This is the first of our 「Alchemy」 series: where history is not erased, but transformed.
This private townhouse fuses preserved architectural details with bold modern design. Original timber beams, handwritten marks from 80 years ago, and a repurposed milk box key station hint at its past, while a suspended hammock, garden-view bath, and layered lighting reframe it for the present.
「Alchemy」 is for travelers who seek more than comfort: a sense of story and inspiration.
—— THE SPACE ——
Inside, you’ll find a harmony of textures: soft tatami flooring, cool steel countertops, and handmade lighting that reflects both tradition and innovation. A hammock is suspended in the tatami room for slow, weightless moments. The bathroom opens to a private garden view, where natural light and shadow shift quietly through the day.
For quiet mornings or restful evenings, we offer a pour-over coffee set and botanical bath salts—simple rituals to help you slow down and savor the stay.
—— Area ——
The area is well connected: Tamade Station (Yotsubashi Line) is just 150 m away.
From there:
• Namba : 4 stops, 9 minutes
• Shinsaibashi : 5 stops, 11 minutes
• Umeda / Osaka Station (Shinkansen) : 8 stops, 17 minutes
Tamade is an old-school neighborhood where local shops, family-run eateries, and retro storefronts line the streets. It’s not a tourist zone—but that’s exactly the appeal. Guests can experience Osaka at a slower pace, where morning markets still open early, and neighbors greet each other in dialect.
Late-night convenience stores, supermarkets, and affordable local food are just around the corner.
—— Other Things to Note ——
Bedding:
The townhouse can accommodate 4-6 guests (including children) comfortably. Bedding will be provided depending on the number of guests.
Smoking:
The property is non-smoking. As this is a wooden building, any form of open flame—including e-cigarettes—is strictly prohibited. Smoking at the entrance or on nearby streets is also prohibited as it violates Osaka City Law.
Smoking may incur an additional night’s fee as compensation for the next guest.
Care notice for Interior Items:
This townhouse is furnished with custom-made pieces by local artisans. Many of these items are expensive and require long lead times to replace. We kindly ask you to take great care of the interior during your stay, especially if you are staying with children.
In case of any damage, we will charge repair or replacement costs accordingly.
Neighborly Consideration:
This property is located on a quiet, residential Japanese street. After 10:00 p.m., we kindly ask you avoid disturbing neighbors—for example, by using the washing machine late at night, running or speaking loudly. We sincerely appreciate your understanding.
Limited Soundproof:
As this is a renovated traditional house, sound insulation is limited. Thank you for your understanding. If you’d like, we can provide disposable earplugs—just let us know in advance.
Mind the Beam:
Due to the original structure of this townhouse, some beams above the staircase are really low. We’ve placed clear signage, but please mind your head and take care as you go up and down.
It’s Imperfect:
This is an 80-year-old townhouse. While we’ve renovated completely, it doesn’t have the flawless finish of a hotel. But it’s precisely these small imperfections that allow the passage of time to linger—giving the space its unique and quiet charm.
