Welcome to our ocean paradise at the Kahana Outrigger. We take great pride in our island home and want to ensure you have everything you need for a very enjoyable and comfortable holiday. Our best advertising is the feedback from our guests - please do check out our "Traveler Reviews" on this site.
We continue to upgrade our unit each year during our stays. Improvements on our last trip included a new dishwasher, microwave, stove (with two oven compartments), Trump king mattress for the master suite, new toilets, and all new window coverings (blinds). Other recent improvements include a new WIFI Internet connection, all new air conditioners in the bedrooms, a new ceiling fan in the living roon, four new flat screen TV's, a blu-ray DVD player, new washer and dryer, new furniture in the living room, dining room, and all three bedrooms, new lanai furniture and a new Sealy king mattress for the second master bedroom. We also added new bedspreads on all the beds, new small appliances (coffee maker, blender, kettle), new dishes, new cutlery and knives, a new high chair, boogie boards, and new sand toys (including a great dump truck!).
We just finished a thorough fall cleaning and maintenance of the unit including bleaching all the kitchen drawers and cupboards, washing all the dishes, cleaning under all the beds, washing all the baseboards, and more. Stay tuned as we continue to maintain and upgrade our unit.
We have also created our own little guide to Maui that we provide to all our guests that provides information on everyday questions such as where to buy groceries, locations of great nearby beaches and boogie board spots, good local restuarants, etc.
Here is a list of our favorite things about the condo:
1. The condo is right on the ocean with stunning, unobstructed views of the ocean and the neighbouring islands of Lanai and Molokai.
2. We are on the ground level with easy access to the beach and the pool. We are only a seashell's throw from the water.
3. The condo is over 1,450 sq. ft. - big enough to give everyone their own space.
4. There are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms - great for multiple families, extended families, and friend get-aways.
5. There is a tub, washer/dryer, a high chair, a Pack 'n Play, a stroller and sand toys in the unit, handy for families with young kids.
6. In addition to the very private beach at your door step, you have your pick of some of the best beaches on Maui. Kahana Beach is just one block from our front door and offers great swimming for the entire family. Napili Bay Beach is just a few minutes north and has some of the best snorkeling conditions on the west side. Just beyond Napili is the famous Kapalua Bay Beach which has been rated the #1 Beach in American twice! Also minutes away are Flemings Beach, great for surfing and boogie boarding, and Honolua Bay, a natural marine life sanctuary.
7. Our Maui home is part of a low-rise, low density condo development with 4 buildings each containing 4 units (5 steps up). We are situated on a quiet street and are only minutes away from all the best island attractions, shopping, restaurants, and world class beaches!
8. It is not uncommon to wake up to morning rainbows over the water, witness visiting humpback whales breaching through the water (in season), or spot resident sea turtles lazily floating out in front of our grassy knoll all from the comfort of our lanai.

As our family grew, we found Hawaii to be the perfect place to go - all the amenities of home (and then some), in the backdrop of one of the most beautiful tropical islands in the world. We just couldn't get enough of Maui and the ocean.
What makes this Condo unique

