Huge isolated property
The place was great, but I would add a few details to the description:
- There is a second unit attached to the house, in which a tenant lives. So even though you are very far from your neighbors, you do have a housemate that you may see and/or hear.
- This place feels very isolated. The closest store we found was 10 minutes away by car, and their goods are limited (no produce). If there is a better store nearby, it would be helpful for the owner to provide this info.
- There is no soap/shampoo/conditioner included. Just FYI.
- The driveway is very long and very rocky. My Civic got a flat tire driving on it, so be careful.
Overall terrific spot - thank you!
Spent three days here while visiting Camden and Deer Isle. Had three generations staying in the house and the first floor master was perfect for grandparents. Plenty of space, great location. Super, modern, state of the art.
Beautiful property, remote location
This home is absolutely beautiful, with sweeping views of the surrounding area. We enjoyed walking around the property, exploring the blueberry barrens, and flying kites on the airstrip. The location is remote, and it was at least a 20 minute drive to Camden and any amenities, such as a grocery store or restaurants, so trips had to be carefully planned. The house is spacious, with a wonderful common area downstairs to gather and beautiful porches on both the front and back of the house. One surprise that renters should know is that the water has a distinct and strong sulphur smell. We used bottle water for drinking. The host was wonderful, contacts were prompt and informative. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful house and view . Stunning
Just far enough from town to make you feel secluded but close enough to enjoy the small town experience. House is so great you almost don't want to get out . Ended up spending a half of a day relaxing and playing games on the porch . nights spent relaxing watching the stars . 5 chefs from Dallas Texas would highly recommend.
Gorgeous property inside and out!
The house is easy to find and sits all by itself on a big hill (the home you can see in the distance is the only other property in sight). Inside you'll find a well-appointed home with very nice finishes. There's a half bath off the spacious kitchen, a casual dining room and a formal dining room, a large living room with a beautiful fireplace and a master bedroom and bath. In addition are two porches, one on the front and one on the back (perfect for sunrises and sunsets!). Upstairs are four more spacious bedrooms with queen or king beds and two more baths. We took the opportunity to hike up the large hill in the back, past the airstrip, and went all the way to the top. It was worth it! The views are stunning from the house, from up there they were amazing! We also found some Maine wild blueberries ready for picking, so we took advantage. All in all, a fabulous gem in a wonderful area. Perfect for families, girls' weekends (that's us), and any sort of group.
It was a great place to house our family for a fun week in Maine. Nice and secluded, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy towns.
