Excellent get away! My daughter is already talking about when we'll go back. Perfect for dogs to run and very private. Kim was beyond accommodating. Perfect host. We will be back.
Do not rent! Host lives next door and watches you! The home phone was ringing and when I answered it the lady was screaming at me and wouldn't even let me get a word in! Our relatives that live near stopped in and supposedly you are not allowed visitors! This was not a peaceful vacation in the Northwood at all! We paid alot of money to rent and she ruined our vacation threatening to kick us out, so our relatives left and we left a day early as well. You will not get refunded your money back either because the owners call you on the landline instead of messaging you through the communication app leaving no proof of the way you are treated after spending thousands of dollars to stay there!Obviously this is not the first time theyve done this to families! We do this trip every year just so great grandparents up north can stop in and see the grandbabies once a year!

This is an instance where communication is everything. Unauthorized events on the property are not permitted. This guest registered a party of eight, but held a large party without saying a word to us in advance, despite numerous email communications and a welcome phone call upon her arrival. We let the guest finish her party, but insisted that only the registered guests could stay overnight. This unauthorized event was also reported to VRBO per VRBO’s policy.
We do live about 1/8 mile from our VRBO rental, but with the woods and field separating the two properties, the only thing we can see from our house is the driveway next door. It surprised us to see ten vehicles in the driveway, with only six registered adults staying. We try hard to be reasonable and helpful to our guests, but have little tolerance for deception.
Rules are in place precisely to keep Camp Okee Dokee a quiet, safe and enjoyable place to stay.
Beautiful, well maintained, wooded property. We loved it. It was homey, up north feeling, and up kept property. If you want to escape to up north I highly recommend this location.
This was perfect! The cabin exceeded my expectations. A great location, quiet and peaceful. Sunsets were beautiful and the cabin was spacious with everything anyone could need. Simply wonderful!
Beautiful home with everything one could want for a fun, relaxing stay: Wi-Fi, well-appointed kitchen, lots of books/games/DVDs, comfy sitting rooms, outdoor seating and fire pit, you name it. From age 9 to 79, we all loved it.
Clean and secluded. Loved the peace and quiet. No grocery store near by, but wasn't a problem for us. Enjoyed the WI-FI as a nice addition. Easy to walk the level grounds and well maintained. Books galore! It was hot, humid and rainy for our stay, but thankfully the A/C was perfect.. Very comfortable. We will be back!
We loved it, it was the best place we’ve stayed at yet. Super spacious, clean, quiet, relaxing.

About the host
Hosted by Kimberly Vele
Kim and Steve take pride in making your vacation a memorable experience. We love the peace, quiet and scenery of the north woods and enjoy sharing this wonderful property with others who feel likewise.
Why they chose this property
Our home is on other side of the meadow from this vacation rental. We bought the property because we wanted to preserve the log home which had fallen into disrepair. After considerable renovation, we opened the property, which we named Camp Okee-Dokee, for renting in the summer 2011.
What makes this property unique
If you have a crazy job and schedule and just need peace, quiet, and are content with star-filled evenings and watching wildlife -- this is the perfect place. We've hosted many friends and family gatherings. A few families have made this their annual spot for a decade now. There is plenty of space for everyone. Being together, playing games, reading, sight seeing, swimming, skiing, hiking... or just hanging out to relax is all on the itinerary at Camp Okee-Dokee. And, if you like gaming action or live entertainment, we are centrally located within 16 miles of three native-owned casinos. As of 2022, we still do not have wifi in the cabin, but fiberoptic has been buried up to the house. We hope the final installation will be completed to provide internet service to the house sometime yet this year. For the more than a decade that we've had this business without internet service, we are particularly grateful to all our loyal patrons who came to enjoy the few days or weeks of quiet, peaceful "unplugged, off-line time" at Camp Okee-Dokee.
