Overview

About the property

Lakefront Family Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2.25 Baths, (Sleeps 6+)

The 'HIDEOUT' is a perfect spot to enjoy quiet fall beauty at the lake and all that Leelanau County has to offer.

The knotty pine family cottage is on the water at the end of the Lane, tucked between the cedar forest and clear stream. No through traffic, no shared front yard; a place where you truly feel on vacation. Whether you enjoy sunrise and a cup of coffee, or sunset and and a glass of local wine you are sure to unwind in this beautiful location.

The cottage is comfortably furnished with an Up North flair featuring log furniture and numerous northwoods touches. The open living room-galley kitchen is perfect for family meals and games.

It has three bedrooms, two full baths, a popular outdoor shower, plus a large family room giving you lots of space to spread out. The 1st bedroom has a queen bed, the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms have double beds with a twin over (bunk style) beds. The den has a futon couch/bed, DVD player, bar and game table. The family room makes a nice mini-suite, or a great place for the kids to hang-out.

From the front deck we've seen turtles, otter, deer, grouse, and eagles. The small crescent beach and shallow water are perfect for play. The dock has room for your boat or make it your private fishing pier. Our area of the lake is popular with the fisherman who know the good spots.. Two kayaks and a canoe are included for a quiet morning paddle. The old-style pine picnic table and charcoal grill make outdoor meals a pleasure. Retire to the oversize hammock to read a book or take a nap. When its time to clean up head for the outdoor shower with dressing area. The perfect end to an upnorth day is around the campfire circle where stories are told and marshmallow S'mores are the traditional treat.

The 'Hideout' is located on the west side of South Lake Leelanau, just 4 miles south of the village of Lake Leelanau (Dick's Pour House) and one mile north of a boat launch. You will be 15 minutes from the excellent restaurants and shops of Leland, Glen Arbor and Suttons Bay. The Hideout is great for exploring Leelanau Wine Country and also a beautiful area for biking. It is approximately 25 miles from Sleeping Bear Dunes, and 10 minutes from the stunning Good Harbor Beach. We will have tourism information at the cottage on arrival. If you have specific planning needs please contact us in advance.

VISIT 'THE HIDEOUT' AND SEE WHY GENERATIONS of FAMILIES RETURN TO LEELANAU COUNTY EVERY YEAR!

Why Diana Aug chose Lake Leelanau

Five generations of our family have been vacationing in Leelanau County. As children moved away for careers it has always provided the place to 'disconnect' and reconnect and have fun together.

What makes this cottage unique

Since we are from the Chicago area we really appreciate the slower pace and peace and quiet. Walking out on the dock, coffee in hand, to watch the sun come up is a superb way to start the day. In the city we forget how brilliant the stars of the night sky can be and the excitement of seeing a meteor shower or if lucky, the Northern Lights. The pace of life totally changes for our whole family. We have time to enjoy each other and the simple things.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thanks for coming out to help with the dock, it worked out fine. Great Cottage !

Hideout Delivers!

  • 5 of 5

We just completed our second year at the Hideout on Lake Leelanau and again we enjoyed our stay very much. The location can't be beat, it is close to Leland, Glen Arbor, and Traverse City and every spot in between. Our sons went fly fishing in the various near by lakes, streams, and rivers. We brought our boat, and it too had great accommodations on the dock. The cottage is very clean and comfortable with comfortable beds, eating area, and an outdoor shower! We plan on going back again! Thanks Diana-Sincerely, Happy Family From Cincinnati!!

Resplendent • Relaxing • Rustic Retreat!!!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location on Lake Leelanau. The cottage was the perfect place for 8 members of my family to connect and reflect. The location provides a good staging area for those wishing to visit the local attractions, including Good Harbor beach, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Northport, Peterson State Park and the quaint downtown's of Leland and Suttons Bay. The cottage setting itself is beautiful. It is very relaxing. Coffee in the morning with the sunrise. Night time gathering by the fire pit. The inside of the cottage is well furnished with just about anything a traveler might need. We had a terrific visit and would not hesitate to do so again!!!

Great summer getaway on the lake

  • 5 of 5

Loved being right on the water and the cottage was perfect for the five of us. Fishing, wading and relaxing right off the dock and close to quite a few small towns to go and see. Great time for all ages - would highly recommend!

Owner's Response: We delighted that you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your review of the Hideout. Although 8 people is a bit of a squeeze (we think 6 is perfect) when it's family it all seems to work out.
