Elysium is located in the exclusive Purgatory Cove waterfront neighbourhood within Whiskey Harbour, Ontario, a highly sought-after enclave on the Bruce Peninsula. This distinctive area is known for its larger Cape Cod–style seasonal homes set on expansive lots, offering privacy, prestige, and a refined cottage-country atmosphere. Purgatory Cove forms part of the broader Whiskey Harbour–Hobson’s Harbour–Spry Shores area, long recognized for its scenic beauty and waterfront appeal.

Amazing Property, Grill Needs Attention

We had a good stay overall. The views, location, and the house itself were fantastic. Everything was well stocked and thoughtfully set up. The only downside was the grill not working, which was disappointing since most of our meals were planned around grilling. We reached out to support multiple times but weren’t able to get a resolution, which made it a bit frustrating…especially given the lack of cell service in the area. Aside from that, everything else was really good and we enjoyed our time.

We didn't pick the best time of year or the best weather but the cottage was warm and cozy for our relaxing vist. The deck was perfect for star gazing and the water was pristine (although, very cold being Novemeber) the beds were comfy and clean and the welcome gift was the icing on the cake!

We had a wonderful stay at this charming cottage! The waterfront landscape is absolutely breathtaking—perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature’s beauty. Our little ones had a fantastic time exploring the shoreline and playing by the water, which felt very safe and ideal for young kids. The cottage itself was cozy and well-kept, with incredibly comfortable beds that made for a restful night’s sleep. Highly recommend this place for a family getaway!

Very peaceful location. Cottage contained all necessities in kitchen and plenty of extra pillows and blankets. Definitely need water shoes but can’t really swim in the cove. Would have been good to know this in advance. Management responded to messages quickly the first 2 days but then ghosted us and our issue was never resolved.

Had an amazing time with a group of 8. We enjoyed walking out to the coastline past the cove and sitting and swimming from the rocks as the cove itself was full of bird droppings/slime and some fouler smells. A few of the plastic chairs by the fire were broken prior to our arrival. Beds were really comfortable. Felt a bit "spied" on with the four or five cameras off the building but thats the deal you make when you sign. Would have enjoyed a kayak or a paddleboard made available.

We all loved staying at this property! The access to the cove and lake was a natural playground for us all, dogs included. Everything was nice and clean. Welcome basket was a sweet touch. I’d perhaps recommend updating the living room furniture. It was dated, and difficult to accommodate a larger group comfortably. Also, we received a welcome email the day we were leaving, and it was incredible and just packed full of information, I think having that email a week ahead would have better prepared me as far as what to bring. We loved our stay and would be happy to return!

Gorgeous Views - Comfortable & Cozy Spaces

Our family stayed here together to celebrate a 70th birthday. The cottage management team is excellent - they were very prompt with responding to any questions we had and so helpful with organizing our trip with our group. Views of the lake are awesome from the cottage with all the windows and natural light (even when the weather outside isn’t perfect) We were cozy inside around the fireplace during stormy winter days and found the cottage well-equipped with everything we needed. The rooms were tidy and the beds were comfortable. Thanks for a memorable week!

A cozy cottage steps from the cove

We loved our long weekend at the cottage. The location is beautiful, I can only imagine what it's like in the summer. There are many windows that let you enjoy the view and relax with a glass of wine or cup of coffee. The stargazing is mesmerizing... Despite having our hands full with 4 small children we managed to relax and decompress from our busy schedules, that's how cozy it is. There is everything you may need to relax - comfy couches, king sized beds for the adults, bunk beds for the kids, a fireplace, a TV, a fire pit outside. The kitchen is equipped with everything and more (including blenders and multiple coffee makers!). Lion's Head is a 15 min drive away. I just want to leave a few notes - if you're into board games and such you may want to bring a few things. There were cards and quite a few toys for babies and toddlers, but we brought some of our own things after checking with the property team. They mention to bring water and please do, it's just easier than driving to get more. While there is a water cooler and there were two extra jugs for guests, we still had to get two more for the 8 of us. Overall 5 STARS and we will be back in the summer.

It makes-up part of Whiskey Harbour-Hobsons Harbour-Spry Shores areas. Often referred to by the locals as an area for the well-healed, as of 2023 it is the most affluent neighbourhood in the Pike Bay area as donated by property values with an average dwelling value of +10% vs the remainder of the area.

Although "Purgatory Cove" is in fact the name of the cove in the area, the term generally applies to the neighbourhood as a whole. It refers to the collective of a few larger recreational properties bordering the Cove itself - a sought after location due to its cove protection from the full force of Lake Huron, a major issue of residents further south and along the coastline facing shoreline erosion and poor swimming. Few roads pass through the area, contributing to the area's exclusivity. It is a secluded neighbourhood, surrounded a mixture of foliage, flora and fauna.

The great room floor-to-ceiling windows were perfectly positioned to capture the gorgeous Lake Huron Sunsets.

The modern open-concept kitchen is equipped with all the appliances you need, coffee machines, a fridge for longer stays, and plenty of counter space for meal preparation or cocktail hour. It's perfect for both cooking up a feast and entertaining with the entire family and with your friends. A beautiful island overlooking the kitchen to enjoy a nice glass of wine, craft beer, coffee or beverage of choice.

Adjacent to the kitchen, there's direct access to the waterfront deck with an outdoor dining area with stunning views of Purgatory Cove and Lake Huron. It's the ideal spot for enjoying meals while enjoying the water vistas. The lot is so large and private, their are two locations to have a year-round bonfire. The exclusivity of Purgatory Cove is evident by the view of the other massive cottages lining the shoreline, further away then in other locations in Whiskey Harbour so you can enjoy relaxing without worrying about neighbours.

The master bedroom features a king-sized bed with premium linens and direct access to the upper loft bathroom. It also has its own independent work station if you are working during your vacation, and plenty of storage. The view from outside the master is absolutely breathtaking. It is large enough to suit royalty.
