WALK TO THE BEACH IN MINUTES ! Beautiful, open concept 1,900 sq. ft, 3-bedroom townhouse in prime location ( ( (ocean side of Route 1). Located directly at northbound trolley stop #36, less than one-mile north of Ogunquit Center. The building abuts 22 acres of conservation land with walking trails overlooking the Ogunquit River and of course, the ocean. Avoid the mainstream beach traffic by taking the trolley for one stop, or walk less than 10 minutes to less-crowded, Footbridge Beach described by Boston Magazine as “among the most immaculate stretches of coastline in New England,” with its signature plank and piling footbridge over the Ogunquit River. Townhouse Details: Fully air-conditioned, high speed wireless Internet, computer, telephone, TVs in each bedroom and downstairs area, 3 bedrooms (2 Kings, 2 single beds and one new Queen comfort sleeper pull-out sofa). All quality mattresses and bedding. 2 bathrooms with a Jacuzzi Tub in the Master Bath. A gazebo in the private BBQ area provides a nice option for sitting outside to enjoy early morning coffee or evening reading and a drink. Washer/Dryer on 2nd floor. Great vacation rental!

Perfect place for our family vacation to Maine! House was comfortable with everything you could need. The location was great- very close to beach, and a trolley stop right in front of the house when we wanted to go to town. It was a huge plus that all of the linens were included. Really nice that Netflix and a computer were there for us to use. So glad we picked this property!

Clean, spacious home in wonderful location

We had a wonderful stay at this home. Gail was gracious, quick and thorough answering questions that I had regarding the property prior to arrival. The house was very clean and well-appointed. We were pleasantly surprised as the home was even more spacious than the pictures suggested. It is a quick and easy walk to the beautiful and special Footbridge beach and about a mile from the town center. Highly recommend!!!

Our favorite Ogunquit rental. Clean, spacious and close to footbridge.

We've stayed at Distant Sands several times over the years with the previous owners and this time was just as nice. Gail and her husband have kept same high standards as before. Plenty of room for our group of 6-7. Comfortable beds, plenty of extra blankets. Easy booking and prompt communicating. Kitchen is well stocked and has everything you need. We love the close walking proximity to Footbridge beach. It's a 5 minute walk or sometimes my husband would load the truck and drop us off and walk back. We had pizza one night from just across the street which was very good. We love the access to everything, trolleys, restaurants and beach! The only minor glitch is the poor cell reception but a landline is provided to accommodate calls. We're there for the beach anyway. We also enjoyed the Beach House wine left for us at check-in.Nice touch!! We would return in a heart beat!!

Great Summer House !!!!!!

We spent a wonderful week in this house. Gail has done an amazing job in providing all the necessities and nice decor. The home is very inviting and extremely clean. The location was perfect for all our outings. The beach is very nice and not crowded unlike others. We enjoyed going in late afternoon. There are plenty of activities for children and don't forget to take them to FunTown . The weather was great, enjoyed driving around exploring the coastline. If you like good clam chowder go to the Lobster Cove ..it was yummy....I highly recommend this rental property. ..Gail provided very good customer service ..Extremely happy ..

Townhouse close to the beach

I would like to start out by saying that we have rented this townhouse for the past 6 years and this year, 2015 will be the 7th. My children and grandchildren love it there. I have nothing but good things to say about this townhouse. It is located about one mile north of Ogunquit. It is within walking distance to the beach (no daily parking charges for the beach). There is plenty of private parking (we bring 3 vehicles and there is room for a couple more). The townhouse is also located right on the bus line. Supermarkets and restaurants are close. The townhouse has an open layout downstairs (good for children) with a lament floor. The upstairs is carpeted and all of the bedrooms are located upstairs. Everything you can think of is available in the townhouse. Cooking utensils, microwave, washer and dryer etc. The new owners have added a computer for everyone to use. There is an entertainment center. Beach toys, umbrella and beach towels are available. there is also an outside sitting area as well as a grill. Everyone in our family has commented at one time or another that we feel at home there.

BEAUTIFUL BEACHHOUSE

This was our first time staying here.Had a wonderful,restful week.We were 5 adults and had plenty of room. The beach house is beautifully decorated, warm and inviting, clean and spacious. The beds are very comfortable. Everything you need for cooking is provided and up to date. We ate dinner across the street at the BeachFire Bar & Grill and was delicious.Nice walk to the beach and access to the trolley, which takes you to the center of Ogunquit & Perkins Cove making it very easy to get around. Gail is very helpful in assuring all your needs and would highly recommend this beachhouse!!

