Sleepless nights in a convenient location.

  • 1 of 5

Pros: Location right across the street from an MBTA stop and 7-11. Comfortable couch and beds (memory foam toppers) and room to sleep 3 couples. Nice kitchen with lots of appliances and a gas stove, though we didn't make use of it.

Cons: We couldn't sleep at all due to stomping from the upstairs neighbor. No parking. Drafty windows, blinds and only thin curtains on some windows.

Conclusion: you could be comfortable here if the neighbor is gone. The only bar we set when we travel is a solid night's sleep and that bar was not met here. Avoid if you plan to sleep on your vacation.

Need a little more guidance for out of town renters and a few tweeks

  • 3 of 5

The apt. is cozy. However, let's start: Living room, bath, Kitchen, oven/stove, location, rules of the area, T.V., and finally how to leave.

1. When we first arrived in a new city and to a not so fancy address was a little disconcerting. We got the key and went in and found the living room with the couch in the middle of room sideways the small chair blocking the entry to kitchen and all the pictures on the wall everywhere crooked.

There was only one T.V. with a questionable sanitation of the remote. For the remote and T.V. a paper guide with what channels where available would have been convenient.

2. Bath - it was very clean and tidy, but only 3 towels for 3 people for 4 days with no way of knowing how to get more. There were items left in the shower, soaps and shampoos, not ours.

2. Kitchen - Only a few glasses didn't find the silverware till a day later in the cupboard. The kitchen table was pushed against the cabinet and chairs against the wall away from the table when we arrived. Onto the oven, we have electric stove/oven I don't trust gas appliances. To bring that forward it seemed that the pilot light was out in the oven and a smell of gas was in the air when we came back from our outing. Contacted our manager and took 4 hours for someone to get out to fix (relight). No dish detergent or cleaning supplies.

4. We don't live in Boston....would have helped us if there where directions and small map of the local area and how to use the public transportation, prices, how to get to POI's like "Cheers" or other famous landmarks from the apt.

5. So we had no instructions on how to leave. What was expected of us ie. place all linens/towel in a corner. Do we wash the dishes with hand soap because the dishwasher didn't have detergent for it. Garbage had no extra garbage bags, we reused, the same one for 4 days. Who to contact once we left.

In all we liked the place but the issues above need to be looked into to make the stay easier and more pleasant. To note Shawn and Eli where great and pleasant.

Cozy, Close and Convenient

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this apartment and found it to be exactly what we wanted for our Boston trip. It is cozy, an older building so don't expect brand new and shiny. It had all of the necessities that we needed for our stay. It was clean and very comfortable. The bed was comfy, the air conditioning good. We chose this property because of its closeness to the T. Literally, it's a walk across a not-too-busy street. We came and went at all times during the day and always felt safe and so happy to be close to "home" after a long day. We used public transportation to and from the airport and during our week in Boston. We easily accessed the apartment. The location was also convenient to a grocery and local activities and eateries. We walked, probably a mile one way, to a large grocery store to get breakfast items with no problems. Shawn, the site contact, was so accessible. We needed a few items for breakfast prep. He honored our request in a very timely manner. We could ask questions as they arose and always received a response. I should have prefaced this review with the fact that we are a retired couple. This apartment met our needs and then some.

Comfy beds and close to subway station!

  • 4 of 5

Pros: Soft beds and clean linens, close to subway, Shawn is very helpful and quick to answer, all the amenities you need are provided.

Cons: close to subway (a little bit of a sketchy crowd come dark), some noise complaints from the neighbors but that out of owners control, a little small for 2 couples but we weren't there a lot so it was fine. Over all the apt. Could use a coat of paint to refresh and make the place seem cleaner. Overall though we were pleased with our stay.

Conveniently Located to Subway, Great Price

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful trip in Boston and enjoyed our stay here. It is right across the street from Andrew Station (Red Line) which made for quick and easy trips into the city with our 4 year old. There is a small grocery store right across the street as well, so snacks and staples are easy to get. The laundry mat across the street is not a typical "take it and do your own laundry" setup. You have to give it to the owners and they charge by the pound and do it for you, available a few hours later. They use nasty cheap soap, so I would recommend bringing your own.

The place was clean and the pictures are accurate. It has cable TV, which was nice when you just needed to take a break from all the running around. The WiFi is pretty much unusable though. It's EXTREMELY slow (I was getting between 0.9 and 1.9 MB/sec, which according to is a 'F' grade and slower than 91% of the United States). If you have 1 device connected, you can do simple browsing, but more than one, forget about it. And if you are updating an app on your smartphone for instance, any additional connected devices will be toast. This should be upgraded... It was also an 'open' network, which is a bad idea from a security standpoint. (Of note, I tested with power cycling the router to ensure no one else was connected, and the performance was still an issue. I think they just have the very basic of service, which is very poor on Comcast's network).

As for the apartment itself. The bathroom door had a big hole in that someone tried to patch, but as I understand it they were going to try and replace it after our stay. While small, the place was just fine for our needs. They have 1 pot and 1 pan and some of the kitchenware could use replacing, but we were able to do some cooking at the apartment, so it worked out ok too.

While there, we experienced a water leak in the front bedroom's closet when it rained one day. The place is old, but overall, it is adequate. This was getting fixed once we checked out.

Biggest drawback; the upstairs neighbors were very loud, especially on the Friday and Saturday night, so just keep that in mind.

The customer service was great, quick responses, so that is nice. Overall, I would recommend the place.

We used public transportation and UBER for getting around and I'm glad we didn't get a car, there is very little parking anywhere around, so if you have a rental, you are going to be hard pressed to park close to the apartment.

Owner's Response: Aaron, Thank you for staying in my apartment. I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Boston. Having the subway directly across the street is great, as you can be in the city in a matter of minutes taking in the sights. I took a look at the internet and was able to have it reset by Comcast. Easy fix. Thanks for brining this to my attention. The bathroom door has been replaced and the small leak was fixed. (we had wind and rain that blew a couple shingles off). The kitchen is fully stocked. There is much more cookware under the cabinet (corner door). If a guest arrives and is missing their favorite piece of cookware.. Shoot us a message and I'm sure we can drop it off :) We also rent the condo upstairs, so those guests have already departed and are not an issue for future guests. If a guest has a complaint about noise, we always encourage them to reach out 24/7, so we can rectify the issue quickly :) The laundromat across the street does allow guests to complete their laundry as it is a public facility. I'm sure that was just a minor misunderstanding :) I have many friends who use the facility, as well as myself :) Thank you soooo much for your comments. We believe guest comments allow us to provide a better experience and we always implement changes and enhancements from the comments guests provide us. Safe travels! If your travels ever bring you back to the area, feel free to reach out :)

This apartment is direct across the street from the Andrew Square subway station, which provides easy access to the city centre. Andrew Square showcases the culture of South Boston with the conveniences of the city just a short ride away.

The area is filled with pizza parlors, coffee shops, and a great selection of restaurants. Stop & Shop (grocery store), Super Target, Office Max, Best Buy and much more are within walking distance.
