure. Sa gentillesse est un encouragement à revenir.

A perfect location

Chateau de Sau has a fantastic setting in the centre of mature gardens, surrounded by vineyards and apricot orchards. This newly renovated property occupies the whole top floor and comfortably accommodates 8 people. The decor and facilities are stylish and modern. There are many things to do in the local area but if you just want to relax by the pool it also has a kitchen complete with fridge freezer, hob and dishwasher for alfresco dining. A changing room with toilet and shower has also been recently fitted. The owners live close to the property and were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, an excellent holiday! We would definitely revisit.