Great week in Maine!

We had a wonderful week in this beach house. We had three adults and 5 children ages 11-17. The place was very clean and had everything we needed. The kids loved playing games at the large dining table. We walked almost every where we went. A quick walk to a beautiful beach. We walked the beach to Ogunquit and walked the street back from down town. Gail was available by phone and helpful whenever we needed something. I would definitely recommend this place for adults and families. Great location if you like to walk. Our only recommendation was an outside hose for rinsing off beach toys and feet.

Best vacation experience to date!

My extended family stayed in this this townhouse this past August. The owner, Gail was so nice and accommodating throughout the booking process. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. The property is spacious, modern, clean and a short walk to the beach, as well as across the street to the trolley. The open concept first floor guaranteed that we were all able to comfortably spend time together. The bedrooms are all very comfortable as well. My family and I go away together every summer, and this is the first time we were all pleased with our accommodations. We will definitely be back!

A gem near the ocean

The location, living space, furnishings, and amenities will ensure that you enjoy your vacation in Ogunquit. The owners have thought to provide many extras such as linens, dishes, board games, etc. I have enjoyed many summers staying in this house. You will, too.

Amazing Vacation Rental

This was our first year renting from Lou and Joanne, and it was an amazing experience. The owners are incredibly accommodating. I spoke to Joanne via email several times; she is very helpful and quick to respond. The house is chock full of all the comforts of home. Because of all the “extras” the owners provide, we didn’t feel the need to rush out to the grocery store as soon as we arrived. From stamped postcards, to a highchair for our daughter, to a bin of snacks…they have truly thought of everything! Just as the description promised, the house was roomy and meticulously kept. I am rarely comfortable when sleeping away from home and I was very comfortable spending a week in this house. It has a “home away from home” feel that I have never encountered in any other beach rental. Without hesitation I would say, this is the place to stay!!

Rent this House!

To answer the quesitons in the tips section: - This is a wonderfully clean, well kept house in a great location. the description and photos is the add are accurate and exactly what you can expect. -Customer service provided by the owners is top notch. We have rented from Lou and Joanne for the past two summers ('09 and '10) and have had a wonderful experience both times. - Would gladly recommend this propertly to others (secretly, we don't want to tell anyone about it so we can ensure we have the weeks we would liketo ourselves in the future) As previous review provided, 1/2 mile from Footbridge beach on a quiet street - easy walk even with a 4 year old on my shoulders. Trolley stop in either direction on route 1 is in front of the house. Great house - as my title provides - RENT THIS HOUSE! - stop looking - this is the place for you.

A perfect vacation rental experience

Our family has rented from Lou and Joanne for the past two years, and we're already looking forward to returning next year. The townhouse is very clean, extremely well-maintained and stocked with amenities you'd find in your own house but wouldn't expect to find in a vacation rental. For example, when we had to repair a rip in my son's bathing suit this year, we found a small sewing kit in one of the kitchen drawers, instead of having to run to the store. The house is located less than a 1/2 mile from Footbridge Beach (an easy walk for my 7 and 9 year olds) and about 1 mile north of town center on Route 1 (we don't find noise from Route 1 to be an issue at all). As for the owners, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone more responsive, genuine and pleasant to deal with than Lou and Joanne. All in all, we couldn't ask for a better vacation rental experience.

The Perfect Vacation Spot

It doesn't get any better than this beautiful property that is a just a short walk to beautiful Footbridge Beach. The owners have even left a rolling cart to make taking chairs, cooler, and bags even easier. In fact, the owners have anticipated visitors' every need from internet connection to fluffy towels to paper goods. The furniture is stylish and much more than you would expect from a "beach house." This just isn't your typical beach house. The beds are so comfortable that if you're not careful, you'll sleep too late and lose beach time. I've already reserved a week for next year!

My family (wife and me, with three young kids) have rented several vacation houses, and this one stands out. There is clear pride of ownership, as evidenced by the cleanliness and new features. What really stands out, however, are the thoughtful details -- e.g., the stamped postcards; the snacks on the counter; the sand toys and beach equipment; the paper towels, napkins and spices (how annoying is it to have to get those things with other houses?); and many others. It's a short walk to a family-friendly beach, and we appreciated the fact that the house is just a bit removed from the chaos and congestion of the town center (yet still within walking distance). The traffic on Route 1 can be a bit noisy, but it tends to die down at night. All in all, a first-rate vacation option -- we recommend it without reservation!
