Why Mitch King chose South Palmyra
This Castle is one of my Personal Residents, and by far my favorite. It is the perfect place to meet with your family, or close friends. All the wood floors, cabinets, moldings, etc. were handmade and milled on sight, from wood taken from trees of this Forest!. With the four seasons the Forest is constantly ever changing its beauty. The Castle is secluded and private. It is my Place for peace and tranquility...

We had a wonderful time st the castle
The castle is a unique property well suited for a great weekend away from it all. From The lavish house, to the great backyard for games and fun, to the stunning views from atop the turret, well, a good time was had by all in the group. Also to be mentioned, slow boat rides on the lake and stargazing in the professional observatory. You must stay at the castle!
Super Unique and In the Middle of Nowhere
We loved our stay at the Castle of Palmyra, with a group of friends primarily from Chicago this past weekend. The castle is great for a long weekend get away with friends. Large kitchen and patio for entertaining, and every one found the bedrooms comfortable. Several of us even enjoyed 9 holes of golf at Terry Park. Overall I would rate our stay as excellent!
Unparalleled beauty accompanied by resplendent accumens. This first class accommodation far surpassed my wildest expectations . From the mythical ambiance of the castle to the quiet solitude of the surrounding pastoral setting this destination far surpassed my wildest expectations. Our stay at this idyllic fablehaven was made even more pleasant by the interactions with the property manager.
Rental of the property for your get away is highly recommended . A good time will be had by all.
Our family of 8 adults and 8 children aged 7mo-10yr. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Castle.
We do an annual vacation with our 3 sons and their families and this years will certainly be memorable. We only left the house to go to the local Broom Orchard for Pumpkins and cider and short trips to get groceries and worms at the local Casey's market in Palmyra. This place is literally in the middle of nowhere! (Which was awesome) The castle was indeed an amazing structure with so many unique details. But it was the outdoors where we spent most of our days. We fished and our 10 yr. old grandaughter caught a 24in. Catfish!! All the grandkids caught fish and it was a grand time! They also enjoyed playing in the sand daily as I brought sand toys and the weather was gorgeous, in the 70's! They rode their bikes, went for hikes around the lake, had camp fires and fireworks at night! Inside they enjoyed the fooseball, pool, movie room and just being together. Adults enjoyed spending time with each other, puzzling, watching sports, competing in some mideval styled games, had a madrigal styled dinner with costumes and just enjoyed watching the kids play. There was also a basketball competition between my sons of who could make a shot from the top tower of the castle! It was done and we have video to prove it! We highly recommend the house for family gatherings! The host, Debbie was very accommodating!
This is a magnificent property
We booked this place online had never seen it only in pictures. It was chosen because with location between different family members. We showed up and expectations were not high enough because this was a magnificent property and became a great place for family reunion. Fishing ,walking or just enjoying the landscape and the house made it all so special
Abosulety perfect weekend.
My friends and I stayed there for a mini-motorcycle trip/weekend away from the wives.
There was plenty to do to keep ourselves busy; between the boat, the observation dome, the observation deck, lookout tower, hiking, horse shoes and fishing.
The town folk are very friendly and nice. Went to Old Seven Saloon and knew right away that we were staying at the castle but didn't mind letting us 'city folk' join in on their conversations. Shared many laughs, and a couple rounds of drinks.
If you're coming from Chicago try to book it when there will be a new moon or no moon. The most popular attraction was standing on the observation deck and looking at all the stars. Grown men laying on the floor just staring up at the sky. A very humbling moment for us that haven't experienced that.
My only complaint... I wish I booked it for a couple more days.
To the owner... From the bottle of my heart Thank You so much for letting us stay at your castle. This was a weekend that my guys will be talking about for years to come.
