This house made for a great weekend. It is super close to a ton of different hikes and Luray Caverns. We didn't venture out to any restaurants or anything, but the house was stocked with supplies we needed to cook the food we brought. Loved the canoe and swings and the firewood that was supplied. Definitely will be returning :)
We had a good experience overall. The cabin is cozy and nicely situated right off the river. Great location -- only 15 minutes from downtown Luray. The cabin is also great for kids, as there's a small swing set, lots of room to run and play outside, and a fun oversized bean bag. You really feel like you're out in the middle of the woods. On the plus side, it's quiet and tranquil. On the minus side, it's quite rustic -- the water smells like sulfur, there are a lot of critters, and it's a bumpy ride to get from the main road to the cabin. The cabin also needs to be updated a bit. Note that the bathroom is not on the same level as the bedroom.
Perfectly isolated from the noise of the city listening to a babbling river, absent the clamor of neighbors this is a piece of heaven.
Very comfortable indoors. Outdoors was spiders, raccoons, Mosquitos, just like any river property. Road closed at shuler and sparrow. Definitely needed truck we brought but it added to the charm. House was 89 degrees when we arrived, but cooled down in just a few hours. Not great access for canoeing or fishing but we were there to rest.
We stayed at the cabin for 5 nights. As advertised it was directly on the river. Beautiful grounds along with a fire pit and picnic table and grill right on the river. There is a canoe to use there also. Everything we needed was there for a great vacation. I recommend going to the Luray Caverns and spend some time in the town also. Hawksbill diner is a great place for breakfast. Skyline dr is a great way to spend a day also. Just be careful of the road leading into the cabin if you are in a car take it slow and you will be fine. If you are looking for a secluded getaway this is for you! Great stay!
This cabin is ideal for a romantic getaway or a small family or group of friends. It’s perfectly located right on the river, literally a few feet and you’re by the water!
A perfectly located picnic table is at the edge of the river with a water source right next to it, how convenient is that?! The view from the balcony is breathtaking and you can hear the birds singing and even see the fish jump in the river from your own balcony! And when the weather got cold, we stayed inside and enjoyed the view from the windows that all have a river view including the bedroom!
We stayed 3 nights at this beautiful cabin and were lucky enough to have experienced all seasons during our stay! The first day it was very warm and we fished and watched the turtles lay on a tree log under the sun. The second day it snowed and we watched the entire scene in white! The third day the snow was gone and we were back to early Spring weather.
We saw lots of birds and took long walks along the river trail. The view at the back of the property is also amazing. We used to love going to the nearby grocery stores to experience the view during our drive. It’s like a screen saver! with the sky, clouds, mountains and multi colors of the trees.
Lindy was so accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. She was one phone call away whenever we had a question. Thank you so much Lindy for sharing your beautiful property with us.
The cabin is only 15 minutes to major shopping and historic downtown Luray, including WalMart, CVS Pharmacy, Grocery Stores, and many fast and slow restaurants. The West Main Deli in Luray is the best fresh food in town! Luray Caverns is also in the same shopping area. Skyline Drive is only about a scenic 40 minute drive! Skyland has a great restaurant as well!
