The Laurance Family home has been at the corner of Granite and Laurel streets for more than 80 years now. Standing tall, this delightful Victorian is centrally located in the charming town of Pacific Grove. It's but a short walk to Lover's Point beach and downtown. Our home is ideal for a family interested in touring 17 Mile Drive, Point Lobos or Big Sur. Golfers will be very close to all of the great courses in the area: Pacific Grove Municipal, Spyglass, Poppy Hills, Spanish Bay and Pebble Beach are all but a short drive from the house. Shoppers are close to the outlets and the shops of Carmel. Cannery Row is nearby as well. Enjoy lounging in a comfortable living room with fireplace and large screen, high-definition television. House is wireless Internet equipped as well. Three bedrooms upstairs sleep two each. Couches downstairs pull-out for overflow. Fully-equipped kitchen and sunlit breakfast nook. Dining room seats 12 comfortably.
Walk downtown for a newspaper and pastries. Return to house for coffee in the sunlit breakfast nook. Take a long walk down to Lover's Point and along the coast trail to Asilomar Beach. For runners, try the trail that goes to Fisherman's Wharf and back (about 6 miles round trip).
Ideal afternoon outing
Drive down highway one to Big Sur (about one hour). Check out Andrew Molera or one of the other amazing state parks. Stop for lunch on the way back at the River Inn. Enjoy a cool drink while dipping your toes in the Big Sur River. Stop at Point Lobos or downtown Carmel on the way home.
Twilight back nine at Pacific Grove Municipal. Dinner at Roy's in Spanish Bay resort. Walk thru the dunes on the lighted boardwalks. A nightcap by the fire.
Growing up in Pacific Grove was a delight. The town is still dear to my heart and managing this property allows me to stay connected to PG and to the wonderful home that my parents created. I enjoy golf, the outdoors and cooking.
Dave Laurance purchased this house in 1975
The house had plenty of room and centrally located to downtown.
The property was within walking distance of downtown. Pacific Grove is a wonderful area and the property was in a very safe neighborhood.
It was comfortable for our family of six. Much better than a hotel.
Would recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in the area because it is close to many wonderful areas like Pacific Coast Highway and Carmel.
We had a lovely stay with our two teenage boys. This was the last stop on a three week road trip. The promotional photographs do not do this house justice... it's much bigger! The rooms were nicely furnished, spacious and very comfortable.
The neighbourhood was lovely (very quiet), we walked to most places - the beach, aquarium and restaurants.
The weather was interesting: don't be fooled by the overcast mornings, the sun is still very strong and you'll still need sun creams; it may also be overcast on the peninsular but very sunny in the town centre. The breezes off the bay can be cool.
Dave made sure we had all the essentials - shampoos, conditioners, soaps, basic cooking ingredients like salts, herbs and spices. There was even a bottle of wine to welcome us 'home'. We only needed to shop for food everything else was in the house.
The kitchen was well stocked, with a range of pots, pans, crockery and glasses. Only the wine glasses were in sufficient numbers to be a matching set, but we weren't worried!
Dave provided us with bike hire information and a (really) lovely Mexican restaurant recommendation.
Thank you Dave.
Very cozy family home, a little old-fashioned, but for us that was an ' extra'. De bathtub however could not be used as a shower, so we had to share one (spacious!!) bathroom with 6 adults. For just two nights this was not a problem. The beds were good and there was more than enough space and furniture for everyone.
My husband and I along with 2 teenagers stayed at this house. It is an authentic Victorian home. We enjoyed having an entire house versus hotel rooms. We really couldn't see the ocean from any of the windows, so if that's important to you maybe consider another place. The kitchen had everything one would need to prepare a meal (which we did)! We all slept comfortably. The only complaint is the lack of shampoo and paper towels. It would have been nice to not have to run out and make these purchases. I know these items don't cost that much and I expected that they would be provided. We were also a bit worried about running out of clean towels, so we reused what was provided. (No washer/dryer). Other than that, it really was a great place to stay and we had an awesome time there.
We spent 2 nights, July 5 and 6 in this wonderful Victorian in a quiet Pacific Grove Neighborhood. The home is large and very comfortable. We found it to be clean with a well equiped kitchen, there is a laundry in the basement. The location is great for visiting the Monterey Aquarium, Cannery Row, the 17 Mile Drive, Peeble Beach, Carmel or just enjoying the quiet little town of Pacific Grove.
