Quite, charming, and convenient
This home is on a very quiet side street in a quiet part of the city, yet less than a 10 minute walk takes you to the streetcar, and a 5 minute ride takes you to Bismarckplatz, the central plaza on the edge of the Old City. Nearby are several very good restaurants, an organic market, and a bakery. The neighborhood is so safe that we were encouraged not to bother locking the doors when we left.
Your hostess lives right across the street. She is gracious and gentle and available to answer questions about the apartment, yet respectful of your privacy.
This is not just another apartment that someone bought and threw together for a rental. The space still has the at home feel of the family that raised its children here, full of books ranging from young children's learning books to German poetry to popular fiction, and also the art of (one of?) the children, with clearly improved technique over time. The kitchen is full of more utensils, plates, mugs, and glasses than you will need, so don't hesitate to plan on cooking dinner for friends here, like we did.
The one shower in the larger downstairs bathroom has everything an American is looking for, and the tiny bathroom upstairs is adequate. The downstairs also has a huge bathtub, which we didn't ever take advantage of, but it was quite inviting.
If you are looking for modern new construction, this is not the place for you. The floors and doors have their creaks. Also, the outdoor seating area of the restaurant next door leaves you feeling that you're part of the crowd. It can be a nice way to feel that you are part of the life of the city while having your own space, but you will be glad that it closes down about 10pm.
I would return to this place in a heartbeat for a long stay with friends.
Great place. Great location. Wonderful and helpful caretaker.
Great place. Ideal location by walking or tram. Enjoyed our stay and Philippa was a wonderful host. Nice to have 2 toilets with a family of 5. We made meals in the kitchen and enjoyed the bier garden next door. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you!!! :)
It was such a pleasure to have all of you here!
You are wonderful guests
and I'm so happy that you fully enjoyed your stay.
Hope to see you again!
Nette Vermieterin. Wohnung nur ein bisschen dunkel.
Glove home offers many nice restaurants and many shops in a few minutes and in abundance! 300m up the road it goes into the woods, to the Holy Mountain, with its medieval monastery ruins, the observation tower on Thingstätte wonderful and well-marked hiking trails. In 20 minutes walk from the famous Philosopher who invites above the Neckar river and overlooking the Neckar and the famous Heidelberg Castle memorablen walks.
The town hall is also a 20 minute walk, otherwise in 5 minutes by car, the train station by tram, which runs every 5 minutes, 20 minutes, including walk
the hospitals in Neuenheimer Feld 2.5 km to reach Fahhrad in 10 minutes ....
Centrally located, yet very quiet (traffic calmed street)
