Great place to unwind and break away from the screens and technology. We fished, walked the trails, did some star gazing, worked puzzles, played cards and listened to vinyl records (provided by owner!). This was our 2nd visit to this farmhouse

A great home to enjoy some peace and quiet. We loved the pond for swimming and canoeing, the garden and walking trails. The home has everything you need for a great stay.

Wonderful weekend getaway! Communication and check in were easy, owner provided lots of information up front which made the process smooth. Nice house and fully stocked with about everything you would need for a relaxing time. Beautiful property and well maintained, inside and out. The goal was relaxation and fishing, both were a success! Will hopefully come back again someday!

Very nice house , clean and everything you need is there. Quiet, nothing around, so if you looking for a really quality time with your friends and family this is the place . Nice private lake surrounded by woods and amazing views. Highly recommended!!

Wedding Vacation

We went there for a wedding but ended up having an amazing vacation getaway. The place was quiet and serene. We love being outdoors and this was the perfect place to scratch our fishing and outdoor itch! Cute and quant farmhouse to spend our evenings in as well.

Loved it and so did the family!

Amazing house and property. The kids loved the pond for swimming (water was nice and warm too even in the middle) and fishing. Bonfires at night were great and morning coffee with a view while preparing breakfast. Owners spared no expense with this vacation home. Thank you so much for everything we'll for sure be back and next time for a longer stay.

My friends and I went away for a girls weekend. The house is so cute and very well stocked! The owner is friendly, helpful, and easy to reach. There are things to do within a short drive, but the house and grounds have all you need for a relaxing weekend as well! We will be back!

We absolutely love this farmhouse getaway. The property is beautiful and full of wildlife. The lake is quiet and serene. The farmhouse is stacked with anything you need but just the perfect, quiet place to get away, fish and enjoy quality time with loved ones. Second time here and it was awesome again.

Amazing slice of private heaven in southern Illinois

This is our second time staying here with our large family. The lake, peaceful fields and grounds, extremely well-appointed kitchen and responsive host always make it a wonderful stay. We cook, relax, fish, canoe, light the fire and slowly unwind into the vacation. And if you need anything substantial, or just want to get a meal at a restaurant, there are a number of towns less than 25 mins away in all directions. Highly rexommmended.

Nice and secluded

We were looking for a place to get away from it all and we found it. The house was clean and well stocked. The property was beautiful and secluded. We spent most days outside fishing and canoeing around the private lake areas. Caught a lot of good sized fish. Lots of wildlife around including deer and foxes. Owner was responsive and ensured we had a wonderful experience.

Relaxing weekend

We rented the farmhouse for the weekend. From the minute we walked in the door, everything was perfect. The house is so clean, cute and comfortable. We enjoyed listening to the amazing collection of albums. Beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the fire pit every night and had lots of firewood. They even had it stacked so all you had to do is light it. Fishing was great and our son caught a HUGE bass. This place is an absolute gem! It's hands down the best VRBO rental we've ever had.

Great place to truly get away!

The pictures truly don't do this farmhouse and property justice. Our family of four had the pleasure to stay at the Huffman farmhouse July 4th weekend and we loved our stay. From the fully renovated and updated farmhouse, the private lake, the quiet of a rural community, we reconnected with our adult kids. We fished, had a bonfire each night, played card games and my favorite part....played records! We loved not having a TV as it was time to spend as a family. We hope to come back in the fall!

Beautifully Renovated Farmhouse with a Private Lake

My wife and I had a great weekend getaway at Michael's family farmhouse. It's been wonderfully renovated with modern appliances and lots of other nice touches. It has been thoughtfully outfitted with everything you need for your stay, especially if you plan to cook for yourself. The location is quiet and relaxing, nestled between neighboring farms. But the most amazing part of the property is the private lake. The water is clear and is like bathwater -- and it's all yours during your stay. The owner, Michael, was helpful and communicative without being intrusive. We had a great time, and we will definitely be wanting to stay here again.

Core Memories Made

This is year #two at the farmhouse for us and yet again, another trip we will cherish. This property lets you escape the world that is today and focus on things that are important - like friendships and conversation. There is room to roam; openness to be loud; sunrises and sunsets to cherish. Michael is prompt and responsive to anything you might need. We know we will be back for year 3, 4, etc. and you should too.

Perfect Little Getaway House

My first impression was how clean the house was. For a farmhouse by a private pond I was surprised not to see more bugs or things to be a little run down. The house was in beautiful condition. The property owner basically let you use anything that was in the house and it was actually stocked with food and dry goods. Saved us some money on shopping. The garage has everything you need for your trip including games, charcoal, lighters, etc. My kids spent the entire weekend fishing in the pond and we probably caught about 50 fish. They had the best time. My wife is already talking about how she misses the house and wants to go back. Highly recommended The Broche’s.

A home away from home with a step back in time.

I cannot express enough how much I loved this Farm and property. My family and I spent thanksgiving weekend here and it was perfect!! lots of room for us to sleep, play and explore. I could have stayed here forever. Thanks again Ann and Michael for making this place so special.

Wonderful Property!

Great property that really lived up to its description. To reiterate so many, this is the perfect property to unwind and spread your wings. Peaceful, quiet, and clean, this is the perfect spot for a group of friends or family wanting to escape the city. I will say, the house is well stocked with some of those one off items (charcoal, paper towels, etc.). So maybe take a bit of inventory before heading off to the store. That said, this was the perfect spot for our group of friends to gather for the weekend and we will certainly be back!

Nervous to share this gem with others

Almost didn't write a review because this place is so good we want to keep it a secret! This was our first getaway since COVID and it did not disappoint. If you wanted to never leave the house you could because there is so much to do. Trails, fishing, canoe, swimming, sitting by the fire. We even whipped up some hummingbird nectar for the feeders while there so we could enjoy watching them from the table during breakfast. It was so peaceful. The home was well equipped with everything you could possibly need even a vegetable garden! Truly felt welcomed as if it were our home for the week. We love it and will definitely be returning.

Pleasant relaxation in nature’s finest!

This property provides a very inviting home including the exceptional outdoor atmosphere! The awesome fishing pond and canoeing are extraordinary!
