Peaceful escape

The property was exactly what we needed - a chance to relax and unwind in a home filled with rustic charm and views to die for. We loved the pool and enjoyed exploring the local area including Poppi Castle and beautiful restaurant La Torricella. Thank you for your hospitality and care Deborah - we hope we will be able to return from Australia one day!

A real gem

We had a fabulous time at this beautiful house. The view, the pool, the flowers and the amazing veranda underneath the trees. The interiors are beautifully decorated with lots of art. Very personal and charming! The property is even better than the photos! This was like a home away from home - so relaxing, peaceful and beautiful. We also love listening to the nightingale gales and watching the fire flies at night. We played tennis a lot (great newly renovated with nice clay courts), my son tried the golf course (which was great), checked out the beautiful town Poppi, and one day we hiked up to the monastery in the mountains (what a lovely walk in the cool forest)! Deborah has been a wonderful host, so helpful and giving us all sorts of great tips and advice.

Wonderful stay in stunning place

We had the most wonderful holiday at Casa Feriale! Deborah was the most superb host and went out of her way to help us, even taking us to the supermarket on our first day, booking a table at a local restaurant for us as well as lots of advice and assistance about the local area. The house is great, a truly authentic rustic feel, totally in keeping with the stunning countryside of Tuscany. The house has everything you need, really well equipped kitchen and we enjoyed so many al fresco lunches and dinners on the terrace and by the pool. Also has a good BBQ. The pool and table tennis were a big hit with our kids, and there is also loads of other things to entertain children there. The view from the pool is utterly breathtaking, so tranquil and peaceful, surrounded by nature. We had a lovely trip to Poppi castle, and into the town for delicious gelato. The area is not full of tourists, quite the opposite, which is exactly what we wanted! We also had a couple of successful walks from the house into Poppi, which is not far but a steep walk home in the heat. But enjoyable nonetheless. We would highly recommend this home for a holiday if you want peace and quiet and a truly relaxing time. Thank you Deborah!

Hidden Gem in Tuscany

From the moment we arrived at the hidden cottage through the picturesque hills of Tuscany, devoid of tourists and resplendent with views of times past, fragrant with lavender and an ever-constant hum of pollinating bees, we knew this was exactly the place where we could discover the simple beauty of this unspoiled valley. The house exceeded all expectations and was filled with details normally reserved for honored family guests like gorgeous, hand-stitched linens of such high quality my mother swore she'd not even use them for herself if they were hers. The spacious house allowed us all moments of quiet from the exuberant playings at the basketball hoop, pingpong table, and fantastic pool. A pergola of decades-old wisteria mixed with grapevines shades a lovingly maintained patio with a near-perfect view of Poppi Castle and the town that surrounds it. The home is clearly loved and it was a privilege to stay as a guest. Deborah was extremely helpful (well beyond what we would have expected): each of her recommendations for dining, horseback riding as well as things to do and see were happy successes. We all were already dreaming of returning to this beautiful place marking this as the kind of great vacation spot so good you plan your next visit while still there.

Geweldig verblijf

Een zeer mooie en idyllische plek waar je helemaal tot rust kan komen. Heerlijk huis met veel sfeer en schaduwrijke tuin met veel verschillende zitplekken en prachtig uitzicht. Tijdens ons verblijf was het zwembad zeker de moeite waard en bood perfecte verkoeling. Alles was aanwezig voor een heerlijk verblijf en ook de kinderen konden zich goed vermaken met het zwembad, pingpongtafel en het buitenspeelgoed. Deborah draagt als host zeker bij aan het slagen van het verblijf. Van het verwelkomen tot het prettige contact tijdens het verblijf met de tips voor activiteiten, bezienswaardigheden etc.. Wij raden een verblijf bij Deborah van harte aan!

How we fell in love with Casa Ferale(s) :)))

Hi dear Debora, We have had a great time in your beautiful house. The garden, the incredible patio - in short, it was a very nice and spacious house in an unbelievably pretty environment, with a fantastic view. Debora, you were a pleasant and sweet host, and based upon your advice we managed to see a lot of the surroundings. Some things we did, amongst others, were cooking; dining; swimming; laughing; hiking; mountain biking through Foreste Casentinesi; seeing the sunrise on top of Creco del Pratomagno; running into little wild boars; and hiking through the river Arno. And…….we also had a family-ping-pong-competition, with the dog under-the-table picking up the dropped balls and only to speed off with them (it seems like she was also enjoying her own little game)! We made a long journey back and forth to a place we actually wouldn’t want to leave 😊

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt

Das Haus ist sehr großzügig und super ausgestattet. Der Pool ist für 6 Personen super nutzbar. Man liegt mit einem wunderschönen Ausblick auf Poppi ruhig in den Bergen.

