Nature close to home!
This is the nicest private property in the area!
We built our house in Monteverde with the goal of owing a second home that we could share with friends and family while relaxing in a beautiful garden in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful places.
The spacious cottage is fully equipped; has a great room with tall wood ceilings, a complete kitchen, dining table, and living room area that opens to a large window overlooking the forest.
The house was built following the local rustic architecture but it has been our vision and goal to have a cozy and unique house were one can relax after a long day hiking .
In addition to the house, we have built a wonderful private garden where you can see a large variety of birds and animals.
We welcome you to stay here to taste nature at it's best.

About Andres Wiernik
Our family is originally from San Jose. For several years, we visited Monteverde and dreamed with having our own piece of heaven in the Costa Rican Cloud Forest. In 2007, we bought this property and in 2008 we built our first cabin. We now have 4 cabins/cottages in the property.
Andres Wiernik purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2007
Why Andres Wiernik chose Monteverde
We have almost one hectare (aprox 2.47 acres) of garden. Our house has several features that distinguish this property from any other in the Monteverde area. We built our cottage for our personal use following traditional local architecture. This is an example of ecoturism at it's best. The property is located within walking distance of several restaurants, coffee shops, museums and the local cheese factory. We are located 5 minutes away from the main town (Santa Elena) where you can find a large variety of restaurants, gas station, banks, etc. We are also located 5 mins away from the Monteverde Cloud Forest National Park.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
- Access to our private garden - Bedrooms and bathrooms are cleaned every day with exception of Sundays and holidays (no extra fee). - With advance notice, we can arrange all your tours while in the Monteverde area. - We can help you with your travel arrangements in other locations of Costa Rica if necessary. - We work closely with a rent a car agency in case you would like to rent a car while in Costa Rica. - We offer wifi internet access

Beautiful setting, comfortable accommodation, and convenient location
Beautiful setting. Lots of room for our family of 8. Very convenient to forest reserves and restaurants. Owners very helpful setting up guides and reservations---they were also onsite for any questions we had. Enjoyed visiting with them and learning more about the area. Michael our guide was excellent for the 3 reserve tours we scheduled. Very knowledgeable of the forest reserves and helpful with taking beautiful pictures through spotting scope.
Beautiful property, great location and wonderful hosts!
We enjoyed every moment of our time at Yerbabuena. Israel and Regina went above and beyond. Thanks again!!
Serene, peaceful, beautiful! You will love YerbaBuena!
My family traveled to Monteverde with a party of 7. YerbaBuena offered everyone plenty of space to have a relaxing, comfortable experience. The owners communicated with us well before our trip to offer suggestions on sights to see and even helped coordinate a few tours.
The property is absolutely gorgeous. I could have just stayed on property drinking coffee, reading, and watching the beautiful birds or strolling through the beautifully landscaped grounds.
We did not rent a car, but rather arranged for transport to/from San Juan and it was easy enough to arrange transportation within and around Monteverde so this was never an issue. A few great restaurants are within walking distance as is a must visit cheese factory.
A welcome amenity that was provided was maid service, which I have not experienced at other VRBO properties I've stayed at.
All my grown 'kids' and my mom loved this place, it felt very welcoming, comfortable, and peaceful. Just thinking about our trip there as I write this brings a smile to my face.
Location, location, location
This vacation rental really MADE our holiday in Monteverde - just sitting on the deck, sipping wine, marvelling at the beautiful scenery on site and watching the wildlife, we felt like we could have never left the grounds and still had a wonderful, memorable trip. The grounds are extensive, filled with ferns, hydrangeas and bromeliads with a wide open lawn that the kids had a great time playing on and surrounded by tiny hiking paths that they could explore all on their own like grown up adventurers. We saw parakeets, motmots, squirrels and agoutis on the lawn and in the (sour) orange trees without having to leave our deck. We felt so incredibly cared for, both by the hosts, who were staying on the grounds in their own cabin and by the wonderful caretaker and housekeeper who bent over backwards to help us with everything. Our hosts spent hours looking after our travel arrangements in the months prior to our trip, we really were made to feel like family. The cabin (#3) was well stocked and my husband still raves about the comfort of the bed when we talk about our trip.
Even with all those advantages however, it is the location that is arguably the best feature of this rental. We spent our 5 days in Monteverde without a vehicle with no difficulty, thanks to the small plaza next door and the fact that most tours include transportation (pick up and drop off). We walked 10 minutes to the Curi Cancha reserve (and saw sloths!), Monteverde Cheese and Ice Cream Store and Factory and 5 minutes to the Bajo del Tigre Reserve, Bat Jungle, Cabure Chocolate shop and tour. Next door to the property (outside the stone walls) is a small town square type area with animal statues the kids could play on while the non supervising adults visited the bakery (I can still imagine the fresh croissants we walked over and picked up each morning), coffee shop (with free coffee tastings to compare light-medium-dark and honey roasts), Italian restaurant, Argentinian restaurant, local Costa Rican restaurant, yoga studio, small organic and locally grown food market and the local women's cooperative/gift shop carrying local home made souvenirs like felted animals, music and jewellery.
It is a hidden gem, run by extraordinarily generous people. Enjoy your time there (:
Thank you very much for your review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed our property. We look forward to hosting you again soon. Love from Costa Rica and kind regards,

Fabulous stay in Monte Verde.
We rented Cabin 1 for 3 nights and our party of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids) were very comfortable. The property is beautiful and convenient to town and the attractions. The owners were super helpful prior to our trip and during our stay. They were there to help with anything we needed and truly wanted to make sure we enjoyed our limited time in CR. It was windy while we were there and that made it a bit loud at night, but the cabin is nicely appointed and secure. We saw many birds on the property and had a fabulous day touring the cloud forest with Roy. He is not to be missed. We also did the zip lines at Selvatura, which were pretty impressive if you like adventure.

Do not know where to begin. Prior to our trip, the owner was so helpful in planning our time in Monteverde and throughout Costa Rica. Then there was the first look in the gate at an enchanted forest! The cabins were delightful, the food was delicious, and the caring staff was so appreciated. We had such a good time touring the nearby Cloud Forest. We learned so much from Roy, our guide for the morning. Dinners in town were delicious and everyone was so kind. Recommend this location!
Set atop the spine of Costa Rica’s continental divide, Monteverde is a world above the coastal towns that dot the country's famous shoreline. It is a place of cloud forests and coffee plantations, monkeys, mist, and friendly locals. Due to its high altitude – some 4,662 ft (1,440 m) above sea level – Monteverde is privileged to receive a steady supply of clouds and the life-giving moisture that they contain. This moisture, often in the form of fog, catches on the branches of the tallest trees and drips down to the other organisms below. This helps to support a complex and far-reaching ecosystem, one that harbors over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, tens of thousands of insect species, and over 2,500 varieties of plants, 420 of which are orchids alone. Visitors can explore this internationally recognized environment from trails and trams, along canopy tours or inside museums. We welcome you to our property and advice you to plan on spending at least a few days to adventure through this verdant and mountainous world. PURA VIDA!
