More TLC and Upgrades Needed
The best (VRBO) rentals where we have stayed are those where the owners clearly take pride in their homes. Unfortunately, such is not currently the case with the Jungle Garden Villa--despite its being in an attractive, quiet neighborhood, just a block from Sarasota Bay.
While the property manager, Marc, was super helpful and quickly responsive to the issues that arose during our stay, a more proactive approach by the owners to maintaining and upgrading the property would likely have made our stay more enjoyable. For example: We arrived to a dirty pool with a very low water level and, even though the pool cleaner came the next day to fill and clean the pool itself, there were unsightly green (moldy?) stains on the pool deck, some of which we cleaned ourselves--a job that would have initially been easier had the hose attachment and nozzle not been broken (Marc, thankfully, rush-ordered a new hose and dropped off a new nozzle the second day of our stay.) Also, the pool spa was a nice feature, but the jets were not very strong, perhaps due to a clogged filter. Other issues:
--ripped screens & dirty windows in the enclosed room adjacent to the pool;
--stained, worn couch in the living room, which we covered with a bedsheet;
--peeling ceiling in the kitchen (another renter/reviewer mentioned it almost a year ago);
--inoperable ceiling fan in the front bedroom;
--NO sign of the Peleton bike advertised;
--clogged kitchen drain, halfway through our stay.
The rental needs some TLC!