Blissful Week In Poppi

Perfectly positioned overlooking Poppi, this is a lovely Villa. Perfectly equipped for the 6 of us, everything about it was spot ons. From the good sized bedrooms, kitchen, living area's and with plenty of space for relaxing. Plus table tennis, boules and a good sized pool, we really enjoyed our stay. Deborah could not have been more attentive and helpful. Her help and advice, throughout our week was outstanding and made our stay very special.

Very homely, gorgeous views. The approach to the property was amusing! Private and secluded

The property has a well worn feel to it. The kitchen was well equipped although the dishwasher racks have lost their wheels and needed to be handled with care. Some light bulbs indoors and out were missing or not working. The bedroom layout was good and the bed linen very attractive. More clarity re the cleaning/bed changing needs to be made (I may have asked Brunella to do too much, but I was there for a month) I totally understand the need to be careful with water use, but we found that the hot water for showers was variable. We had a problem with the pump for the swimming pool, but after contacting the owner it was fixed and maintained quickly. Contact with the owner was efficient via text. The DVD player was not working (playing in black and white only) until my son-in-law fixed it during the second week. I would not have known what to do had it not been for him! Wifi efficient (until a storm knocked it out) but I was able to fix it with help from the owner. The property is on the side of a hill and the garden has some steep slopes up to the car parking area. The stairs in the house are steep, so children should be careful! Overall we had a lovely time.

We have to say this is a really unusual review to receive after such friendly happy messages from you. And because you have been so detailed in your criticism I felt it would be sensible to respond. You are the first person to rent for a month so perhaps it was a learning curve. I am very disappointed to see that despite your enthusiastic messages and thanks, that you have given such a review. It’s a first! Helpful criticism is good but it was never apparent from any communication that you were less than happy. Sorry to hear there were light bulbs out. This has just been checked. Every single room is very well illuminated with not only numerous overhead lights and numerous table and bedside lights. 3 out of 63 basic bulbs including 2 x 5 arm chandeliers in a large house - some will go sometimes - but since there is a handyman, cleaner , gardener, pooand someone at the phone for any queries/ assistance, including booking taxis I’m surprised you did not mention this at any point. Of course it may be the fairy lights that are provided for fun and are not a necessity. They were put up just for fun and will certainly be remove. You did not mention that literally every possible help is on hand . Assistance and advice and speedy help when there was a p given whenever you asked, I’m sorry you haven’t mentioned this. Storms happen and turning just one switch was I hope not difficult . It’s highly unusual that it happens so it must have been a serious storm. Hot water - no one mentioned this! No previous guest has so this is a surprise. A plumber has checked it today to be sure. Thank you re the dishwasher- it’s less than a year old - we always trust that guests should they break something, will report it but it’s good to know now. Thank you for adjusting the dvd! Again it’s one of the things that when you provide a lot, some things that are not mentioned as a guest leaves, may go unnoticed when cleaning and preparing! We supply connections plus wireless speakers for iPhones and Mac laptop so that you can watch your own channels etc as well as of course our Netflix etc. Im sorry you were offended at being asked to be sensible with water, it is not good to leave water running for no reason. But this is not a hotel, just a very well and broadly equipped house with everthing one might need to have a good time and hosted by people who try to make guests as happy as possible.! And I have to say I understood you were among the 99.9 happy!

Wunderschöne Lage, gemütliches, gut ausgestattetes Haus

Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Woche hier. Es ist alles da. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Sogar ein Rühergerät, wenn auch ein älteres Modell, war da - Kuchenglück! Das ein oder andere Bett könnte eine neue Matratze vertragen, und hier und da gab es ein paar staubige Ecken. Aber insgesamt war alles superschön für uns hergerichtet, wir haben uns alle sehr wohl gefühlt!

lovely house in a beautiful setting

We had a wonderful time here, the house is fantastically appointed among the hills and there is the scent of lavender when you sit on the terrace in the evening .There are wonderful, completely unspoilt views over the hills from the pool side as well as the terrace and many of the rooms in the house. The house itself is clean, spacious, comfortable and characterful. Many places we have stayed in as holiday homes feel somewhat corporate and lacking personality wheres this is a gorgeous home with many lovely touches. The surrounding area is lovely and quiet and un touristy. Poppy itself is an interesting town with the lovely old castle area and its an easy drive to Arezzo and Sienna.

