The Building:
Welcome to the Aurora, a charming and historic building located in the heart of Brush Park, downtown Detroit. Originally built in 1908, the Aurora is a testament to the city's rich history, featuring original hardwood floors, tiled fireplaces, ornate woodwork, and unique lead glass windows.
Recently renovated, the Aurora now consists of six units that seamlessly blend modern amenities with the building's historic character. Choose from one or multiple units depending on your travel needs. Check out all our units in our profile.

Located in a charming historic building in downtown Detroit's Brush Park neighborhood, this one bedroom apartment is the perfect home base for your next trip to the Motor City. Ideal for those visiting for sports events, concerts, shows, conferences, date night, staycation, or business, this apartment is available for short term or long term stays.

As you step into the apartment, you'll be greeted by a light filled, airy living and dining space that's perfect for relaxing or entertaining. The emerald green sleeper sofa adds a pop of color to the space and complements the matching original tile surrounding the fireplace. The mid-century modern furniture and vintage Detroit decor add character to the historic unit, while the original dark hardwood floors add warmth and charm.

Take in the city views from one of the large bay windows, curl up with a good book in the vintage armchairs, or sit down to a meal at the dining table set for four.

The large bedroom features a comfortable queen sized bed with plenty of pillows for a restful night's sleep. The bedroom also includes a mid-century modern dresser for storage and a desk and workstation for those who need to work remotely. With our mesh Wi-Fi system, you can stay connected while watching the hustle and bustle of city life down Brush St.

Whether you're brewing a cup of coffee or cooking a meal, you'll find the recently renovated kitchen stocked with all the essentials. The kitchen also features stainless steel appliances including: a full sized fridge, stove, and dishwasher to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Please note: this unit is located on the second floor and is accessed via stairs. There is no elevator access in the building. Additionally, given the historic nature of the building, guests should anticipate small step ups within the unit between the living spaces, bedroom,
kitchen, and bathroom.

Guests may also access the common areas including: front porch, stairway, and basement. The basement includes a washer and dryer available to all of the units.

Parking:
There is free street parking on Erskine St. It is public parking, so it's first come, first serve. As in any major city, we suggest locking your car and keeping any valuables hidden or in your unit. We as hosts are not responsible for any damages or theft that occurs to vehicles parked on the street. There is additional street parking on surrounding residential streets and paid parking at the SOMA Parking Garage at 81 Erskine St.

The Neighborhood:

There is so much to do and see right outside your door! The Aurora is located in a prime spot to experience everything that Detroit has to offer! Grab a coffee, cocktail, snack or other essentials at the Bodega Market just a few blocks away. Head down Erksine St. to explore all of the award winning bars, restaurants and shops that the Brush Park and Midtown neighborhoods have to offer. Walk over to Comerica Park, Ford Field, or Little Caesar’s Arena to catch a game or concert!

Listing Access:
Guests access the building through a main entrance located in the front of the building. Each unit has a private entrance with the units 1 and 2 located on the first floor, units 3 and 4 on the second floor, and units 5 and 6 on the third floor. Guests will receive a unique smart lock code prior to check in. Please note that there is no elevator in the building and guests should be prepared to use the stairs.

Guests may also access the common areas including: front porch, stairway, and basement. The basement includes a washer and dryer available to all of the units.

Bus: The nearest bus stop is the Woodward & Watson stop, which is about a 5-minute walk away. Several bus routes, including Route 53, Route 450, and Route 460, stop at this location.

QLINE: The QLINE is a streetcar system that runs along Woodward Ave. The nearest QLINE station to the Aurora is the Ferry Street Station, which is approximately a 10-minute walk away.

MoGo: MoGo is a bike-sharing program in Detroit, with several bike stations located throughout the city. The nearest MoGo station is the Forest & Woodward station, which is approximately a 5-minute walk away.

Ride-sharing services: Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are also widely available in Detroit, and can be accessed from anywhere in the city.

Check in/Check out
Check in starts at 4pm. We offer a check in window (4pm-10pm). You will be sent a unique door code prior to your arrival. Check out is at 10am. There are no exceptions unless arrangements have been made at the time of the booking and are taken on a case by case basis. Additionally, there will be an additional $100/hr fee for every hour after checkout time.

Occupancy
The guest who booked the unit must be present at check in. The total number of guests in your reservation applies to anyone staying overnight. Reservations with more guests than what was booked for will either be charged for the additional number of guests at that time, or your booking will be canceled immediately without refund.

Gatherings
While we want our guests to have a wonderful time during their stay in Detroit, we strongly enforce a “No Party” policy. Reservations that intend to have loud music, heavy drinking or excessive noise will not be allowed and will be canceled immediately without refund.

Quiet Hours
Quiet hours are from 11pm-8am. We appreciate you respecting neighboring guests. There are non-recording noise detectors within the unit that will alert the host if the set threshold is exceeded. If noise becomes an issue during your reservation, we will ask once for things to quiet down and will escalate to resolve the issue as necessary beyond that.

Smoking
Smoking of any kind, including vaping, is not allowed in the unit. There will be a minimum $250 penalty fee if it is determined that there was smoking in your unit during your stay.

Minimum Age
The minimum age of guests booking the unit is 21+ years.

Damage and Incidentals
Please treat our unit as if it were your own and leave the space as you found it. You, as the booking guest, are responsible for any incidentals, damage or missing items caused by yourself or any one of your guests accessing the listing during your stay.

Security

Apartment is beautifully furnished and cozy. Linens super comfy and amenities were helpful. It was easy to lock and unlock the doors using the digital key pad. Walking distance to Founders and lots of tasty places. I definitely recommend this place for any two people looking for a place to spend the night while exploring the city.

Born in Detroit at Hutzel hospital (just down the street from the Aurora), I live nearby with my husband and two kids. We absolutely love hanging out downtown. Some of our favorite things to do are: shopping at Eastern Market, visiting one of the nearby museums like the Detroit Institute of Arts, ice skating at Campus Martius, bumper cars at the Midway, cheering on the Tigers at Comerica Park, and enjoying restaurants and bars in the city.
