Completely restored English basement unit in Upscale Brick Townhouse built in 1865 offers modern craftsmanship and comfort. Beautifully furnished and light-filled, this unit is right smack in the heart of Capitol Hill!

A locked, gated entrance leads to this separate apartment. Once you enter, you will walk into a very comfortable living room with two coaches, hardwood floors with oriental rugs, a fire place, 50-inch flat-screen TV, and a table for dining. The fully equipped kitchen includes all the amenities – oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, utensils, pots, pans, plates, glasses; basically everything you will need in a kitchen!

There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the second with a twin bed. (The unit can also accommodate a fourth guest with a twin bed that is available when notifying the owner in advance). Fresh linens, pillows, blankets and comforters are provided. There is one full bathroom equipped with fresh towels, shampoos/conditioners, shower gels, soap and a hairdryer.

The unit is also fully air-conditioned, includes Wifi, Direct TV w/ HBO & Showtime, a washer/dryer and a temporary parking permit for street parking. An added bonus is the use of the gorgeous landscaped backyard which includes patio furniture.

Conveniently located 3 blocks from the US Capitol Building, and 3 blocks to Eastern Market. Easy walking to 15+ area restaurants, supermarkets, liquor stores and area shops and boutiques. 2 min walk to Bus Stops & 5 min walk to either Capitol South or Eastern Market Metro subway stops.

About Christie

My husband and I have lived on Capitol Hill in this home for the past 10 years and absolutely love the neighborhood! We have also put a lot of work into the house to make it a truly modern and comfortable dwelling. Since we live and work close by we are available to attend to any needs that our guests might have and welcome the opportunity to offer suggestions and tips on tours, restaurants, area events, etc.

Why Christie chose Eastern Market

The location is fabulous and convenient to everything! The Capitol Hill Historic District was voted one of America's 10 Best Neighborhoods by US News & World Report. The neighborhood is extremely picturesque with historic townhouses dating back to the early 1800s. Brick sidewalks canopied by beautiful mature trees make walking the area a true delight! Also mass transit is available literally around the block and there are so many fantastic restaurants within walking distance! (FYI - This house was not rented, or listed on VRBO from 2013 until January 2017, so reviews are not available from that time period).

What makes this apartment unique

Enjoy a 3 minute walk to several local Capitol Hill attractions such as the Capitol Building, Congressional & Senate offices, Library of Congress and Supreme Court. Also just moments away, guests can find bus stops and a bike share station to explore the city. There are also two metro stations (Eastern Market and Capitol South) only 4 blocks away.

Supermarkets, liquor stores and shops are all within a 3 minute walk. Eastern Market, featuring it's weekend farmer's market and craft fair is a popular attraction for locals and tourists. Also, you might just spot a Congressman or Senator as many members of the House and Senate live in the neighborhood!

Great location. Clean and nicely furnished. Excellent value.

The apartment was very nice. The only thing I wish I knew ahead of time was that it only had one portable electric heater to heat all the rooms. Being a basement unit and the time of year we visited, it was very cold for us Southerners on the first 2 nights when temperatures dropped below freezing. Despite that, we would absolutely stay there again and recommend it to others.

The owner was very nice and responded promptly to all messages and communications.

Location was fabulous. We walked to everything. Metro was very close and easy to navigate for first timers. Area felt safe, even when walking after sundown. Having parking included was definitely a selling feature for us.

I'm sorry that I was out of town during your visit for Thanksgiving and that one of the two heating units malfunctioned during your stay. The unit has since been replaced and two heating units are now available for use for future visits.

Convenient and Cozy

We really loved our stay in this wonderful apartment. It was about 4 blocks away from the metro station which can take you all around the city. It was tastefully decorated and quite comfortable. The beds were comfortable and had wonderfully warm down quilts perfect for our winter stay. Food stores and restaurants were also quite close. The owner was very nice and made sure we had all we needed. She gave us a car parking pass for the few days we rented a car to venture farther outside the city. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay there again.

Everything you would want!

Wow! What a great rental!

This gem, located conveniently in the heart of Capital Hill, is a great rental. I stayed for six nights on a get-away/work visit to Washington. It has all the amenities one needs for a home base while being a tourist in the city. Simply decorated while elegant style, it provided all the comforts of home. As a home base for 4 days of business, it was a comfortable and quiet place to return after a long day of work, sometimes to do nothing but relax in the spacious living room. For those concerned with a basement apartment, worry no more. Windows are appropriately located to provide significant natural light in the living room and bedroom.

Location provides the quietness needed yet is only a block or two for the Capital Hill stores, shops and restaurants if you want to slip out and take a safe walk through the neighborhood.

And your host....

Everything you want/need with a VRBO rental. Informative, pleasant and VERY responsive yet not intrusive! Great communicator!

Do it! You will not be disappointed!

Perfect apartment close to the Capitol!

Super nice, comfortable apartment. Totally quiet. Everything was perfect. Short walk to the Capitol, and Senate and House office buildings which were my destination. Just 20 minute walk to Union Station. I recommend it highly for people with business on Capitol Hill.

Great location, Great Amenities and Friendly Owner

This place was in a perfect location for us to navigate around DC with our two kids. We had separate small rooms for each child to sleep in with their own twin size bed and doors to close them off. The metro was in walking distance, as is the Capitol building and Library of Congress. There are great restaurants close by (a burger place, pizza place and coffee all next to each other). We really enjoyed our time here and highly recommend it!!

Lovely home and ideal location in every way!!

Beautiful, very comfortable, clean, cozy home. Excellent wifi! Lovely walk to the Washington Mall or easy walk to the metro. (which is a delight in itself to get there with all the beautiful homes, shops/restaurants/Eastern Market - which is a must to visit while there) Christie is excellent in communicating - and so very helpful and wealth of information with insight in the area and questions we had (things to do/restaurants in the area). Just a few blocks from the Capitol and the neighborhood is absolutely a delight! We could have just stayed visiting in the neighborhood for the weekend as it has so much to offer in itself. We also felt very safe the whole time - even returning home around 9 pm. For those interested in history (which I am!) - home was built in 1865 and Christie can fill you in on the rest! Lovely courtyard/patio area - a little haven from the big city! Can't say enough good things- definitely would hope to stay here on our next visit to D.C.