Amazing

we stayed in this amazing house for five nights on our honeymoon. it was perfect, the location and the surrounds are breathtaking and we had a fantastic time. Watching the fireflys at night was magical and i would love to come back in the middle of summer. Deborah was a lovely host.

( The 3rd of full size little football pitch is complete and the grass has FINALLY started to look like a proper green, and less like a desert, after a very hot very dry summer. We have also installed a mad net for tennis....well away from the other side of the house, where there were a family of golden oriel this summer ... Just tempting you back!) welcoming house in lovely setting

Very enjoyable stay with everything made better by Samuele's assistance. Lovely terrace on which to eat and relax with fireflies to watch after dark and boars snuffling below in the dusk. Comfortable rooms and all facilities. Surroundings and views superb. And much else to see in the area.

a great family house in a superb setting

Casa Poppi is a spacious house set in a field with a terrace that dominates the town of Poppi and the tuscan hills beyond.The interior has real personality, lovely paintings, comfortable and elegant furniture, functional kitchen and comfy beds which immediately made us feel we had found somewhere special. Whether inside by the fire place (in early October the nights can get chilly) or under the vine shaded south facing terrace outside, we felt able to relax and enjoy the countryside. Poppi is a castle town with great food shops and a weekly market. We visited Florence (where we landed), Arrezo and Sienna which are all within an hour or so of the house and went mushroom picking in the nearby forest to cook delicious tagliatelli al fungi. This is a great family house in a superb setting. Thank you

Brilliant Holiday Home

At the beginning of this April we stayed at Casa Feriale for a week with 5 adults and 3 children. We had nothing but sun and had a brilliant time in Poppi and surroundings! The house caters for all needs; its very spacious, fantastic views, plenty to do for kids (games and DVD's galore). Spent most of our days sun lounging on the patio (has sun from sunrise to sunset!) and exploring the region (Poppi, Arrezo, Florence). We had BBQ's most nights but also had dinner in some of the local restaurants which are great! Not an overly touristy area but that just added to the charm. Highly recommended!

Kids loved it

We had a great relaxing stay at casa Feriale during the las week of October 2010. It was such a nice relaxing stay. Our kids (1, 3 and 6) loved the house and all the DVDs and games. They also loved exploring outside and playing with the outdoor toys. The area is very relaxing. It's not overly touristy, which was a nice change with some good restaurants. Overall we had a great stry, our eldest son still talks about the vacation and asks when we can go back!

A Magical Place

We had a wonderful autumn break in Casa Feriale, great walks, amazing views and lovely log fires. The house is beautiful, simple and well equipped and makes you feel you have really got away from it all. We returned home feeling great and really want to go back again. The owner was lovely and very helpful, the place was clean and full of beautiful objects and paintings. We would definitely recommend it. xxx

Good Fortune

I had the good fortune to spend five days at the end of April at Casa Ferali. It had been ten years since my last visit to the Poppi area and I confess I had forgotten just how stunningly beautiful it is. The house, nestled in the hills, has wonderful views of Poppi and the surrounding countryside. It is spacious and well appointed with large terraces, which are ideal for sunny days and cool evenings. Poppi is close by with shops, restaurants and, of course, the Castle. Camoldoli, with it's ancient monastery, is just twenty minutes away by car. Or, for those who take their walking seriously, a perfect destination. The woods and fields abound with birdlife and, best of all, the Nightingales sing all night long. I can't wait to go back.

in the Tuscan countryside

The farmhouse has a wonderful view of Poppi and is surrounded by fields, trees, deer, birds. A wonderful marble table encourages long meals outside on the terrace, and is an ideal place for reading/writing and other non physically demanding pursuits. Apart from this, the hills, woods and fields beckon and, if you have a car, travel is possible much further afield (also by train from Poppi railway station to, for example, Florence). No shortage of good restaurants. Owner very friendly and helpful. Well maintained house with plenty of facilities. We had a very enjoyable stay.
