Perfect condo for a ski trip
This is a fantastic home base for a couple or family of three spending time in the Tahoe City area. The lodge has a historic feel, and it's a short 15-minute drive to ski at Palisades & Alpine Meadows. The condo is very nicely furnished, with a well-stocked kitchen. Some online photos made it look like there was a twin or full size fold away bed in the living room. That bed now seems to be permanently down, and really serves as a large couch. Even for our 13 year old it was too short for sleeping. He had to sleep diagonally. Another thing to note is that the condo is on the third floor, and is only accessible by stairs, so loading luggage, groceries, and ski gear takes some effort. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very nice mountain condo.

Loved being close to the lake and to palisades. Easy drive up or you can take the bus from the transit center. Hot tub and sauna were perfect for post skiing relaxation!

Perfect Trip
We really enjoyed our stay! The rooms were spotless and very well taken care of. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals. Beds were comfy. Granlibakken is in such a great location to explore the Tahoe area and these privately owned units were noticeably nicer than the hotel-managed ones we’ve rented in the past. Would definitely stay here again

Great visit
This condo was exactly as advertised/shown in the pictures. No surprises, no issues at all during our stay. And, I know this is such a little thing, but I appreciated that all of the dresser drawers were completely empty--I hate when the owner leaves miscellaneous items throughout their property.

Honeymoon stay
Overall, our stay here was great! Everything was very clean and well maintained. The location is a little further from the main strip in Tahoe City to walk to downtown, but it only took about 25 minutes/1.5 miles and there was a trail you could take which was really convenient. We did know this ahead of time when we booked, and so if you are a walker this spot would work for you! Otherwise, plan to drive into town. Check in was very easy at the front desk and any questions the front desk of Granlibakken was there to help us. We had to leave quite early in the morning and the check out process was very easy/required little clean up on our part as it was more like a hotel check out than a traditional VRBO where several check out items are required of the guests. The location is close to several trails/short drive from Emerald Bay and other Tahoe summer hot spots! The wifi was slow, but did eventually get us to where we needed. This only impacted our phones- the TV/Netflix worked at high speed all the time which was nice. This VRBO had several more rules than I normally see for VRBO listings- including the amount of nespresso pods you can use until they charge you for more. We decided to just buy our own since the ones provided were all decaf. Not a huge to-do but something to note when you do your grocery shopping. The pool/hot tub/sauna were a nice on site perk that we definitely took advantage of. Overall, this was a nice getaway spot! Would recommend!

Clean and comfortable
I attend a conference at Granlibakken every other year. I’m so glad that I found this place on VRBO! It is nicer than the places I’ve randomly been assigned in past years. The only issue I had was at check in, but that was an issue with the Granlibakken staff member I was dealing with. I definitely recommend this place for whatever brings you to Granlibakken and Tahoe.

Good stay, fits description
Overall very good experience. Place is as described, pretty large. Didn’t have any heating issues. Fire place is great! The entire area is nice, hot tube very convenient. Only thing missing was probably some basic olive oil salt and spices which would have make it easier for people who like to cook.

Ok at best for the price, stay elsewhere for the money
As someone that grew up in the area and went to Granlibakken when I was in HS, I had high hopes for this property. However, once on the property and in the accommodations, it was obvious that not much has been updated. The rooms were clean, but freezing, lots of air in the waterlines indicating that the rooms had not been used in quite some time. While some of the room amentities were nice, internet/wifi access, large LCD screens with streaming services already available, that was about the extent of it. The particular rooms we stayed in had one main room with a "livingroom" area that had a Murphy bed as the only bed, not something clearly called out in the VRBO listing. This was then a shared space with the other room (master) that was in the same small entry way but required separate access. The "master" was nothing more than your average hotel room with a bed, mini-fridge, bathroom and other furniture shoe-horned into a small living quarter. I really wish I could say that I liked this place but for the same price I would have very easily received a standard hotel (even cheaper really) and had less issues. Issue 1: Rooms hadn't been used in who knows how long and with outside temps hitting the 20s at night, when we got there (local time of 10pm), the rooms were set at 55degrees for "energy savings." It took until 5am for the rooms to warm up to a comfortable 68degrees. The next morning the heater for the master then shutdown and would not come back on and had to have maintenance perform a reset. Issue 2: Door locks did not work when we got there, There RFID cards did not allow us to get into the main entry way let alone the rooms, the hallway was a balmy 45degrees and luckily the receptionist had not left (again we checked in at 10pm) because he had to bring the laptop for the door locks up to perform a firmware update to the locks. After that the locks worked until the next morning. Then again that evening the "shutoff" and we could not access the rooms when we returned in the evening, once again locking us in the freezing hallway until someone could come and let us in. However, this time it was almost 30 minutes before the receptionist and maintenance person showed up. They fixed the locks, having to do the same process again but never fully telling us what the root cause was. As much as I love Lake Tahoe, I CANNOT recommend this property until some serious upgrades are made to it as a whole. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

Fox and Gabrielle Fiorentino hale from both Los Gatos and Carmel California and are well seasoned travelers. They have, themselves been in many "homes away from home" and know what a travelers desires . They stepped up and answered the call in this nicely appointed respite.

They have vacation homes for rent in Carmel, Los Gatos, Lake Tahoe and Aptos California

Why they chose this property

Being on the 3rd floor, this condominium offers wide open space with a beautiful mountain flavor and beamed ceilings.

What makes this property unique

Having a perfect location 1 mile to Tahoe City, 1/8th mile to the Lake beaches is one of the reasons we love it here. On property swimming pool, adventure bridges, tennis courts, resturant and spa. The condo has everything anyone could want.

The property sits only 1/2 mile to the Truckee River. Enjoying river rafting during the summer months.

Nearby fishing and of course in the winter fabulous skiing at Homewood, Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley and Northstar as the closest locations.

Fine resturant on lake pier dinning during the summers.
