Ask a questionAbout Shaun Farrar
One of us writes books for children and young adults. The other one has spent most of his adult life protecting and serving the people of Bar Harbor. This house on Ledgelawn is where we spent a lot of happy time, celebrating the awesomeness that is Bar Harbor.
Shaun Farrar purchased this house in 2011
Why Shaun Farrar chose Bar Harbor
We bought this property because we love Bar Harbor and its quirky, outdoorsy appeal. Ledgelawn Avenue has always been a place for families. Even though Bar Harbor is so small, thousands of trick-or-treaters come to our door. On the Fourth of July, the parade stages at the ballfield and finishes on this street. This is small town America at its best. Right here. And then there's the park. You can run out the door, turn left and in less than five minutes, you are in one of the most beautiful places in the country. It's hard to beat that.
What makes this house unique
We love the front porch, the neighbors. We love the way the lilacs smell in Spring and the way the cook-outs smell in the summer. The back yard with its deck and trees just beyond the fence, make you feel secluded even though it's just a short jaunt into town. There are lots of tiny quirks in the house like an occasional old-fashioned light fixture, double ovens, and an overall light and airy feel.
