About this property

Private retreat on Mendocino oceanfront property near Point Arena and Elk.

Private family retreat on ten acres of remote oceanfront ranchland, with locked gate and private access to stunning scenic beach. Two-bedroom family home newly refurbished inside with new flooring, appliances, gas-fueled fireplace, TV, and high speed WiFi. Perfect retreat for small family groups, writers, work or study from home. Pretty garden opens onto grasslands, ending at rugged switchback trail leading to wide, wild, sandy beach. Beach privately owned to median high tide line.

The house is convenient to Highway 1, and a terrific, full-service grocery store is only 3 miles away. Access to the beach requires hiking ability, and the abundance of wildlife (including puma and coyote) makes it unsafe for pets.

It is our vacation home and a much-loved retreat for the extended family.

We are new to adding VRBO as a listing service, but we have a long history as a vacation rental. Quotes from some of our past guests:

Paradise!!

One of the best vacation rentals I've ever been to. Incredible ocean views, beautiful welcoming home, cozy beds, and a private beach! It's absolutely flawless, and the area is stunning—don't miss Main St. in Point Arena and the Stornetta Unit. This place was so magical that my partner and I ended up getting engaged while overlooking the ocean! Unforgettable stay.

My husband and I spent our 20th anniversary here. We absolutely loved it. The house was clean, cozy and well stocked. It was very private, which is what we were looking for. It was quite a hike to the beach. Or rather back up from the beach. But it was worth it. We had the beach to ourselves. If we are ever in this area again, we will definitely be staying here. Loved your wifi password. For several years the same thing was frequently heard in our house.

Beyond our wildest dreams

We have stayed at many VRBO‘s and usually there is a general disappointment upon arrival. That was not the case here, we absolutely loved it it is the most beautiful location on the Mendocino Coast. The hosts were readily available and extremely helpful, we highly recommend!

Arrived after dark but had all of the information we needed to get on to property and check in to house. Owners are very responsive and communicated with us for every detail. Very comfortable safe and peaceful. The property and house look exactly like pictures. Enjoyed all of amenities like a fenced in garden, grill, fire pit, cliff side deck, bench and beach access. We had everything we needed for every day living and cooking. The garden attracts a lot of birds. We would love to stay here again!

Like staying in a park

We were looking for a peaceful place to spend a few days and we were delighted with this stay. The property is amazing with a large open space, beautiful landscaping around the house, a deck with chairs overlooking the ocean and a nice trail down to the beach. The house has one of the best equipped kitchens that we have experienced. The detailed description lists a hot tub which there is not but we could see in the photos that there wasn't a hot tub so we were not surprised. There was a gas fire pit on the patio which we very much enjoyed as we stargazed. We have been recommending this lodging to family members since it is such a wonderful place.
