About Isolde Buerkli
I am artistic and creative and I love to cook. I grew up in Germany but came to the states when I was 24. I raised my family here in this house and have many fond memories.
Isolde Buerkli purchased this Apartment in 1978
Why Isolde Buerkli chose Center City
The house is located in much sought after Society Hill. I provide a guaranteed parking spot as well as a freshly cooked breakfast every morning.
What makes this Apartment unique
The house is uniquely decorated. My grandfather was a sculptor and many of his pieces are located throughout my home. The home is very cozy and has a European flair to it.

Very comfortable, clean property. Owner very nice and helpful. Neighborhood very nice and safe. Near lots of neat things and so convenient to wedding in University City.
Wonderful location with gracious host.
We were traveling to Philadelphia for the first time, and I decided to search HomeAway after seeing the prices of local hotels.
We chose Isolde because her reviews described a personal experience. They were right. She is a wonderful host with lots of local suggestions. Our first night she sent us to the most delicious Greek restaurant.
Each morning we had a lovely continental breakfast with her and her dog, Jethro.
The HomeAway rental is the third floor of her house, and once you check in your privacy is completely respected.
Isolde’s home is in a great location. We were in walking distance of our tour bus, Washington Square, and South St., home to many restaurants, coffee shops, and stores.
We would definitely stay here again.
Right in the heart of the Historic area.
Isolde is a gracious hostess who makes you feel right at home. The accommodations are very clean and comfortable, and you have the privacy of being on the 3rd floor. We found we were able to walk to just about all the primary locations in the Historic area. We had a very enjoyable visit to Philadelphia.
Isolde is a charming and flexible host. I felt like I was in my own home. Very private accommodations (bedroom, full bath, deck), with the entire 3rd floor to myself. Unfortunately it was a work trip for me so I didn't have time to relax on my beautiful rooftop deck with a glass of wine. Maybe next time! And, … secure off street parking! (unless that changed--I notice the listing says "no parking"--confirm with Isolde)
Great position and lovely house but not very private
The house itself was lovely and close to all attractions but it lacked privacy. It is really a b&b as there is only a bedroom and a bathroom- no facility to even make a cup of tea without asking the owner first. The rooms are on the 3rd floor so getting bags up and down was quite challenging- also impeded by the amount of furniture and ornaments in the stairwells. We felt acutely as if we we were staying in someone else’s home and only went back to the house to sleep.
Great Host and Property!
Host and property are great! Her place is located a short walking distance to the historic downtown sites. Many good dining spots all at walking distance. Highly recommend!
