We had such a great stay at this charming 1896 farmhouse! It’s super spacious, quiet, and perfect for our outing with family. The kitchen had everything we needed—both a coffee pot and Keurig with plenty of coffee and tea, which was a nice touch. We loved swinging on the front porch under the stars while Barry Manilow played on the vintage record player (yes, we really did this!)The beds were comfy, the towels were soft, and everything was clean and smelled great. The wide staircase upstairs and all the little vintage details gave it so much character. Our host was great and the property was just as listed. The house is still being restored, so just a heads-up: the main bedroom downstairs has open rafters (no ceiling yet), and the concrete steps leading to the side kitchen door can be a little tricky, so watch your step. All in all, it was a cozy, peaceful getaway and a great spot to relax and breathe in some fresh country air. We’d definitely come back!
Our stay was amazing! We enjoyed the peaceful setting of this beautiful farmhouse with a neat history. We highly recommend this place to all looking for comfort and a great place to stay for your family and friends.
Lovely house, quaint but well-appointed with everything you need for a just weekend away from the hustle and bustle. Very clean and comfortable - absolutely no complaints at all and would definitely stay here again.
We had 7 people stay for 2 nights. The home check in process was easy. The owner was easy to communicate with. A lot of special touches, it felt like home!
Well, staying here changed me a bit. I am the great-nephew of the previous owner and family who built this house in 1896. It was such a delight to see how well this property has been taken care of after not setting foot in this house in almost 20 years. The host has seen to every detail to pay tribute to the rich history of the properly, honor the craftsman ship of the house itself, and yet make it feel modern and comfortable with all the things one expects when staying in a VRBO/vacation rentral. Internet/Wifi was fast, modern TV and kichen equipment was appreciated, and everything was spotless and smelled good which can be hard to pull off on an old country home like this. So many old memories now mixed with new ones while staying here over Little Italy Festival weekend '25. The specifical decorations to celebrate the fest were a great touch! The properly is truly tranquil at all times - especially first thing in the morning (and our little city dog LOVED being off her leash in the yard!). Several of my family stopped in to "tour" the house over the weekend. Everyone was so impressed and a bit overcome with joy at the feelings of being here. I know most other travelers probably won't have the same emotional connection that we had while staying here, but I can assure all that you'll feel like you've stepped back in time to something really cool if you do book at stay here! You can't ask for much more in Vermillion Co Indiana than this! Will come back! Bobby L
The home is absolutely beautiful, everything was in good working order, the beds were comfortable, it was clean, and the owner responded promptly when contacted. The only issue was one of the people in our party could not locate the property so we went and found them. We will definitely consider staying again.
What a farmhouse should be; turkeys, deer, coyotes, wildflowers a plenty, and lots of birds. One field had beans planted early. Peaceful walks in the countryside
Wonderfully restored and updated old farmhouse! Love the preserved history and the restoration. Nicely decorated, well furnished with everything you need. Plenty of room for everyone. This property is just a few minutes from several covered bridges and fall festivities but is very peaceful and quiet. Nice fall foliage all around.
A group of 7 adults stayed here for a family wedding. Beautiful setting and a house full of charm yous expect in an old farm house. Not a great spot if anyone in your party has difficulty with steps!
Our family (8 adults) enjoyed a fabulous stay at the 1896 Farmhouse over a weekend. We chose this property because it was close to Turkey Run, where we went hiking and kayaking for a couple days. The home was beautiful, clean and charming. We enjoyed the campfire pit in the yard where we roasted brats and marshmallows for s’mores. Anita was an excellent communicator. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend.
If you intend to work there at all, you may want to inquire about wifi / internet connection.
Such a beautiful and fun house. Beds and pillows were super comfortable and everyone slept well. Some nice little touches like a snack jar and plenty of towels and toiletries. We arrived around 1 am and it was very dark and we were worried we were creeping around the wrong house, but Apple Maps took us to the right location. The only thing I wish I had know was that there wasn’t wi-fi. One of our family members needed to work and wasn’t able to. Verizon had limited service, and T-mobile and At&T had zero service from the house. Lots of cozy places to sit and gather.
The house was difficult to find but fortunately the owner was easy to get a hold of and she talked us through it. Very clean and very spacious. There were 6 adults and we had plenty of space to not be on top of each other.
We had to go to Clinton for a funeral so this house is super close to everything we needed and had to attend.
The only negative is the time of year it is right now and the situation for which we had to come but in the positive we found an amazing place to stay for future visits with the family in Indiana.
I will come back for sure! Thank you so much Anita for al your help!
All the charm of 1896, but with the comfort of today. If you can handle the serenity of being in the middle of nowhere, this is your place. Beautiful setting, clean grounds surrounded by trees and cornfield. While the house was immaculate, we ended up spending a good chunk of time on the front porch, even the teenagers, talking, laughing, reflecting or just taking it all in. It could've been 1896.
The beds were very comfortable, the wood floors perfectly preserved, plenty of space inside and out. Not a lot of technology but coverage was sufficient to make calls and plan activities.
Easy 25-minute drive to Turkey Run or Terre Haute. Miss the place already.

Host has really modernized 120+ year farmhouse yet allowed and lovingly restored the gorgeous antique floors, rooms and character to remain.
All four of us slept like rock in comfortable beds.
Has a dvd player with variety of movies from which to choose - we watched three of them while sipping hot cider & cocoa.
Loved fire pit in side yard and availability of firewood near.
The kitchen has many utensils, pots/pans & dishes. But be sure to bring all food with you. Does provide wide selection of Kerrigan eas & coffees and cider packs & sugar packs. Had jar of granola bars but do not think we ate any as too full of festival fair food during stay.
Fridge and appliances very nice and everything so clean.
Guests absolutely lov d cow painting in dining room, sheer curtains, flag on porch and quiet secluded location.
Would stay again.
