Beautiful North Truro Cottage

Bedrooms 1
Space 650 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2 or 3

This beautiful and restful four-season cottage near bay and ocean beaches combines the comfort and ease of modern amenities with the charm of exposed beams and natural pine floors. The building, a renovated barn, has two stories, fifteen by twenty feet, with an attached full bathroom. The cottage is now completely solar-powered. Downstairs the open floor plan has a comfortable seating area with a daybed/couch, a dining table, and a fully equipped kitchen. French doors lead to a screened-in porch with table and chairs, creating a sense of continuous space, inside and out. Upstairs is light and airy, with windows looking over the back hill, gardens, and a large cherry tree full of songbirds. There is a high-quality queen bed and single bed by the windows (perfect for reading and daydreaming). The cottage is located on a large property next to a 150-year-old, cape-style farmhouse surrounded by vegetable and flower gardens. Organic vegetables, eggs and honey are all produced on the property and can be purchased when available. Situated in Pond Village in North Truro, bay beaches are just a ten minute walk down historic Pond Road. A two minute walk brings you to the village general store and two cafes, one serving artisanal chocolates made on premises. Ocean beaches are only a ten minute bike ride away. A TV, DVD player, iPod dock and WiFi allow you to connect to the modern world. There is also a basement with a washer/dryer and on-site parking. Summer visits are full of breezes, and winter stays are warmed by a state-of-the art heating system installed in 2013. This is an ideal getaway at any season for two or three people.

My wife and I are both artists, teachers, and live on the property year round. Our son, who is 7, enjoys nature and raises butterflies in the summer, tends to the chickens, and loves to run and swim. We have spent years renovating and decorating the house and cottage which are both filled with beautiful artwork and good books. We spend a lot of our time cultivating vegetables and flowers, and raise chickens and bees. We eat the food we produce all year and enjoy selling produce to renters and neighbors when available. purchased this cottage in 2000

Why chose North Truro

We loved the property the first minute we saw it and live in the cottage ourselves all summer and in the main house in winter. We were especially attracted to the rural feel of pond village and being surrounded by abundant nature, animal and bird life and the local culture of artists, tradesman and fisherman.

Meet your favorite Auntie you never knew

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is amazing. It's brilliantly convenient and we'll stocked. Bring food, but otherwise, everything you need is already there.

Janice is absolutely wonderful. If you have a question, need, etc she is there to help. Thank you so much!!!

This visit meant so much in a deeply profound way... we may make this a special kind of memorial and return often.

Gorgeous - the family has chickens and bees, what could be bad?!

  • 5 of 5

We had to drive through a terrible nor'easter to get there but it was totally worth it. The property is amazing, great location along the northern part of Cape Cod. The hosts were so friendly and fun to talk to, offering a great deal of warm food and even a bed in their own house for fear the cottage's power might go out in the storm. Despite all that, the cottage held out great, the power never did more than flicker that day, and we stayed warm and cozy the rest of our time there. In reality, we felt like royalty staying in a luxurious suite, for the cottage was absolutely beautiful - multi storied, high ceilinged, nice large bed, a great bathroom and kitchen, and a very comfy couch. Bookshelves were scattered throughout the place filled with wonderful books, some old and historic, others modern and interesting. I particularly enjoyed the aesthetic appeal those books provided in the cottage. Their Apple Tv has cable, Netflix and Hulu options plus more. I was sad to leave! I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to enhance their stay at Cape Cod.

Great to be back!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at the cottage. Just as our last visit, everything was perfect. The cottage is not too far from Provincetown, and has many restaurants and shops a short distance away. Can't wait to come back again.

Idyllic Retreat Close to Provincetown

  • 4 of 5

The hosts at this cottage are more than cordial, making themselves available for any questions that may come up. My daughter and I spent two nights here before winter kicks in, and I think we timed it just right. The weather gods allowed us wonderful morning walks at the local North Truro Beaches. The first night we made it to Provincetown to catch the sunset for some spectacular photos. It is just a short drive, perhaps 15 minutes. We particularly appreciated the panoramic views from Magic Mountain, a short ride from this cottage.

The convenience of having a kitchen equipped thoughtfully for easy meal prep was a big plus for us over staying in a small hotel room in Provincetown. Everything in tip-top shape here!

If I were not so old and did not live so very far away I would be booking my next visit.

The cottage is located on the property of a 150 year old Cape farmhouse in Pond Village and surrounded by the Cape Cod National Seashore. There are many town and National Seashore beaches to choose from. Bike and hiking trails are nearby as well as freshwater ponds for swimming, golf course, and a winery just up the road. Provincetown is ten minutes away and has great restaurants, art galleries and museums, as well as some of the best whale watching trips on the east coast.
