The Cabin is a 5 bedroom, 2 bath home on a wooded area. There are several acres of recreational land including a 1/2 acre pond for swimming, canoeing & fishing. In addition to being quiet and secluded, we are less than 10 minutes from shopping and many restaurants and less than 30 minutes from Downtown K" and Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun.

Great place

Wonderful place to stay. Love the secluded quiet neighborhood. Loved seeing the deer. Saw fish in the pond. Took a little hike. Would stay again

Nice for larger groups

This house was nice for large groups plenty of space. The kids really enjoyed the air hockey table. The adults really enjoyed feeling like we weren't in the city while still being close to the city.

Wonderful, HUGE house in secluded area

Enjoyed our stay at GMa Cabin. A huge house with plenty of rooms and beds for multiple clans. Only negative comment is there was no toilet paper and counters and dishes were a little dusty. Definitely not a deal killer. Beautiful surroundings with plenty to do 20 minutes back towards KC.

Several of us flew in for a funeral from out of state, and although we were Leary due to the bad reviews we decided we would try considering it looked like it had the big space we needed. Pros- tons of space, tons of beds, large kitchen, nice neighborhood Cons- dirty, with that high of a cleaning fee I assumed they are paying good money for the place to be cleaned . First impression was terrible as the place had not been cleaned. All bedding was dirty. Wet bedding in washer. Counters. Tables. Carpet bathrooms all dirty. Cleaners showed up about 1.5 hours after we arrived

The place is dirty and unkept, Kitchen garbage can not emptied. Mouse droppings in the cubbards and drawers, sheets and towels in the dryer, beds unmade, dead bugs in bed, grass and plants overgrown on sidewalk. Upon checkin 2 codes in email for garage opener didnt work so we couldnt get in, Contacted host. They me another one that didnt work, Contacted again and this one worked. Arrived late and didnt see all of this. That night a bug was crawling on me in bed at 3am. Left in the morning and rented a hotel. Contacted VRBO with pics. Host claims house was clean. Pics don't lie. Check the metadata. Would never stay here again. Renter beware. Read multiple prior reviews on this house. We don't normally read them. After this occured, we read them and realized what we were into. We will read all reviews prior to renting in the future. Review is honest. Look at these pics. I use vrbo a lot. All my reviews are positive. This is the first bad review.

This is the 2nd time we've stayed at Grandma's Cabin. Given the opportunity we'll likely stay here again. We love the versatility and the space! We understand it is an older building, it's had some basic love and care. There are a few things that should be taken care of, many of the chairs are in wobbly condition & need repair.. the broken ones should just be removed from the property. Not all the pillows had pillow cases. There's a big big yard, the kids wanted to go out and play, but since the back area hadn't been mown there were sticktites everywhere.. It would be nice if there was a workable broom, dustpan, vacuum, mop & basic cleaning supplies available. There were no dishtowels to be found. We ran out of toilet paper and paper towels. We had to get our own dish soap. The Roku in the living room is dead. The TV in the room with orange coverlets has audio fading issues. The TV in the master has no remote, so you have to get up to it turn off or adjust the volume. We definitely left the place cleaner than we found it. If Mark invested a little more in the cleaning and stocking this would be an A1 place to stay.

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE

The description on this VRBO is absolutely false. Upon arrival it looked like a run down home. You could not even walk through the walkway it was overloaded with weeds. The back yard was full of broken lawn furniture, a broken picnic table and trash grills. The back sliding door had a piece of plywood over it. Upon entering the house, there was awful smell- wasnt sure if it was sewer, mold or mildew. The furniture was full of holes and filth. We brought our camping chairs in, becasue we didnt feel safe sitting on the furniture. The carpet was full of stains. The bedding was all filthy, even the comforters. We ended up going to Walmart to get air mattresses and our own sheets. The 2nd day we were greeted at the entrance door into the kitchen by a GIANT black spider. We found several spiders on the beds and the furniture and also on our air mattresses. We ended up sleeping in our cars on our 2nd night there because of the spider infestation and condition of the house.

Big Disappointment!

This place was extremely misrepresented. Totally run down, dirty, with mold and mildew in the bedroom. Roof has visibly leak in one room and carpet underneath was soaking wet. Outside siding on house has wet rot. Other then mowing, landscaping hasn't been touch in a long time. Cushions on lawn furniture dirty and bleached out. House has had multiple add-ons that were not done well. Family met here for celebration of life for the family patriarch and all were shocked at the condition of the house. This should be retitled from Grandma's house to Flop house.

Property had mold in the downstairs closets, the tv cabinets and dressers were dirty inside and underneath, the kitchen had mouse droppings in the utensil drawers and spice cabinet, one downstair window was missing the locks and screen like someone had busted in once before so it was unlockable. The garage you entered from was very dirty and moldy. Overall the property is not maintained well and posed a health risk. We emailed the property owner with no response as 36 hours after the email. I would not rent this spot or from this property owner again.

Unacceptable living conditions

When we first walked in it was obvious that nothing had been cleaned. The entire house smelled like Mildew. Prior to arriving the home owner mentioned that some bedrooms flooded and insisted that it would be taken care of prior to are stay. One bedroom was unusable due to the soaking wet carpets and horrific smell. None of the beds were prepared and we cleaned them when we arrived. There were also bugs in multiple beds. Detergent was not provided. Toilet paper was not provided. Hand soap was not provided. Garbage left in the can from previous tenants. Along with that there was dirty laundry on the floor. There was also molded food and drinks left in the rooms. The garage didn’t open and was also left dirty and disgusting. We are requesting a refund due to the extremely poor conditions of the home. None of the amenities listed were provided and the house did not meet our needs.

What makes this property unique

There is a lot of open space around Grandma's Cabin that you can stroll through.

The Fishing and Swimming pond is located to the north of the driveway, about a 5 minute walk.

We have stocked the pond with catfish, crappie, blue gill and small mouth bass. If you want to fish you will need to bring your own poles and tackle. Small bait worms seem to produce the best results for the crappie and blue gill.
