You really feel like you are in the middle of nowhere at this bach. Mt Taranaki on the horizon; forested hills all around; pigs, goats, kiwi, pheasants and escaped sheep all around you. We only saw two lots of people during our stay: a very surprised (to see us) meter reader and some beekeepers. There are all sorts of walks you can take - including strolls along the gravel roads, taking in the spectacular views through to full on scrabbles through the bush out the back (very fun - but not for the faint hearted, you will get muddy). But Waverley - with its supermarket - and Waverley beach - with its awesome beaches - are actually only just over 30 minutes away. It was even great to sit out a storm there - the two fires make it toasty after a couple of hours. Other than that: the house is a basic bach, don’t expect luxury (but it has everything you need); and you probably need a four wheel drive to get up the drive to the house, if it is even slightly wet (and a tip - turn left at the top and drive around the back of the house back to the top of the drive, don’t try to drive right up the steeper ramp - your wheels will spin :-)). Recommended.