Awesome view and location but.......
This was our 4th time to Maui and we were looking forward to staying in Kahana as we had already stayed in Lahaina, Kihei, and Ka'anapali. We were pleased to see the fully stocked kitchen with dishes/supplies. The washer/dryer definitely came in handy also. The view was unbelievable and we even saw some whales while sitting on the lanai. It was nice having several places to walk to for food, however, be aware there are no sidewalks. The beach in front of the condo was small, but nice. Here's the but......After reading the reviews before booking this condo we expected some of the things we saw (updates needed, loose tile in the kitchen, getting locked out on the lanai, and no dial markings on the oven). Unfortunately we were not prepared to walk in the first day and see countless tiny bugs all over the kitchen counter, dishwasher, and one of the bathroom sinks. We also weren't expecting to see several very large (3in.) and a few smaller cockroaches, as we had never see any during our previous 3 stays in Maui. We contacted the owner regarding the cockroaches and was told it's part of the tropics and that there wasn't anything that could be done other than keeping the doors shut and making sure no food was left out. It was mentioned that the condo is sprayed often for bugs but previous occupants may have been a contributing factor. Needless to say we weren't thrilled about waking up each morning in anticipation of finding another cockroach. Kind of put a damper on the Maui vibe. In the master bedroom, the doors are in need of some realignment, there was very limited drawer space but plenty of closet space, and the water pressure in the shower goes up/down constantly. As for the set up of the condos themselves, be aware that you can hear EVERYTHING. We heard the people upstairs moving chairs around, neighbors talking, other people's music, screaming kids at the pool, and even some traffic. Overall we had a great time in Maui and it won't be our last visit (maybe just to Kahana)!
This place was great for us.
The location, just north of Kaanapali, is perfect. We are far enough out not to be to crowded, close enough for all of the activities (Lahaina Luau, Kaanapali beach, turtles at Napili beach, snorkeling at Kapalua beach) all within a few minutes drive.
The condo itself was clean when we arrived and well appointed. We found water toys on the deck, a well supplied kitchen, plenty of towels, everything we were expecting.
All of the logistics worked well. The combination lock on the door meant no worries about getting a key. The parking spot while a bit small for a large SUV is convenient.
The highlight is the view from the Lanai. Every morning with a cup of coffee we watched whales in the distance. A small beach is right down the stairs. The condo is away from the street noise in a small slice of heaven. On the one day the wind was blowing we saw kite surfers and sail surfers, very impressive.
We will definitely be considering this property for our next trip out (just a note, one week is not nearly enough).
Perfect location, great for families
The location could not be better. It's on the water, you can't get better than the location. It is also the only condo that has afternoon shade (except maybe the one above it). The little beach out front is perfect for families with children. It's essentially private to the condo and doesn't get a lot of foot traffic because you can't walk to any of the other beaches from it. The condo itself is super spacious and they have all the hardware needed for cooking. The stove has zero labeling so the first few days it was hard to figure out. We also think a couple of the burners only worked on high heat so we had to manually switch them on and off to not burn the food. There is no salt, no pepper, no condiments etc so be prepared to buy them when you get your food. It was super quiet at night which again was great for families, and it's not too far to drive to the Ka'annapali or Lahaina nightlife, but not within walking distance. Randy was great about responding to our inquiries. If we ever make it back to that part of the island, we would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet great beach vacation location for their family.
Fabulous location with stunning views.
The property is situated in a perfect location away from the more touristy areas of Kapalua and Kaanapali, but still within easy reach of all the west coast beaches and towns. The property's lanai has wonderful views across the sea to the island of Molokai and we were able to watch the whales as they regularly passed between the property and the island. The property shares an excellent swimming pool and barbecue facility, and you only have to walk a few yards to the beach which is directly in front of the condo. We had a turtle turn up on the beach on two occasions. The property itself is large with 3 generously-sized bedrooms each with it's own bathroom. It was very clean and well-equiped but perhaps in need of a little updating in certain areas.

Beautiful location but there were some issues
First, the location of this condo is great. Right on the water with a little usable beach out front. The pool is right there and is very inviting on days when the beach isn't calling your name. The BBQ's are next to the pool and are very clean and in good working order. The condo itself is dated but is clean. We appreciated the boggie boards, beach towels and snorkel equipment. There are some maintenance issues with the condo that need to be addressed:loose tiles throughout the condo, light in the master bathroom burnt out (a fluorescent light that we didn't find replacements for inside the condo), the pipes groan if you have water on in two areas and the stove, while clean has had the dial settings rubbed off and the group of 5 of us spent the whole week trying to find the right setting to cook with on the stove top. None of these things would stop me from recommending the condo but those choosing to stay there should know about these issues. We also had some more immediate issues while we were there (water leaking through the ceiling one morning and the exterminators leaving a note on the door saying that they would be spraying the next day some time after 9 am and that would we have to be gone from the condo for that entire time). I sent an email to the owner regarding these issues. I never got a response. However the water leak did get fixed and the exterminator did come at a time that we were already planning on being gone. Ultimately neither of these issues ended up being inconvenient for us but the lack of communication from the owner was a bit frustrating.
So overall we enjoyed our stay. The location of the condo is wonderful and it was clean. However there were some issues with our stay that make me give it less than four stars. This program won't let me give ratings in half star increments, however if given the option I would give it a 3.5.
