I am passionate about Paso Robles, its wineries and this beautiful property that I have the great honor to own as of July 2015. This historic town has been my home for over 20 years and I am excited to add the Call Booth property to my collection of properties. Another VRBO property of is Lekai Ranch located in the premier wine country area on the westside of town.
One of my businesses could not be a more satisfying and fun endeavor, PasoRoblesWineries.net. The site is the premier tourism resource you access on your phone, tablet and computer with mapping and directions to every winery in our wine country and includes aerial videos, virtual tours, and blogs that are lighthearted and informative. It has given me a deeper connection with all of the warm, talented people that make up the fabric of the wine and tourism industry here.
The Owner purchased this house in 2015
I believe that it is fair to say that the Call Booth and Carriage houses are the most desirable and prettiest properties in our historic, downtown Paso Robles.
After receiving a design degree from UCLA I relished working in Florence, Italy with top fashion houses such as Ferragamo, Gucci and Pucci. With the knowledge gained from this amazing experience and many years living on the westside of LA, I am refining and streamlining the Queen Ann Victorian house's interior. I hope that you will enjoy this special, soulful house as much as I do.
The setting of the house is unique with a large garden, bubbling fountain, hundred year old oak trees and a carriage house. The Shomlers (previous owners) took the house down to its studs and gave it a new foundation in 1989. They kept the original electric switches, wood burning stove in the kitchen and added the exact reproduction of the wallpaper found during the renovation that was reproduced in San Francisco. You can also look forward to lounging on the wrap around porch, stone barbecue in the garden and soaking in the claw foot bathtub.
The Call-Booth House was an amazing place to spend our honeymoon! The house is so beautiful and cozy. It is like stepping back in time, as the decor is true to the period. However, the house has all the modern conveniences that you may need, as well as all linens and toiletries. Lauren is a wonderful host, welcoming and very friendly. She met us at the house, and even went to get us some snacks from a local market. She showed us around the house, gave us some local recommendations, and even had some fresh flower arrangements decorating the house. The garden adjacent to the house is pretty and peaceful, and the backyard is very private and relaxing. The house is conveniently located to everything you need in town, most places are walking distance...although we almost didn't want to leave the house! Overall, we were extremely pleased with the Call-Booth house and would highly recommend it!
I live in Paso Robles but was hosting a family event and didn't have enough beds for everyone. I have passed this property several times a day for years and always wanted to see the inside so I was excited when it was listed as a vacation rental. It did not disappoint!
It was like stepping back in time 150 years, beautiful period decor and fixtures but well appointed with all the modern comforts and conveniences.
It's a few short blocks to all the action downtown and a perfect jumping off place for enjoying a visit to Paso and SLO county. Lauren has partnered with many local wineries to offer special deals to customers. We had already planned to picnic at Harmony Cellars and they gave us two-for-one wine tasting and 10% off all purchases.
Lauren met us right on time to check us in and show us how everything worked. She was available by phone, text or e-mail if we needed her during our stay and she refunded the security deposit within 24 hours of checkout.
Everyone agreed this was a very special place. I will definitely book again when I need more space!
A perfectly beautiful house. Peaceful and lovely and right in downtown.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay in this lovingly restored, historical home. This home has every modern convenience and no detail has been spared for the visitors' comfort. The bathrooms, bedding, and sitting areas are sumptuous. We walked to great restaurants and shops and took advantage of the owner Lauren's knowledgeable tips for our exploration of the local wineries. I also appreciated Lauren checking in with us to make sure that we had everything we needed. This is a terrific property and a wonderful base for exploring Paso Robles!
As a history buff it was a thrill to stay in such a beautifully restored historic home. The location of the property, if you prefer staying in town to staying in the wine country, is good as you can walk to good restaurants and some shops. Unfortunately, one of the reasons we went to Paso at this time of year was to enjoy the weather, and the only place to do that at this property was on a tiny backporch that overlooked a gravel and concrete neighbor. Plant some privet bushes! Improve the garden! Anything would have made it more enjoyable. Also, the Apple TV didn't work, there wasn't a TV in the master, and the bedroom doors squeaked so when you went to the bathroom in the middle of the night (only one bedroom has an adjacent bath) it was noisy.
Everything else was impeccable - spotless, spotless soft white towels, terrifically hot water. Hope you can improve at least the backyard ambiance and you will have a perfect property.
I have a special place in my heart for historical homes and this Victorian is beautifully done! From the mechanical door bell on the front door to the gorgeous light fixtures and wood floors all the way through to the lovely and authentic mossy fountain in the English boxwood garden. You feel like you were transported through time... yet you have all of the modern amenities as well!
My father, sister and I thoroughly loved our stay here. Lauren was a wonderful host... giving us a detailed tour of the home upon our arrival, recommending some fantastic restaurants within walking distance (Il Cortile is a must do) and being available via text for anything we may have needed. We will be back to Paso next year and will definitely be staying with Lauren at the Call-Booth House again.
