About the property

Lodge, 7 Bedrooms, 7 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 21)

The best of Africa distilled into one lodge - Bushwise Safaris and Lodge is owner managed by Tim and Annette. With a hands-on approach, our costs are lower, so we are able to offer luxurious accommodation, outstanding safaris, delicious meals and excellent service at affordable prices. The lodge has five elegantly furnished, air conditioned double/twin rooms, all with bathrooms en-suite. All the rooms are big enough to fit another bed to accommodate a family with children. The two upper storey bedrooms each have their own private balcony with views over the Crocodile River into the Kruger Park. We remain small and personal, so our guests can be comfortably accommodated and cared for. The upper deck is open to the elements to breath in the African bush experience. The swimming pool is upstaris from which one can look into Kruger and watch the wild life coming down to the river to drink and play in the evenings.

On our open vehicle safaris into Kruger we often see the big five and most of what Kruger has to offer. We depart the lodge early and your guide will cook you breakfast inside the Kruger at one of the picnic spots over looking a water hole.

At Bushwise Safaris we are passionate about the African bush and the preservation and protection of this unique eco-system, so join us on a Bush safari, let us be your hosts and guide, let us show you our Africa...

My wife and I stayed for two days at Bushwise. We enjoyed the stay. Good food and good rooms for reasonable price. The staff was friendly and they knew a lot about Safaris and all the animals. If we will go back till Kruger we will go there again.

perfect escape

  • 5 of 5

First trip to Africa and didn't know exactly what to expect, so elected to make Bushwise home base to figure it out. We (mom and 12 year old daughter) were greeted by Viljoen, their guide, and knew we were in good hands. He was basically at our disposal the entire week. Patient, efficient, and really loves Kruger. We not only did game drives, but game walks, microlight flying, elephant back safari, trip to Maputo etc, - all arranged by Bushwise. The lodge is very laid back, like a second home. Super clean and safe. Tim and Annette are gracious hosts. Wildlife just outside is amazing (walks along the Kruger fence, zebras leaning over the boma, sunbirds in the garden, bushbabies jumping around during dinner, giraffes ambling by - awesome!!!). Then into Kruger for rhinos, hippos, elephants, lions and leopards (all of which we saw). Just excellent value and a great time. THANK YOU!!!!

What an experience!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we stepped off the plane, our experience with Bushwise Safaris was incredible. We were treated like family. The accomodations were wonderfully comfortable and the kids really enjoyed the pool. Which speaking of the pool, the views from the pool and the upper deck were fantastic.

Having said all of that . . . the best part of Bushwise Safaris is the safari guide, Vernor. He was knowledgable, kid friendly, fun and overall a fabulous guide! Make sure he makes you breakfast while in the park!

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

We loved our visit to Bushwise. Tim & Annette were wonderful hosts, and everything was even better than advertised. The lodge was clean & comfortable with everything we needed. It was peaceful & relaxing to hang out by the pool and watch the zebra come into the garden. The safaris out with our guide, Werner, were amazing & he patiently answered all our questions about the animals. Still not sure how he spied a dung beetle in the road while driving, but he stopped and let us watch it work away for a while -- never thought we would be so enthralled watching a beetle, but it was only one of many enthralling experiences at Bushwise! Our son got into bird watching while there, and Tim & Werner both were like teachers helping him to identify them by sight & sound. The food was wonderful, and enjoying it in the braai made it even better. Overall, only positive things to say about Bushwise!

Comfortable Adventure

  • 5 of 5

I could not be happier with my stay at Bushwise. Prior to departure, Annette was in constant contact - she was flexible with payment and even gave us packing suggestions. My travel companion did most of the communicating, but the emails I saw were friendly, helpful and timely. We were greeted at the airport on time by Werner - a very fun, knowledgable guide. He stayed with us all week - taking us to Blyde River Canyon (and agreeing to a detour on the way home to find soy milk for me), and expertly leading us through Kruger Park on our all day safari drive. He ate dinner with us each night and entertained us afterwards. I felt like a house guest, not a paying client. Tim and Annette eagerly asked about our days over happy hour drinks and shared their own stories. When we asked for a good running route, Tim even drove us along his favorite path so we would know where to go. The food at breakfast and dinner was abundant and freshly prepared, and there were plenty of opportunities to stop for snacks, lunch, and water on each of our days out. Our rooms were simply adorned and comfortable, and I had no trouble with bugs at night. At the end of our stay, Tim and Annette even arranged for our transfer to meet a friend in Maputo. They could not have made the trip more logistically easy for us. I highly recommend this lodge.

My South Africa Adventure

  • 5 of 5

Annette helped tremendously with decisions on my booking. Werner took exceptional care of us at the start. From the airport, through the rain, fixing our drinks, organizing our meals and guiding safari outings. He did it all with grace and kindness. I loved the story Tim told about the croc and the kayak. We had a wonderful, peaceful time. Felt at home. A big thanks to all for the special attention given to our personal needs. Very accomodating!! Especially loved viewing the animals at the river while in the infinity pool. Well worth the expense. We hope to return again.

Fabulous place

  • 5 of 5

We booked for two nights and got memories for a lifetime. The lodge is great and I loved the open bar and infinity pool with view into Kruger with its wildlife right in front of you. Warthogs are passing the court and Hippos are grunting a few feet away from the fence. Tim and Annette are very friendly, caring, humerous and very helping. The guides (Tim & Werner) know to tell stories of their experiences in the bush - hillarious and exciting ones and always with a cheeky smile in their face. We were lucky to be the only guests on our first evening and so we had the joy to experience the most romantic dinner ever - sitting outside at the logfire, delicious veggie food, wine, ... I do not know what other lodges offer, but what I do know is that Tim, Annette, Werner and staff did everything to make our stay an unforgettable one.

Loved it!!!
