We have been traveling to Mexico for many years, and just by chance ended up staying on one of the beautiful beaches along Concepcion Bay. We fell in love with the people, beaches, fishing, kayaking, and exploring. We had been searching for the perfect 'dream home', and in June of 2010, we not only found it, we but bought it!
It has been a bed and breakfast for the last 10 years. We will be renting it out, so that we can share the wonders of Baja with you! We have made many improvements and added many toys to complete your dream vacation. Our dream home, or Casa de los Sueños as we like to call it, translated in English is our 'house of Dreams!' Truly, a place for families to feel secure while making countless memories!
Mike McGuire purchased this villa in 2010
Beautiful views, beautiful beaches, and beautiful people!
Way too many activities to even list

On my second day out of Mulege we took a Panga out to Tortuga Island. It took us about 2 hours to get there from Mulege but we did not mind, as conditions were greasy flat calm. We arrived at a high spot next to Tortuga and immediately started to make bait. Water temperature was 82 and crystal clear.
While our captain was pulling up mackerel I decided to drop an iron down and I ended up picking up a Yellowfin Tuna! The captain was super stoked because he had not had a tuna in his boat for 5 years, I was even more stoked for the sashimi!
Most of our bait did not survive, but we were able to send one lively mackerel. Got picked up by a real big jack on the bottom but eventually lost him. We ended up cutting up our dead mackerel and sticking them on an iron and landed a 45lb gulf grouper.
After all that fishing it was time to move in to the island and dive a bit. I could not believe how clear the water was, it was easily 80-100 foot of viz! I dove down to 60 feet and picked up a nice cabrilla and brought him to the boat. After swimming away from the boat I looked over to my side and could not believe what I was seeing, Wahoo! I had a nice school around me and could not believe it. I noticed that they were losing interest in me quickly so I decided to dive down on them and at least try a shot on them, even though all I had was my 110cm gun. I ended up taking a long shot on one and having it bounce off, bummer! Even though I missed out on getting a Wahoo I was still stoked to see them in 50 feet of water.
We spent the rest of the day diving around Tortuga, loading up on cabrilla and snapper. Had a nice ride back from the island with calm flat seas. Overall, Tortuga is a long run but can be very rewarding.
I had an amazing time and was fortunate enough to get to stay with Mike and his family. I would have never imagined how amazing and fun place it is to be! There are so many activities that are just a short walk down the steps, and then you are on the beach. Activities including snorkeling, paddle boarding, spearfishing, swimming and rock jumping! The weather was extremely hot while I was there but that just made me stay in the warm bay water even more. Don't forget to drink lots of water! Especially when you are out enjoying the water in the sun. There is also a natural hot spring right on the beach if ever you feel like you are cold in the water. The house is amazing and has a great common place for people to hang out and socialize. One of my favorite things to do while in Baja was get a beach chair and put it in the water at night and just sit there relaxing, looking at the stars. Given the world we live it in this is a great escape from the technology that controls our world. There is limited wifi at the house which in my opinion is awesome, it forced everyone who was there to take in our surroundings and enjoy every second spent at the house and in the surrounding community. I can't wait to go back again and recreate the amazing, adventurous and memorable experiences.
This place is very special. We made the long drive from San Diego, which was actually pretty nice. Mike, the owner was helpful in telling us where to stop -which put m at ease as I was a little nervous. My husband has been going to Baja for years on dive trips, but I have never joined him. I finally got the chance this time, and I have to say that this house and the town of Mulege have won my heart. First of all, the pictures do not do this house justice - it is a gorgeous home in a gorgeous setting with plenty of room for large groups. The view will captivate and inspire you. The sunrise every morning is a real treat - don't miss it! I loved feeling like we were the only ones there, in a private oasis. To be able to get in the water any time, snorkel, kayak, paddle board....all there at the house was awesome as well. The snorkeling around the bay is like nothing I've ever seen, the water is so beautiful and clear!! I highly recommend going into the town of Mulege and visiting the local businesses. Everyone was so lovely and welcoming. As someone else mentioned, they are honest, good people....be respectful and friendly...and try to speak a little Spanish with them. I'm still learning, so I was nervous but everyone was so patient and even gave me some pointers :) I also recommend the experiences available such as Saul (owner of a local restaurant) to come cook for you at the house - he and his wife are so sweet and the food is off the charts amazing! Also Juan Carlos who runs a pontoon - takes you out to catch clams and seafood then cooks it for you on a private beach. I want to write a special note about the property manager, Ruben. He is a great guy and was so kind to us...he treated us like family. We cannot say enough about him, and his care for this property and the town of Mulege. We really enjoyed his company, and getting to know him. Mike is lucky to have him looking out for the house!! It was a joy and privilege to visit this beautiful part of Baja, and to stay at Casa de Los Sueños. Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a special experience. We can't wait to return and bring friends to share the experience with!!
