Canceled with no notice

While doing the booking process on VRBO I made a note that I wouldn't arrive until 3-4 am due to a late flight followed by a long drive. The host sent me a message to call and let them know at the desk. I called and told it would be no problem and they would make a note so it wouldn't get canceled. When I arrived at the airport it took me 2 hours to even get my rental car. I called about 2:30 am to tell the desk I was still coming but wouldn't arrive now until 5:30-6am. I was told they canceled my room hours ago and rebooked it to somebody else and all 122 of the rooms where booked out but was told not to worry I would receive a refund (still hasn't been credited to me). So after a flight landing a 12:03am, 2+ hours waiting in line to pick up my rental car adn almost 3 hours in a car, I arrived into Norman, OK at 5:45 without a place to stay. I found a new room and couldn't check in until 3 pm. The new room cost me more for 1 night then I had booked this one for 2 due to high demand on rooms with the Adidas Basketball Tourney in town.
