A bit out of town, but a 70 "Up & Go" daily car rental made this location perfect for a few days of easy come and go activities. Ample parking available.Raiatea is more of an hiking, viewing, and archeological destination v. beach and snorkel local, so a car was very handy. This bungalow was relaxing and was nestled in a well vegetative/forested area... very tranquil with the sounds of flocks of birds settling into the trees each evening, and heading out each morning.Several well behaved dogs free roam the compound, as well as a friendly cat.A group of local "vocal" chickens will also enthusiacally wake you each morning, so be advised it's best to plan the start of your days accordingly. The outdoor kitchen was well equipped, and the fridge kept our food and drinks cold... we mainly had breakfast and coffee to start our day at home, made sandwiches for our exploring day trips, and had dinner at one of the many different "food trucks" in the area.Although no AC, the natural vegetation/tree canopy and breeze provided ample shade to keep the room cool at night with the fans running w/ screened windows opened. Some tours were offered by the hosts, but we had a car and self procured a 25 water taxi (round trip) to a nearby Motu from the ferry dock for a beach and coral garden, and otherwise drove around to hike and explore. This is not a 5 star resort, rather more of a glamping experience - which was just fine and appreciated by us.