K & K
This place is magical. We've always wanted to go to Baja, and we're so glad that we did it! My husband and I took the 21 hour drive with our pup Marcus from the San Francisco Bay area. When the owner Mike found out that we planned to drive, he was incredibly helpful at getting us there, from how to cross the border, to what to eat to where to stay that was dog friendly and fantastic.
Reuben, who cares for the villa, was accommodating and overly gracious. He lent us his personal motor boat so that we could go out to the farthest of islands in the Bahia de Concepcion to see the nesting sites of the gentle Brown Pelican, which literally brought tears to my eyes and will continue to be one of the most special moments of my life. He also gave us the insight to go to an island with a beach all our own, to snorkel where we saw manta rays, colorful fish and enjoyed crystal clear waters.
There are kayaks, paddle boards at the villa, and the ENTIRE BEACH in front of the villa is made from tiny sea shells! There is even a natural hot spring right there on the beach. Waking up to the sunrise over the puente Concepcion is an experience I indulged in every day.
My husband and I are vegan, so we brought a lot of food because we did not know what we would find to eat. We were so excited to see that Mike has a great kitchen with gas stove and oven, and a ninja blender - with which I made some of the most amazing salsa with fresh produce from local merchants. No matter how you eat, I s highly suggest buying a giant papaya, some tiny bananas and fresh lime juice - blend that with coconut milk and ice for breakfast to start the day on a high note!
In closing, I will admit that we were more than a little nervous to take the drive, but there was absolutely no need as Mike had assured us. We never once felt unsafe or unwelcome for that matter. The people of Baja welcome tourists, and are gracious beyond belief. They are hard working, honest, good people. Brush up on some basic Spanish, be respectful and friendly, and you will receive that back 10 fold.
It was an honor to visit this lovely part of Mexico, and to stay at Casa Suenos!!!
Thank you Mike. Thank you Reuben. We are eternally grateful for this beautiful experience and will recommend this to all of our family and friends!
Amazing place. Truly breath taking. Here is why.
The view is worth every penny, and almost not matter what you will have a spectacular sunrise every day there. Because of where the Villa sits in the protection of the bay, every night if there is wind, it will calm down so by the morning you will have a beautiful and glassy bay to greet you.
There is soo much to do right at the villa itself. Kayaking to other boat or local beaches with restaurant. And maybe if you stayed there for long enough and want to do something different, you can go into town and experience the wonderful local culture and cuisine. Amazing time, can't wait to get back.
We stayed here a week and couldn't get enough of it!! for us it was the perfect getaway!, and there wasn't a second out of the day where we both felt bored. My girlfriend and I would paddle board in the mornings, Kayak over to the massive Whale shark and snorkel with him for an hour or so everyday. After a great Lunch, we would explore the many islands surrounding our Beach front Villa, cliff jumping, world class spearfishing, finding scallops, and muscles. After are jam packed days full of exciting adventure it was perfect to sit in the natural hot springs below our deck and have a refreshing beverage! Well be Back for sure!!
This year we elected to have a private and relaxing stay in The Casita instead of our usual, frenetic, Friends-And-Family style of vacation. We really felt like we were "back home", especially when some of the neighbors and local restaurant owners recognized us and welcomed us back! We were relieved and happy to see that there was no visible hurricane damage to The Casita from Hurricane Odile, which had lambasted the area in September. While we were there, owners Mike and Stephanie, along with local workers, were busily repairing some minor hurricane damage to the main house, as well as doing general upkeep and improvements. From what I could see, Casa de Los Suenos is looking better than ever, and it's obvious that the owners care about maintaining and improving their beautiful property. We enjoyed tranquil snorkeling every day, fires on the beach at night, and soothing soaks in the natural hot springs on the beach. But my favorite activity was just sitting on the porch of The Casita, reading, and enjoying the world-class view. The sunrises from The Casita are sublime and are worth an early rising.
Canyoneering to cave paintings, several exciting geo caches on islands and mountains, snorkeling on a reefs and wrecks outside your back door, 8+ kayaks included to explore private beaches-mangroves-and 7 islands, world class sports fishing, whale watching and surfing on the pacific side, shopping, Old missions in the area.......And the whale sharks are making a come back every spring April -July, 7 in 2010, great for snorkeling with. You may also collect clams and scallops from the region.
