Overview

About the property

Recently renovated, this one bedroom, one bath apartment is ideally situated with close proximity to downtown, Capitol Hill, Lake Union and the University of Washington. Our fully equipped apartment features a 40' Sony flat screen w/ a full complement of cable channels, stereo w/ plug in for iPod, WiFi, washer & dryer in the unit, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Hardwood floors in the living areas complement the granite tile floors in the bath. The kitchen sparkles with a new Cesar Stone counter top, glass tile back splash and new cabinets, dishwasher, range, microwave and refrigerator. The sofa and loveseat make relaxing comfortable, while dining or working in the kitchen is deceptively spacious because of the large, 84' wide, mango wood table. The living room includes a pull-out sofa for additional guests. The kitchen seating includes Emeco 111 Navy chairs made from recycled PET. Rest comfortably in the queen sized bed while enjoying the quiet achieved by two complete sets of windows. The original exterior windows were left in place and another complete set of insulated windows were installed inside to insure warmth in the winter and a cool environment in the summer.

About William Graf

I have been working with architects and designers for most of my professional life. This has given me an appreciation for good design. My wife and I have lived in Seattle for more than 30 years and raised three girls We love this city and constantly revel in its beauty. Weather permitting, we enjoy entertaining on our 1956 Chris Craft.

William Graf purchased this apartment in 1991

Why William Graf chose Seattle

We have always thought the Eastlake area (the east side of Lake Union) was desirable because it had close proximity to downtown, the lake and the University of Washington. We have owned this building for over 20 years and are now offering this unit for a short term rental. We think the location is outstanding and should provide travelers an excellent base for exploring.

What makes this apartment unique

I have lived on a couple of houseboats in Seattle. The location of this apartment is a few blocks from that community. I enjoyed walking the docks and sitting on the waterfront, enjoying the activity on the lake. It is a truly unique experience, not approached anywhere else in the United States, possibly the world.

Great little condo

  • 4 of 5

We spent three days in this condo in late August, 2017. As advertised, it is very clean and comfortable. Access from the Eastlake area to most parts of Seattle is convenient. (This is one downside to the unit -- it is immediately across the street from Interstate 5.). Eastlake is also a very walkable area with a lot of nice restaurants and views of Lake Union.

Enjoyed our stay

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay - even though we visited during a heat wave when fires filled the skies with smoke. The location was great for heading downtown to the art fair, ferries, museums and up to Fremont and Ballard and nearby Capitol Hill. The bus (70) was amazingly frequent! We enjoyed the Wooden Boat museum and lots of restaurants close by - especially little water Mexican restaurant and their great deck on the water. Unfortunately the renters upstairs - 2 different sets during our week stay - were freakishly noisy. Probably not a common occurrence. We used the fan and white noise apps to override, but wow! The kitchen was super well setup with all you need and the big table was great for laying out maps and planning. Two things to note: you are in a basement apartment with no fresh air. The owner was super responsive and helped us set up the rolling air conditioner and answered other questions. Parking was easy despite many construction projects eating up spaces. All in all it was a great visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with future travelers. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay, but am sorry to hear about the noise upstairs. Unfortunately they happened to be the worst guests we have encountered in over 5 years of hosting and will not be returning.

The unit was clean and very well equipped.

  • 4 of 5

I would have liked to have a better view. Unfortunately it was a basement flat. There were no insect screens on the windows which made us anxious about opening the windows to air the rooms. The kitchen and the furniture were really good. In the end, we were very happy to be there.

Very comfortable and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here semi-long term during my winter break from work, and it was the most comfortable home away from home I could have hoped for. The kitchen was for the most very well stocked, the entire place very clean and modern.

Cozy and Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay and hope to return. The owner is very responsive. The internet was spotty. I told the owner and he replaced the equipment within a few hours and it was blazing fast! The apartment is clean and tastefully decorated. We cooked several meals. The kitchen has high end cookware and appliances. We also enjoyed several restaurants near by and loved that we could walk to them. This unit doesn't have an assigned parking spot but does have a permit for street parking. It wasn't hard to find street parking but was tricky for me to parallel park.

Don't hesitate if you have the opportunity to stay at this condo. Nicely decorated, nicely appointed, convenient location. Lovely all around... Having a parking pass is a big bonus...
