Secluded Getaway in Private Neighborhood

Three Night Special. Book for three consecutive nights and save $60. The Special is quite popular and I fill up quickly so please make your plans early.

I know that vacations can be stressful, and sometimes you just want to take a break between all the exciting options Alaska offers. This is the most frequent comment I get from my guests, that they appreciate the privacy and tranquility staying in my place offers. It is moments from all the action, (15 minutes to the park) and yet exclusive. I only have this one rental on my 5 acres.

We have had a lot of fun. David and I put so much love and work into this place that I have enjoyed sharing it. The artwork (and there is a lot) - is part of my private collection, things I have bought over the 30+ years I have been in Alaska.

Please look at the calendar before contacting me. I only have the one rental and if any of the available dates can work for you, do let me know!

Denali Park Place is a 900sf rental over our art studio/garage.

Placed at the back of our 5 acre parcel of land, the setting is quite peaceful and private – although the sound of sled dogs howling isn't unusual. Caribou, moose, snow shoe hare, and perhaps even a grizzly bear might be sighted from the array of windows. Denali National Park is only 15 minutes away.

The view out of any of the windows frames beautiful mountains, and the granite breakfast bar is a perfect place to write postcards while enjoying the scenery. There is plenty of room to lounge in the large living room with two couches offering wonderful views and lots of natural light.

Just a few minutes away (literally), Denali National Park offers visitors a variety of tours. The Visitors Center and the Murie Science and Learning Center are a couple of my favorite local places to go. The displays are great, as are the free movies and lectures, and I especially like sitting in the big chairs in front of the 'wood' stove and reading. This is the kind of activity you miss if your visit is rushed - and yet will be most memorable if you take the time to do it!

In addition to the park and visitors center, there are excellent restaurants, tours, and gift shops located near by.

Should you want to spend some time lounging at home, there's a stereo system and a DVD player with 52' television.

You will need your own transportation to visit the area.

About The Owner

RAVEN ABOUT ALASKA (my business name, because it is what I do!)

David and I met in 1983 while commercial fishing on Kodiak Island. We bought our first fishing operation a couple years later and found remote property in 1989. While Kodiak's Uganik Bay is still home, after commercially fishing for 24 years I decided to try something else. One of my current jobs is as a tour guide in Denali National Park. David is still fishing for salmon and halibut on Kodiak Island so we commute between two of the most beautiful places in the world. I am in love with Alaska, heart and soul. The artwork and books in my house and the Denali Park Place are part of my personal collection of favorites. If you like history just ask me about the Alaskan flag in the hall - came from the person who designed it... or the autographed book by the very first person to lead a successful climb up Mount McKinley in 1914! Sometimes I think the only reason I want to provide a vacation rental is to show off this place I love so dearly... Alaska.

The Owner purchased this house in 2004

Why The Owner chose Denali

In 1997 we went on a vacation that changed our lives. Living in Kodiak, we thought it would be a cool winter vacation to go to Nome to see the finish of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. I became obsessed. Poor David! First I worked as a volunteer with the Iditarod, then I got a job training racing huskies, and then I wanted land near the huskies I trained. In 2002 I did the 1049 mile race across Alaska, finishing the Iditarod in 14 days with a wonderful team of dogs. My book, 'Running with Champions: A Midlife Journey on the Iditarod Trail', has been very successful and once again changed my life's direction (and David's!). We bought land in the interior of Alaska and now call both Kodiak and Denali home.

What makes this house unique

If you would like total privacy after your day in the park - or a recovery period during a demanding vacation - this Getaway will delight you.

The community of Denali borders Denali National Park and Preserve. Minutes away from this secluded property are all the amenities of Denali National Park - tours, restaurants, hiking, shopping, wildlife viewing. There is something for everybody. My dogs were from a winning Iditarod team, so if you are interested in getting to know some retired champions, they will be more than willing to accommodate you! This really is a pleasant place. Become a neighbor and see for yourself...

I also supply some of my Heirloom Sourdough Starter so you can make yourself some delicious hotcakes from real Alaskan sourdough! It's easy - you'll love it! I consider myself a sourdough genealogist (!) because I am tracking the history and writing a book on this particular heirloom sourdough. Read about it on one of my sites - the history is fantastic and the taste is even better!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I named my business Raven About Alaska because it is what I always seem to be doing, and this summer has been great so far! Everyone loves the place and I already have a list of new friends to visit when I go south next winter. Very fun and I love that since most people are staying three days I get to visit alittle!

Great apartment. Close to Denali National Park.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this lovely apartment for three nights. It is beautiful, bright, with gorgeous views from every window. When you climb the stairs to the apartment, you are greeted with an open design for the kitchen with dining peninsula and living room. At one end of the living room is a lovely work area where one can write while gazing out the window. The kitchen is fully appointed if you are planning to prepare any meals. There is one bedroom with lamps on both sides of the bed. There is one full bath with great lighting. In a separate room (by the bathroom) is a washer and dryer. Beautiful artwork throughout the apartment. Lisa, the owner, left a big bag of blueberries in the freezer and encouraged us to eat them. We did! I'd encourage you to bring your own water for drinking. As Lisa said in her welcome note, the water has a high mineral content. The apartment has Wi-Fi. The password for the network is on a little slip of paper hanging on the refrigerator. Just one addition to the directions to the house/apartment: Follow the directions Lisa sent until you turn onto Revine Creek Trail Road. Once you are on Revine Creek Road, the entrance to the property is the third driveway on your left. (You'll see a sign for Falcon Road on your right as you go down Revine Creek. Turn left into the second driveway past Falcon. You'll see the sign for the property: Denali Park Place). The apartment is less than 10 miles from the entrance to Denali National Park - very convenient. We really enjoyed staying here. If (when!) we return to Denali, we would stay here in a heartbeat!

Very clean, warm, inviting, comfortable apartment in beautiful setting close to Denali entrance.

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is in a great location for exploring Denali National Park. It's very clean and well stocked. There are many interesting books to read about Alaska. We would've liked to have met her ourselves as she has lived such an interesting life.

Beautiful and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four stayed in this wonderful private guest house and loved it. The house was secluded, super clean and had tree top mountin views from every window. One of our most enjoyable places to stay and decompress! Highly recommend staying here if you are headed to Denali or surrounding area and need a place to relax. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Quaint apartment close to Denali National Park

  • 5 of 5

We rented property for 3 days. Loved being in the rural woods rather than commercialized hotel area. We liked having the kitchen and full size refrigerator so we were not eating every meal at a restaurant. (Tip: buy groceries in Anchorage or Fairbanks as they will be cheaper than Denali/Healy area). Also, it was very helpful to have full size washer/dryer. Wifi provided is excellent speed. Blinds provided plenty of shade for the dark less Alaskan nights. The owner is very responsive to emails. Unfortunately, we did not get to meet Lisa or her dogs. I only wish we could have stayed longer. I would definitely recommend this property.

One of our favorite places to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This spot truly feels like home to us. We stayed here 5 years ago with Lisa and fell in love with her and her pups and coming back again was like coming back home. Lisa is a fantastic host and we love visiting with her! Vincent is one of our favorites of the property...her amazing racing dog. Her place is clean and well cared for with amazing views! We'll definitely be back to visit Lisa again!!!
