About The Owner

We love the serenity and sound of the crashing waves, sunsets, hiking and traveling. Very active, we enjoy making the most of this beautiful life....

The Owner purchased this house in 1999

Why The Owner chose Central Coast

We've owned this home since we had it built in 1999. Florence is such a great community, with the wonderful Heceta Beach just right outside your door, old town Florence for fine dining and shopping and throw in the Three Rivers Casino for some fun night life...and you have the perfect location to do it all!

What makes this house unique

Quality and serenity. Long walks on the beach, sunsets over the ocean seen from our windows, sunrises viewed from the bed, gourmet kitchen... this is a place you will come back to again and again...

Guestbook comments from the owner

Absolutely fantastic!

A beautiful setting. Main floor is the 3rd floor with kitchen and master bedroom. Huge windows at tree top level. Well decorated. Sleep number bed. Gourmet kitchen with all equipment. My wife hadn't seen her brother or sister in 26 years. We had Thanksgiving dinner with them and spouses. Wonderful and blessed day. The beach is a 5 minute walk. Good bar about a quarter mile away. Can't say enoughgood things about the tree house.

Nicely decorated, but bad location and weird floor plan

  • 2 of 5

The neighborhood was very sketchy. Someone had even spray painted a sign saying "Thieves about, lock doors". The access to the beach wasn't as easy as described. You have to walk through a very narrow muddy path with bushes closed in on both sides. We were expecting a view of the ocean from the house, and you can barely see it from the master bedroom window. The layout of the house doesn't make any sense. We had family staying in a house close by and they couldn't ever come over to hang out because there was no space. The master bedroom has a bathroom that is open to the room. No privacy! Very difficult to use the bathroom when your spouse is in the bed next to the open toilet. No shower in master. There is a sauna that you aren't allowed to use. You aren't allowed to use the washer and dryer! You are at the beach in a home and can't use the washer and dryer! Ridiculous. We would have just stayed in a hotel had we known that. There is a TV downstairs, but for some reason there are speakers upstairs in the kitchen and master bedroom that are connected to the TV downstairs. So I couldn't sleep if someone wanted to stay up and watch TV, because I would have it blaring in the bedroom. We actually ended up leaving early. The one good thing I can say is that the home was decorated nicely. Wouldn't stay here again.

Owner's Response: We are very sad to see that your experience was different than the other 65+ 4/5 star reviewers we have had. It is unfortunate as we feel much (or all) of this might have been averted by paying attention and genuinely reading the documentation as well as looking at the photos/videos. Let me address the “sketchy” neighborhood comment: As a retired police officer this is something I know a little about. The sign you refer to is approximately a mile away and along a major thoroughfare (nowhere near the Tree House). Further, this sign was put up by those home owners’ years ago (truly) and has never been taken down. The location of the Tree House is surrounded by multimillion dollar homes with caring and watchful owners. These neighbors communicate with each other via neighborhood email list (of which the Tree House owners are a part of). We have never been burglarized and although due caution should always be a part of your normal routine, we do not feel this comment is at all warranted. As for the privacy comment: It is interesting that one of the things most of our guest find appealing is the one you find objectionable. That is certainly your discretion however again, the pictures/video and documentation advertise and disclose these types of details. It’s kind of the point of the Tree House… an intimate setting, overlooking the nearby Heceta Beach. While there is a Sauna, we do not advertise it and do not allow its use for sanitary reasons. I sure you can appreciate this. Regarding the trail down to the beach; If a person is not from Oregon, some simply logic rules apply here: Along the Oregon coast in the spring time you will have some water. It rains a lot. This can sometimes hamper trail or beach access. This is not unique to the Tree House and is found everywhere along the Oregon Coast. Again, reading the documentation would have helped immensely. We provide an alternate route to the beach. Regarding the washer and dryer; We DO allow access to it but do so on a case by case basis. The washer uses a special High Efficiency detergent. We feel our guest not being billed extra for damages is not "ridiculous". About the speakers: This is a feature designed for music. A simple press of a button would have taken care of it. As far as not being big enough for your ‘guest’, we are curious as to how ‘many’ guest you had. With 1500+ sq ft. if your party was very large, this was not the setting. It’s an intimate/family weekend house, not a party house.

impeccably appointed place

  • 5 of 5

A meticulously appointed and maintained place, like staying in a multi-star hotel but with the whole place to yourself. We stayed for 10 days midwinter- mostly gray and rainy outside but super comfortable in. The location is a little farther from Florence than I'd thought (10 min), but not a big deal, beach was big and quiet and coastal scrub gave it (beach) a sense of isolation. You're in the tree canopy in this house, hard to see the water so don't expect that, but the walk to the beach is easy short and scenic over a couple of dunes. If you're staying for awhile note that there's no washing machine, but clean laundromats in town. Super fast internet in house. Highly recommend.

It is by far the best vacation rental that I have been in Florence.

I've been going out to the Oregon Coast since 1982 and found the best place for me to be Florence, OR. I have been on the Beach with beautiful views but the inside of the house was very dark. I have had nice accomandations, but not Great ones, until I came to the Tree House this year, and was overwhelmed by the beauty and well thought of interior design. I plan on coming back as long as I can for the rest of my life. Thank You Marty and Julie Tadlock. Don Weindorf

Lovely stay near the beach

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the tree house: the house is large and the master room with bathtub were lovely. The stairs were difficult for our little ones but I had read the reviews and so were able to combat this with a baby gate. The owners are accommodating and professional and I appreciate their thorough instructions throughout the house and pre-stay as well as quick responses to email. We were able to walk to the beach every day (with toddlers in tow) and it was nearly empty each time. The area around Florence and the town itself are also quite cute with a ton of hiking and exploring to be had (I really recommend Hobbit Beach!). All in all, this was the perfect getaway for us.

The Tree House is a delightful place and we really enjoyed our stay.

We loved being perched at the tree tops in the upper level. The trail down to the beach was really fun and enchanting, a tunnel carved through the bushes in places. It made me feel like a character in Alice in Wonderland.

The Treehouse gets it's name from the wonderful view of the tree tops! Yes, that's are higher than the trees at 30 feet, giving this house a light and airy feel. Our guests love the views!

The Treehouse is located on a dead end street, in a quiet and private residential neighborhood. Enjoy the short nature walk directly from the Tree House down to the gorgeous beach...
