Sigh. While this place has a wonderful location, it's not a very pleasant place to stay. The overhead lights don't work so the kitchen was almost too dark to cook in. There's no where to sit except two rickety chairs and an ancient square of deflated foam with a threadbare red thing over it.
There are no closets or shelves or dressers to store anything-- we had to just leave all our clothes and things on the floor, and with four people in a small space for a week, things were not good. There are closets-- but they are 100% filled to the brim with dozens and dozens of ancient sheets, towels, etc. Like enough for the entire block. None of them fit well on the equally terrible "beds" which were foam. These towels and sheets and all other items in the flat were clearly purchased at a rummage sale in 1982.
The place wasn't filthy, but it was just so old and gross that no amount of cleaning would fix it. Holes in the tile kind of things. The bathroom looked like someone might have wiped it down, but also leftover detritus from past guests (rusty nail clippers?). Someone kinda cleaned, but not very well.
For under $1000 it could be very nice but there has been ZERO effort made towards comfort or aesthetics. There's a poster on the wall held up with duct tape. Yikes.
Yes, it's small, but most places in Paris are small and I can deal with that if the entire floor isn't taken up by heaps of clothes and suitcases because there are NO FREAKING SHELVES OR DRAWERS.
